Cry Out With My Heart and Soul
I was finishing signing out and filling out all the paperwork in the lobby when Yesung walked in in a white jacket, red V-neck shirt, and black pants. I smiled at the sight of him. “Don’t you look nice,” I gestured in his direction with the clipboard I was holding. “Very snazzy.” Yesung smiled and spun around, posing once he was facing me again. I laughed.
“You almost done?” Yesung looked onto the clipboard to see how much I had left.
“I just have to sign, and then you’re going to tell me who you’re in love with.”
“I have something planned for you.” I looked up from the clipboard. “Go ahead and sign!”
“Okay, okay…”
“But it’s really special.” I looked up again. “Come on, we haven’t got all day!”
I laughed sarcastically. “Well then stop saying things that keep me from signing!” Yesung kept quiet as I finally signed and handed the nurse the clipboard and pen. She waved me on.
We walked outside and Yesung pointed a remote towards a bright blue car that matched my own (currently in repair) red one. I rolled my eyes as we got inside. “Where are we going?” Yesung only looked at me and smiled.
“I would have put a blindfold on you to really surprise you, but it would look like I kidnapped you, so I decided against it.” I laughed.
“So…when will you tell me?”
“Be patient. I’ll tell you when we get there.”
My stomach was in knots the entire drive. It didn’t help that I didn’t know where we were going. Finally, we reached a long stretch of road I recognized. On our left was ocean and to the right was prairie. “We’re going to the No-Name town?” Yesung didn’t acknowledge my question. “Yesung??”
“I don’t want to spoil the surprise.”
I pouted in my seat until Yesung pulled off the road. I sat up curiously. “Where are we?”
“Remember that first day I met you, when I told you to pull over and be my model?” I nodded. “This is that exact spot.”
“That’s bull. How can you remember exactly where it was?”
Yesung shrugged. “Instinct, I guess. Come on, I brought picnic stuffs!”
We got out of the car and walked out to the beach. Yesung carried the picnic basket while I carried the blanket. The two of us set it down together and put rocks on each corner to keep it in place. After setting out the food, I was about to die from curiosity. “Tell me already!!”
Yesung smiled up at me. “No, I think I’ll drag this out as long as I possibly can. I like watching you be so paranoid.”
“You… I’m going to freaking kill you if you don’t tell me!!”
“Okay, fine.” He laughed, then, “You have to guess who it is. I’ll give you twenty questions.”
“ you. Is it me?”
“That’s not the kind of question I was looking for.”
“In the game twenty questions, I can ask any question so long as it’s a ‘yes’ or ‘no’ question, so answer the damn question.” By the end of my sentence, I was speaking through my teeth.
“You really haven’t changed at all, have you? Fine, I’ll answer your question.”
There was silence after that. “Sometime today, please…” Yesung smiled at me. Before I knew it, his hand had reached around my neck and pulled me closer until my lips met his. I wrapped my arms around him and we shifted closer, enveloping ourselves in each other.
I don’t know how long we stayed like that, but when we finally pulled away, Yesung answered, “Yes.” I smiled and kissed him again.
“Finally!” We turned to see Eunhyuk, Leeteuk, and Sugmin standing by Yesung’s car.
“Now, since you two are going out now,” Leeteuk started. They began to pick their way towards us.
“We have to give you hell.” Sugmin finished. “That means you’ll have to sneak around to date or go on double dates with us.”
The two of us laughed as the three intruders joined us on the blanket. “You brought enough food for all of us, right?” Eunhyuk asked. “I’ll cry if you don’t.”
I laughed. “Here, have my sandwich. I’ll just make Yesung share with me.” I scooted over, allowing Eunhyuk to take my spot. Yesung wrapped his arm around me and fed me bites of his sandwich. I thought I saw Henry at one point near the two cars parked on the side of the road, and I smiled at him. He smiled back and left, thankfully accepting that he was one chapter in my book of life, and one must keep reading and have other chapters. Some were longer than others, and some more meaningful than others, but each treasured in some way or another.
