Busy

One Thing

It was rare but it happened and each time it did many women working at Sen huddled together to do one thing, gossip.

“You see her there she goes again.”

“I wonder what she talks to Mr. Lee about?”

“Doesn’t she know that Soo-hyuk is a naturally busy man.”

“If she keeps this up I highly doubt they are going to stay together for long.”

Despite catching ear to some of the comments Si-yeon kept her head held high pressing the elevator button to the building’s highest level.

The company double doors opened and Bong-cha fast walked towards the elevators eyeing the wristwatch she had. It was pretty old but it belonged to her long deceased grandmother and still worked very well for it’s old age. “I hope I am not super late.” She muttered.

She stopped next to Si-yeon. Both dressed as if they were from two different worlds. Si-yeon had a red dress on, not long but it did hug her curves in all the right places. Her hair was styled off to the side revealing half of her white neck making her all the more alluring. On the other hand, Bong-cha was another story. Dressed only in a large blouse and a pair of comfortable pants with white sneakers was nothing compared to Si-yeon’s look with matching red heels.

The elevator doors open and both women step in, in silence. Bong-cha noticed that Si-yeon pressed the button for the 20th floor, her boss’ floor. Si-yeon crossed her arms looking forward on her beautiful reflection. Not at all did she bother looking over towards Bong-cha who awkwardly shifted from one foot to the other taking several glances at Soo-hyuk’s finance.

Tall, lovely, skinny and confident. Bong-cha wanted to be all of those things. Her jaw gaped at Miss Kim who tapped a heel as they just passed the third floor. Suddenly Si-yeon pressed floor 4. The elevator stopped on that floor to Bong-cha’s confusion.

“This is where you get off.” Si-yeon’s dry voice directed at Bong-cha.

“Excuse me?” She furrowed her brows looking up at Si-yeon with a confused expression.

But Si-yeon wouldn’t even dart an eye her way. “Just having you next to me is an eye sore. It would be nice to make it to Soo-hyuk’s office without having you latched onto my side, we are different people from different worlds. It would be best if I were to go up the 20th floor first. No hard feelings, I don’t want others thinking we’re friends.”

Bong-cha slowly moved one foot after the other walking out of the elevator turning back to Si-yeon who still wouldn’t look at her. “You should be happy. At least you can see it as a way to take the stairs from now and lose a few pounds, but even that is not enough to look like me.” She smirked.

The elevator doors closed leaving Bong-cha look at her reflection on the elevator doors of her short chubby stature standing there alone. ‘She’s right…’ Her sad expression turned upbeat in only half a second. She pumped a fist in the air. “She’s right! I should take the stairs from this day on forward!” She marched up to the doors of the emergency staircase pushing it out of her way jogging up her first flight of stairs.

Around level 10 Bong-cha breathed out heavily as sweat was clearly evident on her forehead. “Oh, only...ten more flights!” She looked up feeling her vision dizzy and her legs quivered but she still kept it up.

A light knock sounded on Soo-hyuk’s office door. “Come in.” He spoke without looking up assuming it was his new assistant Miss Bok.

She walked in with her red heels clicking on the marble floor. Si-yeon pushed the door closed with her heel before locking the door. Soo-hyuk finally looked up to see his future wife in a red revealing dress with a hint of cleavage. She only smiled at his expressionless face. “You like what you see?” Her voice chuckled taking a seat on one of the nearby chairs crossing her legs, her action made the red dress slip up a bit above her mid-thigh.

He cleared his throat trying to concentrate on his paper work. “Doesn’t it appear too revealing?”

Si-yeon smirked crossing her arms under her chest making it appear more full than it actually was. “Is my future husband getting jealous?” She raised a brow in a challenging manner.

“You can wear whatever you want, it doesn’t matter to me.” He countered in a nonchalant manner causing her smile to falter a bit but she retaliated standing up walking around behind his office chair. She leaned in pressing her against his back.

“What are you working on?” Si-yeon pretended to be interested leaning in a bit more.

Soo-hyuk sighed roughly. “Si-yeon, would you please be considerate enough to let me work in peace?”

Si-yeon giggled sliding a hand down onto his flicking the pen out of his hand. “You appear too stressed. How about you and I do something special tonight at your apartment to relieve you of that stress. Hmm…” She purred brushing her lips against his ear lobe.

Soo-hyuk pulled away. “I’m busy tonight.” Si-yeon couldn’t help but let some of her anger get the best of her.

