Twenty Seven
Summoning the SupernaturalThe rest of the afternoon and evening passed by with relative ease in comparison. Mingyu and Hoshi were able to help me warm up so that the threat of hypothermia wasn't nearly as imminent as before. (I don't know what they did--I wasn't in the mood to ask--but it was effective; I dried off pretty quickly.) The three of them then helped me and a still unconscious Jun get back to my car.
On the ride back home, Jun came to. He was disoriented and confused and I used that as the perfect cover to stop him from asking questions. I knew I'd have to tell him sooner or later, but now really wasn't the time for it. Now was the time for a hot bath and at least a 12-hour nap. Then some blueberries.
We got home. I skillfully avoided my mother like the boss ninja I am and started up my bath right away. Jun hobbled his way up to the guest room and I'm assuming he crashed and went straight to sleep because I didn't see him until it was time to leave for school the next day.
I, on the other hand, soaked for a while, then decided to do some homework. I know, I know; it seems like such a trivial thing to focus on at the time. But saving the world seemed kind of pointless if I wasn't going to be able to get a decent job after. Besides, I found that a task as mundane and ordinary as doing homework actually helped to ground me. Even if only for only a few hours that day, I could feel normal, like my life didn't just turn to . I could pretend that my biggest worry was failing a test, not the end of the world. For a little while, the scariest thing on the planet would be Mrs. Shin if I didn't finish the essay she assigned us in time
