If asked what the best job in the world is, Goo Junhwe won’t ever say it’s his job.

Because really, despite the chances to travel all around the globe, the millions deposited in his bank accounts as a salary, and the opportunities to push himself to the very limits, doing the work itself can be very dangerous. Deadly dangerous even.

That’s besides the fact that the work has caused a chance of lifelong happiness to leave him. The only chance that really mattered and now he’s screwed for life. That’s the biggest downside.

He rolls his eyes, simply raising two fingers to catch the sign pen Hanbin had thrown towards his face in almost blinding speed. He flicks the pen to his palm and starts twirling it using the rest of his fingers.

“You’re slipping into internal monologues again.”

“So?”

“So quit it. This is a Code Red joint mission Agent 14. We can’t be relaxed.”

Junhwe smirks and shrugs. “What, is our great deputy afraid of the White Lotus? Besides, those guys are relaxed enough to be late in a Code Red mission briefing. Why can’t we?”

“The White Lotus is still one of the most dangerous shadow organizations in Asia so no, we can’t let our guard down.”

“And I’m the best secret agent Asia has to offer.” Junhwe answers, twirling the pen one last time and putting it on his pocket. The pointed look Hanbin throws makes him roll his eyes again. “Okay, one of the best. If that damned Ezra doesn’t exist you won’t be arguing.”

Hanbin sighs and shakes his head, giving up trying to argue. Junhwe smirks again but doesn’t press further. It’s not like he’s relaxing. It’s just that he has absolute confidence in his skills and he won’t be deterred by a collaboration with the one underground organization the government won’t dare get rid of.

The silence of the stifling all grey room is disturbed when there’s some loud talking from outside. Junhwe exchanges glances with his superior before Hanbin stands up to see what it is, only for the door to open a gap and Chaeyoung, their secretary, peeks inside.

“Sorry sirs, but there’s two men here who claims to be the ones you’re supposed to meet--

“Heya guys!”

The door is fully swung open and in comes a man with bright blonde hair and two piercings on his left eyebrow. He’s wearing a full black designer suit, minus the necktie, that’s contrasted by the neon colored elastic bracelets around his wrists. Junhwe raises his eyebrow at the disjointed sight. Watch him be the boss of the White Lotus or something.

“Wassup I’m Bobby. The heir. We brought pizza for the staff if you don’t mind.”

Hanbin is immediately on alert, standing straight and cautiously moving nearer to their guest. Unlike him, Junhwe stayed sitted, hand clamped on his mouth to prevent himself from snickering. Hanbin shoots him a small frown so he moves to stand up until he hears someone outside. It’s another guy, apologizing to Chaeyoung for his “hyung”’s behavior.

That’s not what made him freeze for a second. It’s the fact that he knew that voice. He can’t mistake it for anything else.

He turns to look just as the person enters, who’s also in a similar black ensemble as the White Lotus heir. Their eyes meet.

Bobby wraps an arm around him with a proud eye smile on display. “This is my younger brother, our best of the best. You guys know him as Ezra.”

“So the enigma that is Ezra is actually a member of the White Lotus.” Hanbin nods, eyes wide in surprise but definitely impressed. “Pleased to meet you two. I’m B.I, deputy head of The Republic of South Korea’s National Intelligence Service.”

He feels Hanbin grab his arm and pull him up. “And this is our best, Agent 14. Please forgive his poor manners.”

“Woah. I expected the Agent 14 to be way older.”

There’s an immediate moment of awkward silence so Hanbin discreetly elbows him. Speak, that’s what Hanbin’s trying to tell him but no, he won’t. He’ll definitely lose his cool and that’s not what he wants to show to everyone.

Ezra, huh? Well, that explains some things and adds some more questions.

“I guess Donghyuk is another code name of yours.” he blurts out despite his previous judgment not to speak. He glares at the other male.

He hears Bobby gasp “Oh ” and sees Hanbin drop his jaw from the corner of his eye. “Ezra” smiles, completely unbothered, and reaches out to shake his hand. He tries to pull his hand out but the other agent holds on.

“No, that’s my true name. How have you been June-ya?”

He’s fine. Never been better.
