Slide Those Digits My Way
I Just Wanted To Walk My DogI wasn’t able to go to the doggie park for a week with all my assignments and obligations. I wasn’t going to ditch my work and other plans for a boy. No matter how cute he or his dog was. Besides we never agreed to meet on any day specifically. He might not even be there today. That didn’t stop me from putting a little more effort into my outfit today and applying a lip tint before I left though. Just in case. Despite my efforts I could feel my heart speed up at the thought of seeing him again. I wasn’t the only one. It seemed like Kookie missed his new friend too. He had been scratching at the door all week. I could only take him out for short walks around the apartment in between study breaks. Turned out I had nothing to worry about. As soon as that white bench was in sight Kookie tore off once again.
“Hey, you.”
“Hey. I came earlier this week but I didn’t see you.” Had he been looking for me? My heart jumped at the idea. I silently chided myself. I had to play it cool. I couldn’t be an easy girl. Besides he probably just came to walk his dog in the dog park like any other normal person.
“Yeah school and life kind of got in the way. Hey come to think of it. It would be more convenient if we had each other's number. So how about sliding those digits my way?” I tried to say nonchalantly while internally cringing. Slide those digits my way? Who says that? I had never asked for a guy’s number before.
“Yeah of course. I totally forgot last time. Mochii was so disappointed when Kookie wasn’t here last time.”
“Kookie missed Mochii a lot too. He’s been practically begging to come here again. I guess they have some kind of doggy bromance.”
That night he texted me.
Z: Hey. Did you get home safe?
J: Yeah. How about you?
Z: I did, too.
J: Good. If you ever feel unsafe, I can be your bodyguard.
Z: Shouldn’t that be my job? I don’t think a shorty like you could protect me.
J: What a rude giant dork.
Z: Lol good night.
Z: Sweet dreams.
J: Night. Sweet dreams :)
