Seulgi POV

Eating inside the cafeteria with other 100 people is the last thing I ever want to happen. I hate people, crowded place, or noisy environment...hate them with my passion. 

“What’s wrong?” the beautiful girl beside me asked 

Maybe she saw me fidgeting in my seat uncomfortably. 

“Nothing!” I answered with my usual coldness tone

Suddenly, one guy intentionally bumps into me as he approaches the beautiful nurse beside me. Yeah, she is indeed beautiful and I haven’t got to know her name yet. So I call her beautiful nurse or a fallen angel. But who am I to begin with...I’ll going to let her know that. 

“Good morning my beautiful” the guy butts in between us as he flirting with her

“Hi sunbae” the girl replied with a smile 

When he raises his hand to touch her, his elbow hit my hand which is currently holding a cup of hot soup. The soup fell down as the hot liquid burned my flesh and fresh wounds. I abruptly stood up which startled both of the flirting bird in front of me. 

“Are you okay?” the beautiful nurse turned to me with worry all over her face

“No!” I shoved her hands away and hissed 

“It’s just a soup! Don’t make it a big deal” the guy smirked while looking at the fallen angel

I swear, I will kill this guy if we aren’t in front of these many people. I glared at him and left. I chose to leave that place before I let my anger takes over. The nurse ran after me as we reached the rooftop. 

“Sorry” soft and quiet...it’s so familiar 

“...” my mind was clouded with the image of a young girl

“Let me see your wound” I snapped back to reality when the nurse pulls my shirt up

“Don’t” I held her hand to stop her 

Honestly, I didn’t feel any pain or hurt from the wounds. I didn’t feel angry at the guy for making the hot soup eating my flesh either. It was something else, but I don’t know what it is. 

“Blood!” I stopped looking at the girl and looked at my wounds then back to the girl

Author POV

Seulgi saw panic and fear in Irene's eyes. Her fallen angel started to walk away, but Seulgi suddenly pulls her into a hug. She tightens her arms around the girl as the lost memories flashing in her mind. 

Irene didn’t struggle to break the hug because she scared that Seulgi’s wounds will become more serious. Instead, she pats the cold bear back to calm the bear down when she feels the bear is shaking in pain.

“P-please...h-help...s-someone help me” the 16 years old Kang Seulgi has hugged the girl 

“Don’t be scared. I’m here with you...you are safe now” Seulgi tighten the girl in her arms as if she will lose the vulnerable girl in her embrace forever 

Tears formed in Seulgi’s eyes. The cold bear loosens the hug and breath unevenly. 

“Let call Heechul oppa for help” Irene broke the hug when she feels Seulgi loosen it

But to Irene surprise, Seulgi took off her coat and covered Irene’s small body with it. The cold bear then pulls her small fallen angel into her arms again. She lets her chin rest on Irene’s shoulder. Irene was speechless for the whole time

“ It’s cold. Just...1 minute...stay…”Seulgi didn’t want to let Irene go...not now...or she doesn’t want to lose her fallen angel forever

‘Warm...she is so warm. Why this feeling feels so familiar?’ Irene didn’t fight back because she found the safeness and peace in Seulgi’s embrace

‘Bracelet...tell me...why did you give this girl to me after you left? What’s about her that giving me all these strange feelings and memories, and yet so familiar’ Seulgi was left so many questions

Seulgi started to hum a soft melody. I remember it from her previous nightmare. Seulgi found it strangely comfortable and familiar. She remembers that she did sing it before and sang it for someone...a girl. 

‘How can this cold bear know this song? Is she...what on earth have you done, Bae Irene’ Irene remember the song...no...not remember...but she swears that she will never forget this song even when she’s dead. 

“Where have you girls been and Seulgi is like that?” Taeyeon asked quietly 

Irene told Taeyeon the whole story of why Seulgi ended up getting fever after their encounter on the rooftop. But for their privacy, Irene didn’t include all the romantic parts between her and the cold bear. 

“Just go home and rest. Joy and I will look after Seulgi today” Taeyeon didn’t look at Irene because she’s mad at the girl and could burst out in a second but decided to stay calm

“I-I’m sorry...If you say so, I’ll excuse myself now” Irene was surprised by Taeyeon’s calmness

She swears that she saw the total ranged Taeyeon when she helps Seulgi back to her room. Everyone was giving her the questioning look but decided not to ask. Taeyeon was beyond mad and Joy was scared for her life when they found out Seulgi is having a bad fever after staying outside the cold winter for too long. 

But to Irene’s dismay, Taeyeon seemed calm after Seulgi whispered something to her. Joy was the one who mouths Irene a ‘thanks for today’ phrase.

On her way home, Irene received a message from Wendy and she knew she will be dead tomorrow with Son Seung Wan. 

