Prologue
On Days That I Miss You Like CrazySeunghyun was through his second glass of wine when someone brought him up.
“So, guess who I ran into the other day?” Youngbae swirled his whiskey in one hand as he broke the silence.
The table turned to him in acknowledgment, though most of them were still tapping on their phones in disinterest.
They were currently sitting in their usual bar in central Apgujeong for their usual Friday drinks.
“Seunghyun!” Youngbae announced, the whole group turned to look at Seunghyun in confusion, Youngbae shook his head at the raised eyebrows.
“No not Seunghyun hyung, Lee Seunghyun!” Youngbae set down his glass, his expression animated, “Remember? Little Seunghyun!”
“Oh!” Daesung exclaimed, “Little Seunghyun… Seungri?”
“Oh yes, I remember that kid, a little brat he was.” Xin sighed beside him, “God, how long has it been?”
"Five years?” Soohyuk offered helfully, “Nearly six.” He sounded surprised himself as he sipped on his drink. “Wow.”
“Yea, I ran into him after I dropped by your place.” He was looking at Seunghyun, who blinked at him blankly.
“You know that new café downstairs that you complained about taking too long to renovate and was making too much noise?”
Seunghyun nodded after a beat, “Yes?”
“Turns out little Seunghyun owns it!” Youngbae chuckled, “Did you never run into him?”
Seunghyun blinked again and shook his head, “No.”
“Oh, well, I ran into him after visiting you last week, you should really get out of the house more, hyung.”
Seunghyun nodded slowly, his mouth felt dry despite the wine he was sipping.
“Wow, little Seunghyun in a café?” Daesung chuckled, “That is surprising, I thought he would become a banker or businessman.”
The conversation was cut short when the group saw Kwon Jiyong walk through the door, sunglasses covering his eyes and a pretty lady hooked on his arm.
“Hey!” He flashed his teeth and waved when he spotted his group of friends, he turned to whisper to the familiar looking woman beside him, who giggled before kissing him on the cheek and walking out the door.
“Sorry, traffic.” Jiyong grumbled as he fell into a plush chair beside Seunghyun, “..amongst other things.” He grinned wickedly.
Youngbae rolled his eyes, but Daesung was giving him just the reaction he wanted
“I recognize her! She’s that Japanese model right? My ad agency filmed a commercial with her last month….” He frowned, struggling to pull the name from his head, “Eli…Ellie…”
“Erika.” Jiyong provided helpfully.
“Right! Erika!” Daesung snapped his fingers, “She’s like, Japan’s new national sweetheart.”
“So is this the rumoured new girlfriend of the almighty kpop legend GD?” Youngbae elbowed his best friend playfully, “You should have invited her in.”
“Eh, I wouldn’t put a label on it yet. Plus, she had somewhere to go in the area, that’s why I gave her a ride.” Jiyong looked around his circle of friends who all had unbelieving smiles on their faces and shrugged. “So what were you guys talking about?”
“Oh, Youngbae hyung was just saying he-”
“Was forced by his mother to go on a blind date next week.” Seunghyun finished off Daesung’s sentence abruptly, causing the whole table to widen their eyes at the sudden and surprising news.
“He was?!” Daesung turned to Youngbae who was now flushed red, “Hyung!” He hissed, shooting a glare at Seunghyun who sipped on his drink with wide, innocent eyes.
“Really Youngbae?” Jiyong burst into a fit of laughter, “Man I knew aunty would be sick of you still living at home someday. Congrats man.” He clapped his embarrassed friend on the shoulder.
“So our Youngbae may have a chance at not dying a ?” Xin clapped his hands, hooting with laughter.
Hyuksoo glanced at Seunghyun thoughtfully before smiling and raising his glass, “Good luck Youngbae.”
“To Youngbae hyung!” Daesung raised his glass to a Youngbae who was now covering his flushed face with his hand.
“To Youngbae's ity!” Xin offered helpfully, earning him a round of chuckles.
