"A demon," I repeated. Suddenly, the words from last night echoed in my mind. I summon a demon. Of course. "Wait so does this mean you come from Hell?"

The girls all looked at me like I was crazy. Jun just laughed. "No, of course not."

"Then, where do you come from?"

"I was born, just like every other creature. Just like you."

I wanted to protest that I wasn't born a Summoner. But, truth be told, I wasn't sure that was accurate. I mean I knew nothing about being one before now but I didn't know if that meant I was never able to do anything before. Shaking my head, I focused on a different question.

"What does it even mean to be a demon? Like, can you see the dead? See everyone's deepest darkest desires?"

"Some can. Every creature specializes in something. For me, that's fire." He raised up his hand and I watched in fascination as fire flew around it. "Demons are creatures of the dark. We work better in it. We need less sleep than regular humans and we tend to be stronger and faster than they are too."

"I see." I turned to my friends. "Are you all demons too?"

Jisoo choked on her drink and Rosé pat her back. Jennie shot me a dark stare while Lisa had a disguised look on her face.

"We most certainly are not!" Lisa cried indignantly. "No offense," she added to Jun as an afterthought.

"None taken."

"So then what are you guys?"

"I'm an energy master," Lisa told me. "Electricity is my thing." She held up her own hand. Purple electrical sparks danced around her knuckles.

"Jisoo and I are earthlings," Jennie continued. "Ice is my domain." She pointed at Jisoo's cup which immediately transformed into an ice block. "Jisoo controls earth."

"I won't show you that, though. At least. Not inside."

I nodded in understanding. "And Rosé?" I turned to my friend.
