“I am almost positive that spaghetti is not supposed to look like that,” Eunhyuk muttered in distaste.

I glared at my hyung and continued stirring the lumpy, slightly greyish mixture I had heating on the stove.

“I swear to God, I followed the directions line for line.”

Eunhyuk shot me a doubtful look, but I ignored him when Donghae bounced into the room, scribbling wildly at his notebook.

“New song idea?” Eunhyuk questioned, already standing and looking over his best friend’s shoulder. 

Donghae nodded, biting his lip in concentration.  I took advantage of my hyung’s distraction and scooped some of the offensive looking sauce into a spoon.

“Try this!” I offered brightly, shoving it into Donghae’s mouth before Eunhyuk could warn him.

Immediately, his face paled and his eyes started to water.  He threw his notebook down and ran to the sink, gagging and pawing desperately at his tongue. 

“ Kyu!  Are you trying to poison me!?”

I sighed in frustration and switched off the flame under the pot.

“I’ll call for take-out,” Eunhyuk offered, inching his way out of the kitchen as he shot frightened looks at the stove.

I glared down at the cookbook, blaming it for yet another culinary failure.  Eventually, Donghae pulled his head out head out of the sink and I had the decency to feel a little bad for him.  His eyes were glassy and the front of his shirt was completely soaked with the water he had used to rinse his mouth.

“Sorry” I muttered, giving him a sheepish smile.

Luckily Donghae had always been one of the milder members, and he seemed to take this in stride. 

“What exactly was that supposed to be?” he asked, maintaining a careful distance from the stove.

“Spaghetti sauce.”

“… Seriously?”

I shrugged and quickly emptied the contents of the pot into the trash.  My hyung was silent as he watched me clean up the mess, but I was still feeling too sorry for myself to even shoot him a snarky comment. 

I was Cho Kyuhyun; a genius, a certified god.  Literally everything I touched turned to gold.  So why the hell couldn’t I cook something to save my life?

“You know, you could always just ask Wookie for help.”

I scoffed and ignored Donghae, scrubbing the pot with much more force than necessary.

“Really, I’m sure he wouldn’t mind.  He’d probably be thrilled to know that you were finally taking an interest.”

I slammed the pot down and spun around angrily.  I felt my eyes blaze, and my hyung stepped back instinctively.  Before I could spit some nasty words in his direction, I felt a sharp smack to the back of my head.  I turned and shot my attacker a venomous glare, but Heechul was never one to be intimidated.

“Yah, Lee Donghae!  Can’t you see the maknae is missing his Ryeonggu?  Don’t make the lovesick bastard feel any worse!”

The tone was clearly mocking, but Heechul gave me a comforting squeeze on the arm before flouncing
