I blame toshiba19 for my sudden urgeness to wite XD

Now we will start our story in the rainy streets of Seoul where a runaway 9-years-old kid was sitting at a park bench without an umbrella so that his tears would be hidden with the rain from random passer bys.

"Stupid daddy." muttered the young lad. "Making me move here with him."

He then stomped on a puddle by his foot just to release the frustration pent up in his little body. He couldn't believe his parents would betray him like this. He had a great life in Busan. He had great friends, was top of his class and was well loved. But then suddenly his dad got promoted and then he had to move to Seoul living his life in Busan behind.

The little boy started to weep again at the thought of his friends but then suddenly the rain around him stopped distracting him from his thoughts. He looked up expecting to see a dark sky but instead he was met by the inside of an umbrella.

"Are you okay?" a small voice behind him asked.

The rain soaked lad turned around him only to be staring at the most biggest brown eyes he's seen. Those clear brown eyes were accompanied by a cute face and a petite body. The boy has never seen a girl this cute which is the reason for his pink blushing cheeks.

"Can you talk?" the girl asked while sitting beside him.

"Yeah." answered lad. Sure he talked to girls before but not one of them was this cute. Although he did wonder why her hair was so short or why she didn't wear one of those dresses girls seem to love.

"Are you lost?"

"No," answered the boy honestly. "I ran away." he says he ran away but honestly his house was near the park he was in.

"What!" the girl exclaimed making her doe eyes bigger in shock. "Don't you know there are lots of bad people in the world!"

Everything became quiet for a second for the boy did not know how to respond to the girl’s sudden outburst. He knew there were lots of bad people out there especially in a big city, but he's emotions took over his logical thinking making him run.

"Come on," the girl said as she stood up and held a hand out for the boy to take hold. "You're soaking wet, I'll take you to my house, my dad makes the best soups."

At the mention of house and soup the boy immediately stood up. He was out in the rain for so long and it was way past dinner time making him cold and hungry.

"What's your name?" asked the girl. "I'm gonna take you to my house so I might as well know your name."

"Myungsoo." the boy replied simply. "You?"

"Sungjong." the girl replied with a huge smile. "Let's go Myungsoo."

As the sound of his name leave the girls smiling lips Myung Soo couldn't help but smile back and blush a little as he grabbed her hand. Sung Jong's hand was small and warm fitting into Myung Soo's perfectly.

"Omo!" cried Sung Jong as she started to go near Myungsoo's face making him redder. "You're turning red. Have you got a fever from the rain?"

Sungjong's next actions surprised Myungsoo because the cute girl then suddenly placed her forehead atop his making their nose touch as he smelled her scent.

'Strawberries.' thought Myungsoo as he determined the girl's scent.

"You don't feel warm though." mused Sungjong as she pulled away. "Oh. The rain stopped." she then closed her umbrella then tapped it on the ground. "Come on, you must be hungry."

-------

As Myungsoo and Sungjong walked hand in hand the lad couldn't help but take sneak peeks at his new found friend. Maybe living here in Seoul wasn't so bad at all.

"So uh," started Myungsoo trying to start a conversation. "Why were you out in the rain?"

Sungjong then stopped walking to turn and look at Myungsoo.

"I'll tell you but you have to promise you won't say." Sungjong said seriously.

"I promise." Myungsoo replied.

"You can't just say promise." pouted the girl. She then held her pinky up to Myungsoo's face. "You have to pinky promise it too."

Sungjong then held her little pinky up to Myungsoo's face. The pout on her lips made the lad oblige to her little ritual and locked their pinkies together making Sungjong break into a smile. She then held his hand again then started to walk while swinging their hands together in tune with their steps as she started to tell her story.

"Do you know about the abandoned building near pigeon-ahjumma's house?" Sungjong asked and Myungsoo shook his head for he did not stay here long enough to explore the neighborhood. "Well you see, yesterday while I was going to school I heard a 'meow' come from inside there, I took a look inside then I saw 3 little kitty-cats. I was gonna take them home but I didn’t know how to bring three cats home so I just gave them food."

Myungsoo nodded signaling that he was listening and understanding every word the other said. Sungjong then continued his little story.

"But then it rained really hard today so I went out to check on them." at this point Sungjong's smile faltered a little. "But when I got there they weren't there anymore. Someone must have took them home."

Myungsoo could sense the sadness in her voice and the stopped swinging of their hands signalled that the cheerful girl's mood suddenly drop. The young boy has a vague idea of why this happened.

"So," started Myungsoo. "Why didn't you take them home?"

"My mom's not really great with pets." Sungjong answered with another one of her adorable pouts. "But I'm glad that someone picked them up before something happened to them." the petite person ended with a sweet smile.

Despite the cold weather and his rain soaked clothes Myungsoo couldn't help but feel warm as he unconsciously returned Sungjong's infectious smile with his own.

-------

"Oh." Sungjong said after a while. "We're near my house already."

Myungsoo looked around him and he can't he'll but have this nagging feeling behind his head that he knows this place. His thoughts were suddenly disturbed as he suddenly saw a pair of couple looking at them and he can't help but realize that one of those couples is his parents.

"Myungsoo!" cried his mom as she saw his son with tear stained eyes.

"Mom," Myungsoo whispered letting go of Sungjong's hand. Even though he felt like such a grown up for running away and living on his own, Myungsoo was still a kid wanting his mom's warm hugs from a day in the rain. He suddenly rushed forward to his mom while calling her even louder until he was finally caught in his mom's arms.

"Myungsoo, darling. Don't ever scare me like that ever again!" cried his mom as he hugged his son tighter.

"I'm sorry mom," sniffed Myungsoo as he let his tears freely flow. He suddenly felt a warm hand fall atop his head and ruffle his already mused hair.

"I should be the one saying sorry Myungsoo." his dad said softly as Myungsoo looked at him seeing his puffy red eyes in the process. "I shouldn't have made rash decisions like this."

"It's okay dad." Myungsoo said as he smiled at his dad, the tears finally stopping.

"I'm glad you found him Mr. Kim," a voice from behind them suddenly said reminding Myungsoo of his new found friend. "And I think our little Sungjongie kept him company in the rain."

"Thank you Mr. Lee." Myungsoo's dad said as he stood up. "And you have a very kind son."

At the word son Myungsoo's eyes widened as he looked at the family behind him. He looked at the dad, then the mom, then to Sungjong. Did he hear correctly? Was this cute adorable girl in front of him actually a boy? Well that explains the short hair and boyish clothes! He just used the wrong pronoun for this person for half of this story!

"You're their son?" Myungsoo asked just to be sure, not forgetting to emphasize the word son.

"Yup!" exclaimed Sungjong as he held his mother's hand. "I'm a boy so I think it'll be better if they called me son instead of daughter."

"Oh." was all Myungsoo managed to say, still trying to digest this new found information.

"I hope we get along well," Sungjong started not losing his bright smile. "Please take care of me new neighbor."

Myungsoo just smiled back at him as he thought that maybe his previous thoughts were wrong. Maybe moving here wasn’t so bad after all.

And this is how Myungsoo's first love brutally ended and how a lifelong friendship started.
