Day 1: IT'S STILL NOVEMBER
Gingerbread and TinselPerusing the shelves, Donghae inspects the candle display with a small smile. He picks up a cinnamon one and gives it an experimental sniff, considers it for a moment and places it into his basket. He begins humming under his breath to the song in the background and glances to the side when another customer groans.
“Why are there Christmas songs,” the man complains to the cashier, leaning over the desk dramatically while his items are rung up. “It’s still November!”
“Chill Hyukjae,” Junsu says, his expression as cheery as the font on his nametag. “At least it’s not Justin Bieber.”
“I’d take Justin Bieber by this point,” Hyukjae grumbles as Donghae steps into line behind him. “Mariah Carey was fine the first time but by the thousandth, I just want to shoot myself.”
“Oh, please don’t do that,” Donghae says with a cheeky smile, “you’re too cute for that.”
Hyukjae jolts upright to stare at him in shock. Junsu smiles as he finishes wrapping some melts and says, “If you’re interested, he’s single. Very, very single. Also pretty oblivious to flirting so please, continue being blunt.”
“Junsu,” Hyukjae hisses, red blooming high on his cheekbones.
“Donghae is one of our best customers,” Junsu continues, ignoring Hyukjae’s embarrassment. “A+ guy, 10/10 would recommend. If you two date and break up, I’m siding with him.”
“Hey!” Hyukjae protests, absently paying as he takes his bag. “You’re supposed to be my best friend!”<
