“Seokjin,” Chaeyeon waves her hand in front of his face in an attempt to capture his attention, “are you okay?”

Seokjin snaps out of his daze and smiles at the beautiful girl before him. “Yeah, I’m fine.”

“Okay, let’s order. What do you want to eat?”

“Um… Just the usual…”

“Okay.”

As Chaeyeon lists out the order to the waiter, Seokjin’s attention drifts back to something else. Or rather, someone else.

He got to date he girl he wanted to date for so long, but why does he feel so… empty inside? And why can’t he stop thinking about Lee Haeju?

    “Omo, Seokjin, look at those roses! Aren’t they pretty?”

    Seokjin smiles slightly at Chaeyeon. He enters the shop, grabs the bouquet and buys it for her.

    “Thanks, Seokjin,” Chaeyeon grins happily, inhaling the sweet scent of the roses.

    As they are about to leave the shop, Seokjin sees a few smaller pots out of this corner of his eye near the shop’s entrance.

    Those plants are nowhere near as attractive or flashy as the roses, but for some reason, Seokjin is drawn to them.

    “Seokjin-ah! What are you looking at?”

    Chaeyeon follows Seokjin’s gaze and sees…

    Cacti? She frowns.

    “Those aren’t as pretty, are they?”

    Seokjin takes one look at Chaeyeon and smiles.

    “No, they’re not.”

    “Then why’d you keep staring at them?”

    “For some reason, I like them a lot better.”

    “This has been a great day, thanks, Seokjin,” Chaeyeon says, a bright smile on her face.

    “It’s my pleasure,” Seokjin replies.

    Chaeyeon is about to lean in and give Seokjin a peck on the cheek, but suddenly her phone buzzes with a text. He watches as she taps open her phone to read it.

    Chaeyeon’s eyes widen in shock and her hand goes up to .

    “Oh my god,” she gasps.

    “What happened?”

    “Haeju’s dating Min Yoongi.”

    kim seokjin: yah

kim seokjin: haeju

kim seokjin: haeju

kim seokjin: LEE HAEJU

    lee haeju: WHAT

    kim seokjin: are u dating min yoongi

    lee haeju: so what if i am

    kim seokjin: why

    lee haeju: what do you mean why i can date whoever i want

kim seokjin goes offline

    3 weeks later

I scroll through pictures on Chaeyeon’s instagram. They are filled with selcas of her and Seokjin being the perfect couple that they are. Seokjin often takes her out on dates, and judging from the pictures it seems like they often go on study dates together after school.

They both seem really happy.

I sigh and smile sadly, unable to help the slight bitter twinge in my heart.

Even after three months, I still can’t expel Seokjin from my heart.

And even though I keep telling myself to stop thinking about him, that I deserve way better,

Sometimes it still hurts.

    “Hey, Chae.”

    Chaeyeon called me out for coffee this morning, saying it was urgent.

    “Sit,” Chaeyeon says, “I’ve ordered your favorite caramel frappe.”

    “Thanks,” I say, taking a sip of the sweet drink.

    “So, what’s up?”

    Chaeyeon takes a deep breath, then cuts to the chase.

“Seokjin and I broke up.”

    My eyes widen instantly and I almost spit out my drink. “What? Why?”
