Day 13: Gingerbread
Gingerbread and TinselThere’s a dragon in his living room. Donghae would be shocked, but really, after the centaur he found in his bathroom looking lost and politely asking for directions, he doesn’t think anything can really surprise him anymore.
Besides, this one is so small he’d think it was just a lizard if it wasn’t for the wings. The scorch marks on his coffee table are also a pretty big clue. If it hadn’t been bought on sale, he might be more sad than exasperated.
He heads straight to the apartment room next door and gives the door a sharp rap. There’s a faint shout from inside and Donghae waits curiously as the noises only get louder. The door suddenly opens, and Hyukjae’s frazzled hair peeps out from the opening.
“Donghae!” Hyukjae greets, his eyes anxious but his smile genuine. “What’s up? Do you want me to wrap some more presents for you?”
“I’m all set,” Donghae says, smiling even as Hyukjae clutches the door suspiciously close to his chest. “I think you’ve lost something?”
Something close to panic flashes across Hyukjae’s face, and Donghae wonders just how successful Hyukjae thinks he is at pretending to be normal. “Have I?” he tries, going for innocently curious and missing by a mile.
Donghae can’t help himself. “It’s kind of small,” he says, keeping his voice carefully neutral. “Scaly, kind of cute really. It has wings too. Also, I think you owe me a new coffee table.”
