Chapter 1

Romeo and Juliet in Seoul

A/N: The chapters are pretty short, but they help me update quickly.

Cho starred at the interviewer, tapping her feet to calm her nerves. She knew that if she said one thing wrong, she could ruin everything, not just for herself, but also for the members of her group, G². Her best friend in the group, Michelle, nudged her elbow playfully trying to ease her nervousness. This made Cho even more nervous. She and Michelle had been partners ever since she first arrived in Seoul one year prior. Screwing up this interview meant potentially screwing over the group and her best friend.

“So, Cho,” the interviewer began, “Your group, G², is participating in the annual Help for Hearts benefit concert with several other popular kpop groups. Is their any pressure on you guys to perform at a certain level?” The interviewer, Sara Park, worked for Allkpop.com, and she was a veteran in her field. Her words seemed nice and simple enough, but judging by the intense look in her eyes, her intentions were clear. She wanted a story, and that meant that she wanted drama. Cho knew it was her job to not give her that.

“Well,” Cho started, “There’s always pressure to put on a good show, we always want to give our fans the best that we can possibly give them, so yeah, I’d say that.” Cho ran her fingers through her long blue-black hair and gave Sara a reassuring smile, even though she knew this wasn’t over. Sara nodded and continued with the next question directed to Cho again; she knew that she was the most vulnerable of the group, being the maknae, so most of the questions were going to be pointed towards her.

“Ok, so let’s talk about what everyone wants to know, is there any backstage competition going on with any of the other groups performing?” Sara’s eyes grew wide.

All Cho could think of after hearing that question was “U-kiss”. G² was performing at the benefit concert with their idols, f(X), one of their favorite groups, B2ST, and their own personal rivals U-Kiss. Ever since G² debuted with their first hit single “Boys” and fought for the number one spot on the charts against U-Kiss’s “Binguel Binguel” there was always a Battle of the es like rivalry between them. Of course, that was way more than Sara needed to know.

“I feel like we are all more focused on performing at our best than being better than each other at this point.” Cho was proud of her answer, though she maintained her average expression. Sara stared at her for a few seconds before switching her attention to the other members of the group, Michelle, Yuri, Anna, and Luna. Just as she began to ask them all questions, a familiar group walked into the room. Cho’s eyes darted towards the door before anyone else’s. The seven members of U-Kiss had just walked into the room and everyone could feel the tension heighten. They walked over and addressed Sara, completely ignoring G². Kevin, with newly reddish-blonde hair said to Sara,

“It’s 6:00 p.m., our interview was scheduled for 6:10 p.m.” Sara looked astonished at how rude Kevin was, but instead of being offended, she seemed to admire it.

“Well then,” Sara said while checking her Blackberry, “You guys are right on time.” They discussed their own interview while G² sat there, almost as if their own interview was completely pushed aside. Michelle stood up,

“Sara, they might have an interview scheduled, but ours isn’t finished. You were asking us our last question before Ew-Kiss, I mean, U-Kiss walked in.” Michelle tried not to be rude to Sara, but she had to get her point across for her group. Cho loved this about her best friend; she always stood up for herself and spoke her mind. Of course, Cho had a feeling this wasn’t going to end well, no matter what they said. Luna grabbed Michelle’s arm,

“ ‘Chelle, it’s not worth it, it’s about to be 6:10 p.m. anyway. Let’s just go get lunch or something.” As Michelle took her advice and they grabbed their purses to leave, Kiseop said something,

“You guys sure you need another meal?” in broken English. Michelle couldn’t help herself,

“Honey, its called Rosetta Stone, use it. Let’s go.” They got up to leave while Kiseop looked slightly embarrassed. Ironically, Eli started to giggle in the background. Meanwhile, Sara made sure to pay attention to this exchange. Cho knew she was probably going to try to make this into a story of some sort, which was why they needed to leave as soon a possible. As they got out of their chairs, the members of U-Kiss filled them in and got more chairs to make up for the two extra members. Cho rolled her eyes as she left.
