Chapter 13
Nam Woohyun's Journey to ParenthoodAfter much cajolling, sulking and plain blackmail, Sunggyu managed to convince Woohyun that a baby shower was the best thing to do at eighth month pregnant. Woohyun didn't gave in without his own rules of course and Sunggyu readily agreed.
"Kim Sunggyu!"
Sunggyu cringed at the voice and handed over the tray to Woohyun. From the way Woohyun was acting, you would think Sunggyu was lifting up something more heavy than a tray of sandwiches.
"It's just sandwiches." Sunggyu mumbled as Woohyun led him to sit on the couch.
"You promised that you wouldn't do anything for the baby shower. Anything at all." Woohyun glared slightly before moving to arrange the snacks. Sunggyu really regretted agreeing to that.
"He's really... Protective."
Sunggyu rolled his eyes at his sister when she sat next to him, wrapping one arm around his shoulder.
"He's overreacting," Sunggyu complained.
"He's doing what he needs to do. Or I'll cut off his for not taking care of my brother."
"Sis!"
"What? Oh, Boohyun's here! How do I look?"
Sunggyu didn't get to answer as his sister bounded off to cling onto Woohyun's brother. Seriously, those two should just started dating already. Sunggyu wasn't alone for long before Dongwoo and Hoya sat on either sides of him.
"How is my favourite whale?"
"Hoya, I know Sunggyu is huge but you really shouldn't call him whale!"
Sunggyu watched the two of them bickered above his head and something clicked.
"You two are on again?" Sunggyu asked with a raised eyebrow.
"Yeah. Just now," Dongwoo answered sheepishly.
"But I thought you two come with dates..." Sunggyu turned to look for Dongwoo's and Hoya's ex-lovers and saw the two of them standing close together. Sunggyu wasn't even surprised when the taller one stole a kiss.
"Apparently they clicked when they met during one of our double dates," Hoya explained.
"Just like you and Woohyun," Dongwoo added with a laugh.
"Please don't remind me. I can't believe you two are our matchmaker," Woohyun's voice sounded from behind Sunggyu and he felt a kiss pressed on top of his head.
"You two should make us your child's godfather," Hoya suggested.
"No way! You two are bad influences on children. I was thinking of making a visiting schedule for you. How about once a year sounds like?"
Sunggyu slapped Woohyun's arm playfully.
"Ignore him. He's joking."
"No, I'm not."
"Yes, you are."
Hoya noticed that they were slowly getting closer so he pulled Dongwoo away.
"Lets go find something to eat before these two make out in front of us and makes me loses my appetite."
Woohyun waved them off happily before pressing his lips onto Sunggyu's.
"Come with me. I have something to show you." Woohyun helped Sunggyu to stand up and led him to the backyard. They stood together under the fairy lights and simply enjoyed each other company.
Woohyun turned to face Sunggyu and with a smile on his face, he dropped onto one knee, holding out a pair of baby shoes on one hand, the other closed in a fist.
"When we broke up back then, I didn't realised how important you are to me. You are always a part of me even when we are not together. This baby is a miracle for both of us, a chance for us to try again. I promise to you that I would be a good husband to you and a good father to our child. So...Kim Sunggyu, will you marry me?" Woohyun opened his left hand and there glinting under the fairy lights, the engagement rings they had picked together months ago.
Sunggyu remained silent long enough to make Woohyun nervous before he suddenly clutched on his stomach.
"Oh!"
"Oh?" Woohyun blinked blankly.
"I think... I think my water just broke."