She pulled away snatching his paperwork from his desk replacing it with her . Si-yeon skimmed through. “What could possibly be more important than the woman you are going to share your future with?!” Soo-hyuk attempted to snatch the papers from her but she playfully kept them at bay. “Say you are going to have dinner with me tonight and I’ll give you back what you want.”

Soo-hyuk stood up snatching the papers from her hands. “If it makes you happy, I will.” He hissed. That was all Si-yeon needed to hear to make her happy once again.

“Thank you.” She planted a kiss on his cheek hopping off his desk. “Believe me you won’t regret it.” Si-yeon winked at him as Soo-hyuk began to settle in his chair again. “Our dinner begins at eight. Be there earlier okay.” She opened the office door walking out, but turned back with a large smile. “Love you!” The door closed.

He couldn’t help himself from leaning back in his chair. Soo-hyuk placed an arm over his eyes. “I already regret it.” Since the beginning it was clear to him, Si-yeon wasn’t his type. There was something off about her and he knew it. One of the many things that bothered him was the fact that she already knew the number code to his apartment before he was told by his father to give it to her. Si-yeon was like a goat with horns, as soon as he agreed to the arranged marriage she rammed right into his life trying to make herself an important aspect of it, and it is really starting to annoy him.

Bong-cha entered the Graphic Design Lab in the 20th floor and the manager of that department immediately got onto her. “Miss Bok!” He walked up to her as she nervously looked up at his strained expression since he was clearly stressed and taller than her also pretty lean.

“Good morning Mr. Hong.” She muttered avoiding his handsome angry face.

“Why weren’t you here early this morning people need their coffee! We’re very busy today but I think you can still make it to get 23 coffees from Maos, the coffee shop across the street.” He eyed his wristwatch handing her his company card that only a select few important company individuals have. “I’ll cover it. Please hurry!” Bong-cha nodded quickly heading back out, this time she headed for the elevator.

Bong-cha entered and just before the doors closed another body managed to slip through. “Not this again.” The familiar female voice groaned. She turned to see Si-yeon crossing her arms over her chest tapping her heel.

This time they didn’t speak a word to each other as they lowered each level together. Si-yeon sniffed the air around her as it smelled pretty fowl. “Oh my god, are you sweating?” Bong-cha blushed red. “Oh, so you did take my advice. But unfortunately you fell short, that’s a pity.” They finally reached the last level. “I guess stairs are too much for a big girl. You should just stick with what you know best then, being lazy.” Si-yeon rolled her eyes walking out of the elevator first.

Bong-cha couldn’t help herself from feeling embarrassed and humiliated by Si-yeon’s comments towards her. But she decided to push it aside for the sake of her task, getting coffee.

The easiest part was to order and pay for the coffees. Of course after working under Mr. Hong before Mr. Lee she got know what all her co-workers favorite coffee types were by memory since she was almost always the one to get coffee for her team. The hardest part of the job though…

“Order finally ready for Miss Bok Bong-cha!” The female behind the counter piled several bundled coffees together stacked on each other. Yep, the hardest part was to carry them back...carefully.

“Thank you!” Bong-cha spoke to the one guy who was nice enough to open the coffee shop door for her.

Bong-cha gulped as the timer on the crosswalk was already counting down to 10 seconds. “Oh no!” She began to fast walk trying to be as careful as possible. 4 seconds in and she was already halfway. ‘I’m gonna make it!’

Plot! Bong-cha paused turning back to see that her wallet fell out of her open purse. ‘Nooo…’ 3 seconds. 2 seconds…

A young high school student walked past her with headphones on. Curiously he turned to her eyeing that wallet with coffees piled on her. ‘God what a hopeless case.’ He thought rolling his eyes.

‘I can’t just leave it…’ Bong-cha thought feeling her heart pound loudly in her ears as she felt her face heat up. ‘It’s embarrassing too!’

Suddenly her eyes that grew teary began to widen taking notice of the boy in school uniform pass her to get her wallet from the ground. Without looking at her directly he pulled on her blouse beckoning her to follow him cross. It all took way beyond 1 second and cars were beeping at them. He rolled his eyes managing to raise a middle finger on the some of the drivers to Bong-cha’s astonishment.

The boy finally turned to her waving the wallet in her face placing it in the small cross body bag on her. He zipped it so her wallet was securely inside. His closeness heated Bong-cha’s face even more or was it the coffee? Her eyes darted to his name tag, Lee Chan-yeol. ‘Why does that name sound somewhat familiar?’ Not only that his face appeared to remind her slightly of someone she knew.

