Kyuhyun watched Joohyun’s eyes filled with a translucent happiness when the old lady opened the box and saw the canvas they put inside.  It was an airbrush painting that mirroring Bona-Imo’s late husband’s portrait that has been a sole ornament  in the wall of the living room in their (because it was no longer only Kyuhyun’s – he would like to think) house in Jeju.

He painted the canvas himself last night, in the small private studio owned by Sehun’s parents, after an almost endless search mission that they did in the afternoon because Joohyun did not want to bother Sehun (or maybe because she didn’t want to be distracted). Until it was 9 pm and Kyuhyun literally dragged her to knock Sehun’s apartment to get access to the studio so he could find a blank canvas and painted the scene they wanted to capture by his own hand.

And because Kyuhyun wanted to know Sehun and to understand the relationship between the two without having a false guessing.

He had spent an hour in the park behind Choi’s residence to contemplate on Joohyun’s and his own action for the last few years of their togetherness. He had never seen Joohyun felt that guilty when he looked at her and questioned about the boy who intrigued him a lot since he first found the younger chatted with her.

Never in their lives that he ever seen that expression. Not when she forgot to mention about Donghae on his first visit to her school, and not when she went with Changmin on ‘secret mission that looked like date’ in high school.  So he wanted to know.

He wanted to know if he was still the one who made her ‘the happiest woman alive’.

Sehun was shocked when he saw the two at his front door, looking all wet and unsure but laughing and holding each other’s hands when he found them.  Kyuhyun could not blame the younger man when he was spending a good ole minute in silence to overcome his own feeling. Kyuhyun thought he might do the same if the situation was flipped the other way around.

But he had to admit that the young man was someone who he could admire for his calm and control behavior. While he clearly looked flustered, he pulled the key and gave it to Joohyun so they could open the studio themselves.

Then Kyuhyun asked if he could come with them. Because someone needed to talk to Joohyun to prevent her for falling asleep when he painted the canvas. He could see that Joohyun was surprised too. So he squeezed her hand and she understood.

He gave her a chance to explain to him why an Oh Sehun was so special for her. 

Kyuhyun understood that she understood when she squeezed his hand back and smiled to Sehun and told him that she would love to because only the young man could entertained her from getting into the slumber land.
