She was so achingly beautiful that it hurt to look at her. But Kyuhyun couldn't help but stare anyway. Almost as if she could feel his gaze, she glanced up and met his eyes, her lips curling into a shy smile. For a breathless moment the world faded around them and they were the only two in the room.
The spell was broken all too soon when Kyuhyun’s brother stepped between them, interrupting their silent exchange. Kyuhyun took care to hide the despair on his face, forcing down the longing that rose in his chest.
He watched quietly as her smile faltered slightly before widening again. She delicately accepted his hyung’s hand and together they stepped up to the podium.
To the church full of people, she appeared a perfect bride: strikingly elegant, endearingly delicate, and charmingly modest. But to Kyuhyun she was infinitely more. She was love and desire and all that was good in the world wrapped up in a single being.
She was absolutely everything—everything but his.
For the millionth time, Kyuhyun cursed his luck. If only he had been the first-born son. If only his fate could be rearranged. But there was nothing to be done. It was his brother’s wedding and Kyuhyun would play the role of dutiful brother and honorable best man.
Because it didn’t matter if Ryeowook was his first kiss, his first fevered touch, or the one he held in his heart. She was never meant to be his.
