학교에 가는 길이었다. 어젯밤에 내 방을 둘러본 다음에 경수가 집에 갔다. 그때 깨다랐다. 경수의 전화번호가 없었다. 그래서 연락 한 통도 못했다. 그는 무슨 생각을 하고 있는지 몰랐다. 좋아한다고 했지만 무슨 뜻이었는지 확실하지 않았다. 그냥 친구로서? 아닌데... 키스까지 해 버렸다. 그냥 친구는 키스 같은 짓을 보통 하지 않았다. 그럼... 남자친구가 되고 싶은 마음이 갖고 있었는가? 아니면 그냥 한 번 해 보는 것이었는가? 정말 떨렸다. 어디서 언제 다시 보게 될지 알 수가 없어서 준비가 안 되었다. 무슨 말도 해야 할지 전혀 몰랐다.

“종인아!” 내 뒤에 있는 목소리가 날 불렀다.

깜짝 놀랐다. 수호이었다.

“숙제 다 했어? 굉장히 어렵더라” 수호가 물어보았다.

“아! 숙제!” 내가 외쳤다. 깜먹었다. 경수 생각 너무 많이 하다가 당황스러워서 정신이 나라갔나 보았다. “어떡하지?” 내가 수호를 보고 말했다.

“알았어, 내 꺼 보여 줄게...근데 무슨 일 있어? 그런 걸 쉽게 까먹는 성격이 아니잖아...” 수호가 걱정스러운 표정으로 날 살펴보았다. 내가 아랫입술을 물었다. 틀겼다. 수호는 한번 냄새를 맡으면 범인을 찾을 때까지 끝까지 보기 안 하는 녀석이었다.

“어.. 어.. 나중에 말할게.. 늦었다...”.

“안녕” 경수가 귀엽게 인사했다. 나와 수호가 점심을 먹는 중이었다.

심장이 너무 갑작스럽고 세게 뛰어서 음식을 잘 못 삼켰다. 기침했다.

“어... 안녕...” 기침하면서 대답했다. 경수가 기억보다 훨씬 더 잘생겼다.

“앉아도 돼?” 경수가 부드럽게 물어보았다. 대답을 기다리지 않고 그냥 앉았다. 나한테 아주 착하고 따뜻한 미소를 보냈다. 나도 미소를 질 수 밖에 없었다.

“선물이다.” 경수가 나한테 작은 박스를 건네주었다.

“어.. 왠 선물?” 내가 당황스러웠다. 카스하면 선물을 줘야 되는 규칙이 있는 거였는가?

“나중에 열어 봐” 경수가 부끄럽게 말하고 그 박스를 가방에 넣는 것이 좋겠다는 눈빛으로 날 바라보았다. 박스를 빨리 가방에 넣었다.

“어... 이것 봐, 이것 봐... 왠일이니?” 수호가 웃었다. “내 선물은?” 수호가 냉정하게 경수한테 손을 내밀었다.

“아니.. 어.. 그거... 남자친구한테만 줄 수 있는 선물인데...” 경수가 조용하게 설명했다.

“남자친구???” 나도 수호도 동시에 말했다.

“응.” 경수가 단호히 끄떡이었다.

“남자친구 있었어?” 수호가 나한테 물었다.

“나도 몰랐네..” 내가 어색하게 웃었다.

“키스했잖아... 아무한테 키스를 해? .. 물론 남자친구한테 하는 거지..” 경수가 섭섭하게 살짝 뿌루퉁한 입으로 말했다.

“키스...?” 수호가 놀라운 표정으로 나를 바라보았다.

“아.. 뭐.. 그냥 한번 해 봤어..” 너무 어색해서 사라지고 싶었다. 수호가 어떻게 경수 앞에서 이런 질문을 할 수 있다는 것을 이해가 안 갔다. 곤란했다. 짜증났다. 경수의 눈에 실망을 볼 수 있었다.

