Missed Meeting
In the TearoomThe grim reaper stared at the scene of the horrific car accident. The front and back of the Volkswagen were smashed to smithereens with tiny fragments of glass littering the ground. The smell of charred tar and smoke permeated the air and there was the sound of wailing sirens in the distance. Bodies slumped lifelessly in their seats, eyes forever clenched shut in the impact that stole their lives. A pool of blood was starting to form on the ground, the scarlet brightness of it blinding and gory.
He waited impatiently, holding their name cards in his hand. It had been a busy morning and the headquarters had informed him out of nowhere that he was to take this shift. Annoyance washed over him as his stomach growled, reminding him of his half-eaten apple sitting on his desk in his room.
The man and woman stirred, eyes opening in fear and panic as they surveyed their surroundings. Disbelief and fear clouded their eyes as they saw their mangled bodies sandwiched between the narrow area between the car seat and the dashboard. The fair-skinned male, who had been driving was lying prone, head twisted in a grotesque manner, with blood trickling down his face. The female looked to be in better shape, with only a minor scattering of bruises adorning her face and a cut that was already clotting crowning her head. On closer inspection however, they would have found out that her vertebrae were crushed and her spinal cord had been severed from the neck down. Had she had survived, she would have been confined to a bed at best or stuck as a vegetable in a coma at worst.