As soon as he was finished he walked off another direction. “Thank you!” Bong-cha called out even though she realized it was stupid since he had Beats Studio headphones over his ears the entire time. He gave a back wave of acknowledgement only making her smile gratefully before heading back to Sen company, hopefully someone is nice enough to open the door for her all the way to the Graphic Design Lab.

Chan-yeol smirked revealing the company card with Hong Jong-hyun engraved on it plus a 100,000 dollar won he stole from Bong-cha while she was too captivated by his naturally charming good looks. “Hello compensation!” He kissed the bill before eyeing the card. “And more money to spend.” He stuffed the bill and the card in his blazer pocket.

Thankfully Bong-cha was well noticed due to her aroma of coffee by others that many had no problem opening the doors for her.

Soo-hyuk enters the Graphic Design Dept. “Yah, Jong-hyun.” He called out heading towards his best friend’s direction.

“Oh hey,” He busily typed a few things down on his computer before giving Soo-hyuk his full attention.

“Have you seen Miss Bok?”

Jong-hyun nodded slowly. “Sorry Soo-hyuk, but we needed her for a brief moment.” Soo-hyuk looked around hoping he can spot her among other employees working on their computers there. “She isn’t here. I used her for another favor.”

Soo-hyuk rose a brow. “Which is?”

Bong-cha huffed making her way in the Graphic Design Lab. “I brought the coffee!” Unaware that she answered her boss’ question in the knick of time. Soo-hyuk turned to Jong-hyun nodding his head in disapproval.

“What?” Jong-hyun shrugged. “We missed her.”

“Thank you Bong-cha!” Some girls commented.

“Thank you so much you don’t know how much I need this!” One of the guys expressed as everyone huddled over her trying to get a coffee while at the same time thanking her.

Bong-cha smiled warmly. “There is no problem to it. I’m always happy to get your fix.”

Lastly Jong-hyun thanked her grabbing the last coffee. “You know, when you get tired of Mr. Lee over there Bong-cha,” He leaned in pretending to whisper, “there is always a spot available here for you in Graphic Design.” Soo-hyuk rolled his eyes.

“Yeah as if an intern wants to go and fetch coffee for you all the time you addict.” Soo-hyuk nudged Jong-hyun. Jong-hyun poked Soo-hyuk as there little pestering immediately escalated into wrestling while Bong-cha couldn’t help herself but giggle to their cute rough play.

Even in their office setting they couldn’t help but be dorks. “Boys!” A female’s voice rang getting closer to the trio. “Shouldn’t you two be acting like men and getting back to work?” Jong-hyun’s right hand woman Park Yoo-ra intervened.

Both of them cleared their throats before fixing up their suits. “Yoo-ra’s right,” Jong-hyun began, “you need to settle down Soo-hyuk and be a man for once in your life.” He joked only gaining a rough punch to his chest.

“Boys!” Yoo-ra warned.

Soo-hyuk snickered. “Men think twice before they speak.” He patted Jong-hyun’s back.

“Aish, no fair…” Jong-hyun rubbed his hard chest. “I hopefully don’t die later today. This is how Houdini died you know.” Yoo-ra rolled her eyes pushing Jong-hyun towards his office while Bong-cha only giggled but immediately stopped as soon as she noticed Soo-hyuk’s eyes on her.

Bong-cha cleared . “Is there anything you want me to do this morning sir?”

Soo-hyuk nodded as they began to head towards his office. “Yes, I need you to make fifteen copies of a presentation for 12 o’ clocks meeting today.” She nodded following behind sniffing herself to check if she still smelled of sweat from earlier but thankfully not but only of coffee now thanks to Jong-hyun.

Meanwhile Soo-hyuk entered his office to fetch the papers he wants her to copy Bong-cha took the opportunity to sit in her new desk. She was only able to decorate it slightly yesterday, but now after work she was going to take more time on it. She holds new responsibilities so most likely she will be staying late, and that wasn’t a problem to her. The only being she had to take care of besides herself was her cat, Byte. He can managed an hour or two more without her today.

“Here they are.” Soo-hyuk came out from the open door. Bong-cha quickly stood up taking the papers from him. “Only fifteen copies.” She nodded. “One of them is for you. You will be joining the meeting taking notes for me.” Bong-cha nodded. “There may be one more thing you may need to do tonight, but it only depends on how the meeting goes.” He gave her a heads up.

“Uh, yes sir I’ll keep that in mind.” Without another word Soo-hyuk disappeared in his office. Bong-cha sighed, ‘I’m going to be very busy from this day onward. Bong-cha fighting!’ After what she has already been through today her spirits failed to falter.
