(So this one's gonna be real short!)

Creakkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk.......The sound of a chair scraping against the floor broke the silence of the night.

Rubbing my eyes, I felt around on the bed, when I remembered Ray now had his own room. Slowly getting up, I the side table light and walked over to Ray's room. We had doors connecting us and I'd made sure to leave them open tonight as he'd slept off without knowing his new surroundings beforehand. 

Seeing him sleep peacefully, I tucked him in more, when another high-pitched screeching noise of something  being shoved around on the tiled floor outside our apartment door startled me pausing me dead in my steps.

'Did I lock the doors? oh no......... what..if...' hundreds of thoughts started running through my head, as I silently sneaked towards the main door in the dark, and then carefully peeped through the eye hole.

Someone was pushing in a few boxes into the apartment right next to ours. Another guy followed him, sneaking in and looking around, as if hiding themselves from someone. Dressed in black!- along with the dimly lit corridor sent a chill in my spine. Deciding to not think more about this mostly due to the day's tiredness I backed away from the door. 

Slowly checking the locks, and heading back to my room, I made a mental note to ask building maintenance to quickly change the bulbs outside our apartment and the flickering light in the other hallway.
