Chapter 5: One Year
In Another Life
Nayoung slammed open the door not waiting for a response before sitting down in the leather chair.
Key and Taeyeon sat down as well, handing over the file before continuing.
“I’m sorry we come off too strong.”
“I can’t blame you for that”
“Let’s finish this off then shall we?”
Nayoung opened up the file to be greeted with a lot of accumulated data.
“Over the years, we have actually gathered enough information to say the Minkyung is a universal imbalance. Unfortunately, unless they are gone, the worlds will be thrown into chaos.”
“Correct me if I’m wrong,” interrupted Taeyeon, “but, I believe you and Yebin have dealt with universal imbalances before.”
“Yes, we have actually. It was a few centuries ago, that girl still ceases to amaze me.”
“Yes, I remember. She was a tragedy. I can still clearly visualise her eyes with tears before she left us.”
Nayoung paused.
“So Minkyung really does have to go huh?”
She didn’t really know who she was saying that to. A quiet paused spread over the team, allowing Nayoung to accept and think of a way to tell Yebin.
“How long do we have?”
“Can’t really say. She’s 17 so maximum would maybe be a year.”
“A year, a year for her to get over a love that has been going on for much longer and kill her.”
Nayoung, Key and Taeyeon were lost.
“We’re sorry,” Taeyeon mumbled.
“It’s not your fault. It’s mine. I should have never let her get this close to a mortal.”
Nayoung glanced at them both before teleporting out of the room, back into their apartment. She took out her phone and texted their address to Minky.
She looked up at the clocked. 11:28pm. Minkyung probably had some extracurricular the next and was most likely already asleep. She walked towards Yebin’s door, walking into the unlocked room where she found a curled up Yebin on top of her bed sheets. She was asleep, Nayoung could hear her slow breathing.