“아니.. 그... 그냥 아니고... 진심으로...” 아, 내가 미처버릴 것 같았다.

“참, 수호 씨, 제 친구 세훈이를 기억하시지요?” 경수가 날 무시하며 수호를 보고 말했다. 삐친 것 같았다. 귀여웠다.

“네, 그런데요?” 수호가 호기심을 숨기려고 엄청 심각한 표정을 지었다.

“세훈이는 수호를 엄청 좋아하는데 수호 씨 어떠세요?” 경수가 솔직하게 말했다.

“뭐라고요?” 수호의 턱은 바닥에 떨어졌다.

“어! 더불데이트 하자!” 내가 웃었다.

I trembled. My heart fluttered. I was nervous. I had butterflies.

I was on my way to school. Last night, after taking a look around my room, Kyungsoo had gone home. That was when I realized. I didn't have Kyungsoo's phone number. So I couldn't contact him. I had no idea what he was thinking. He said he liked me, but I wasn't sure what that meant exactly. As a friend? No... we kissed. Just friends didn't usually do stuff like kissing. So.. did he want to become my boyfriend? Or had he just wanted to try it once? I was really nervous. I had no idea when or where I would run into him, so I couldn't prepare myself. I had no idea what to say to him.

“Jongin-ah!” a voice behind me called out.

It startled me. It was Suho.

“Did you do the homework? It was extremely difficult.” Suho asked.

“Ah! The homework!” I exclaimed. I had totally forgotten. After thinking way too much about Kyungsoo, I became so disconcerted that my mind left me, apparently. “What to do?” I said, looking at Suho.

“Fine, I'll show you mine... but is something up? You're not the type to easily forget something like this...” Suho looked at me closely with a worried expression on his face. I bit my lower lip. Busted. Once Suho caught a whiff of something, he was the type to not give up until he found the culprit.

“Uh.. oh... I'll tell you later... I'm late..”.

“Hi” Kyungsoo greeted us cutely. Me and Suho were in the middle of having lunch.

My heart jumped so suddenly and with such power, that the food went down the wrong way. I coughed.

“Oh...hi...” I said while coughing. Kyungsoo was way more handsome than I remembered.

“Can I sit here?” Kyungsoo softly asked. He didn't wait for an answer and just sat down. He sent me a very warm and sweet smile. I too couldn't help but smile.

“A present.” Kyungsoo handed me a small box.

“Uh.. a present?” I asked confused. Was there some kind of rule that said that if you kissed someone, you had to get them a present?

“Open it later.” Kyungsoo said embarrassed, and told me with his eyes to put the box in my bag. I quickly stuffed it in my bag.

“Oh, o! ...what have we here... what's the occasion?” Suho laughed. “And my present?” he coolly reached out his hand to Kyungsoo.

“No.. uhm.. see... it's a present you can only give your boyfriend...” Kyungsoo quietly explained.

“Boyfriend???” me and Suho spoke at the same time.

“Yeah.” Kyungsoo nodded firmly.

“You had a boyfriend?” Suho asked me.

“I didn't know either...” I laughed awkwardly.

“We kissed... do you kiss just anyone? ...of course you kiss your boyfriend...” Kyungsoo said disappointed with a slight pout.

“You kissed...?” Suho looked at me with a shocked expression.

“Ah... well... we just tried it out once... “ I felt so awkward I wanted to disappear. I didn't understand how Suho could ask me such a question in front of Kyungsoo. It was embarrassing. I got annoyed. I could see the disappointment in Kyungsoo's eyes.

“No...not... not just... wholeheartedly...”. Ah, I was going crazy.

“By the way, Suho, you remember my friend Sehun, right?” Kyungsoo asked Suho while ignoring me. He seemed like he was sulking. Cute.

“Yeah, why?” Suho put on a really serious face to hide his curiosity.

“Sehun really likes you, what do you think?” Kyungsoo said in earnest.

“Say what?” Suho's jaw fell to the floor.

“Oh! Let's double date!” I laughed.