“You have A LOT to explain to me tomorrow, Ms. Hella Straight Bae Irene!!!” 

Irene just sighed and feel a bit sad. Usually, she will be happy to get off work early. But for some reasons, she is sad and doesn’t know why. Maybe she just tired because a certain person brought her from one surprise to another surprise. She has been taking care of Seulgi for almost 2 months now and today is the first time they actually have gotten closer. 

“Or because you miss her...you 2 got MUCH CLOSER after today”

“No! I’m not missing that cold bear!” 

“Liar!”

“Stop it!” 

“You treated your life savior like trash...you guilt little Bae” 

“Just shut up already! But...how comes she remember the song and not me?” 

Thousands of questing running wild in Irene’s brain that night, but they were left unanswered. 

After Irene and Wendy had left, Seulgi woke up with the same nightmare that has been haunting her almost every night. Luckily, Taeyeon and Joy were there to accompany and calm her down. Then they would have a deep conversation throughout the long night. 

“Guys! Can you guys do a favor?” Seulgi asked 

“Of course, bear!” Joy was beyond happy because Seulgi never ask them for help

“What’s going on in your little sneaky brain this time?” Taeyeon asked 

“ I want to know more about a guy named Oh Sehun...I mean ALL” Seulgi emphasized 

“Why?” Taeyeon asked with curious and Joy nodded her head 

“I’ll tell you guys when I’m 100% sure” Seulgi never want to claim something that she hasn’t 100% sure 

“Okay! We’ll wait for your explanation, bear” Joy said with full of trust because Seulgi never fails them. 

They were silent after Seulgi closed her eyes to drown herself in thoughts. Taeyeon and Joy understood their friend as they excused themselves. Darkness and silence engulfed the room as soon as Joy and Taeyeon left. However, the coldness and death were nowhere to be seen tonight. But instead of the unfamiliar yet warm feeling are taking place tonight. 

Back to Irene’s house

“Unnie! You look happy today” an 18 years old Bae Yeri asked her sister while sitting on their bed

“Really?” Irene turned around after drying her hair

“Yeah! You’ve been humming a song since afternoon” Yeri said while reciprocating Irene’s action

“You little brat, stop that!” Irene hits her sister playfully 

“You look like a lovesick puppy!” Yeri burst into laughing

“Yah, Yah, Yah...Bae Yerim!” Irene trying hard to not showing her blush

“But I’m happy when my unnie being happy for whatever things that happened today” Yeri hugged her sister 

“Well…” Irene trailed off while remembering Seulgi’s warmness 

“Anyway, don’t forget my graduation day unnie. I want you to attend one of the biggest day of my teenage!” Yeri said 

“Yes, ma’am!” The two sister making fun of each other for a bit and sleep soon took over. 

In the dream, the 16 Irene had been lost for 2 days in a huge forest in while out hiking with her friends. She was scared for her life when one of the hiker man running after and trying to take the advantage of her. It’s was the night time and she was running through the darkness with fear

However, hiker man was knocked down and someone came to save her. Irene cannot see the person clearly because she has myopia (nearsighted) but didn’t have her glasses with her. 

“You are safe now” That person hugged her and her back to lessen her fear

She was crying and being a total mess, but that person warmness and caring had calmed her down. That person tight embrace giving her the security that she needed. 

At first, she pushed that person away because she thought that it’s the hiker man trying to harass her. After a moment, that person voice and hair giving Irene a hint that it’s a girl. Under the dim light of the moon, she noticed that she had caused the girl to have a big cut on the back when the girl hugs her and she did the same.

“Sorry” 

“I’m fine as long as you are fine” the girl gave Irene a piggyback ride

“Do we know each other?” 

“We do...I know you...but you never notice me” a sad chuckle could be heard by Irene

“Who are you?” 

“Nothing?” 

“What?” 

“...” the girl didn’t answer her but instead she’s trying to hum a soft song

“What is the song you are singing?”

“You!” 

“Huh?” 

“Remember that, when you are scared, hum this song and everything will be fine” 

“I will remember it” Irene was lost into the song and sleep took over her 

Standing quietly from afar 
There is me still worrying and caring about you
Just want you to be happy, the happy smile of yours
Although you will never turn back and look at me
Can you let me love you forever?
Even though we will never share the same path
To me, meeting you was the greatest thing that ever happened in my life 

Someone on the other side of the city happened to share the same dream as Irene. But unfortunately, that person didn’t get a chance to see the face of the girl that she has loved for her whole life. But the touch, warmth, voice, and the moment they shared will always remain there.

Especially the song that the 16 years old Kang Seulgi wrote and sang for the 16 years old Bae Irene was engraved in their heart as something that both of them will never forget.
