Description

To be immortal is to live in chains everyday of your life without any hope of freedom.

Foreword

He was always so stunning. Jongin and Kai thought he was greater than the sun when they were just children. They never once saw the monster he could become, the ferociousness and bloodlust that accompanied him. He was once so kind, how could it have come to this? How could their loving older brother become such a souless  creature.

He wiped the blood of the painter from his lips as he smiled up at his brothers, dropping the lifeless body from his arms.

"Sorry I didn't save you some. I just got carried away." Yifan said.

Jongin thought he might throw up, he's never seen such a monstrosity in all his twenty-three years of life. Yifan's eyes were glowing a brilliant shade of gold unlike anything either of the twins had ever seen before as he stood up. He chuckled as he looked at the painting.

"It's lovely isn't it? Oh, I could practically taste his talent."

"Y-you-" Jongin attempted to speak, but something akin to fear constricted his words.

"Me?" Yifan teased.

"You ate him." Kai finished for Jongin.

"Correction," Yifan growled, "I drank him."

"Like the Night Children?" Jongin questioned, his voice low.

"Oh, exactly like the Night Children!"

Both Jongin and Kai jumped backwards in terror as Yifan raised his voice, the smile he wore in that moment was more fearsome than even that of the devil.

“I am so much more powerful than you could ever know." Yifan stepped towards his younger brothers, something akin to excitment sparkling in his eyes. He was intoxicated. "Join me!" he yelled.

Jongin and Kai shook their heads in protest, they would never lower themselves to that level of disgust. They were purebred werewolves and to turn themselves into some grotesque experiment -freak of nature- like Yifan had to himself, was something they would never resort to.

Yifan looked displeased by their clear answer to say the least. He knew his baby brothers would be hesitant at first, but they would join him. They had to. Yifan took another step towards them, his eyes widening as he felt something pierce the skin of his stomach. He looked down to see Kai's hand holding the hilt of letter opener in his body. He smiled at the feeling of his body trying to heal itself around the blade. He was unstopable now. So much power flowed through him, it was more than intoxicating or empowering, it was exhilarating. He looked into Kai's eyes, the horror so clearly evident in them as he did. Yifan scoffed as Kai pulled the blade out, immediately slicing it across Yifan's face, then at his throat. Yifan stumbled as he fought to catch his breath. The wounds were healing, he could feel it, but still the deep wound made him feel like his breath was being taken away.

Before he had a full chance to completely recover Kai was leaping towards him, swinging his body over Yifan's own. Kai kicked at the back Yifan's knee, knocking the latter down and immediately used every bit of force to snap his neck while Yifan was still recovering from the wound on his throat.

Jongin gasped, but didn't object. Kai ran around the body of their brother and grabbed Jongin's hand, pulling him out of the building as quickly as he could.

So late at night there were no people out and the fear of what Yifan had become loomed over the two like a neverending shadow.

"What do we do?" Jongin questioned, his fear laced in every word.

"I don't know." Kai replied.

They couldn't go home, not now, they had just murdered their brother, at least what was left of him. The townspeople would have no clue what type of demon he had become, Jongin and Kai would surely be hanged for the crime. Kai couldn't allow that to happen. He panicked as he looked around for some direction they could run. The blood on Kai's hands was sticky and the warmth of it was distracting.

Suddenly they heard laughter. They both turned around to see Yifan standing in the doorway of the painter's shop, chuckling as he walked slowly towards Jongin and Kai.

"Oh my god..." Kai muttered.

"How is he still alive?" Jongin questioned, his fear rising and churning inside him.

"I don't know, come on!"

Without further word Kai was pulling Jongin left, towards an old abandoned looking barn.

"You can't run from me!" Yifan yelled, still slowly walking towards his brothers as though he had all the time in the world.

Yifan, without control, had suddenly run faster than he had ever run before. WIthin the blink of an eye he was was nearly entirely caught up with his brothers. He stopped, chuckling at the headrush he got from the the movement. He laughed and did it again, getting to the doorway of the barn just as his brothers made it inside. He chuckled at their fear as they backed away from him.

"You have nowhere to run. Join me willingly my brothers, this feeling, this power, it's amazing unlike anything you have ever felt before."

"You're a disgusting creature. A disgrace to everything we've ever known!" Kai snarled, protectively putting his body in front of Jongin.

"You just don't understand." Yifan said.

"We understand perfectly." Jongin growled. "You're a monster!"

Yifan snarled with such ferocity that Jongin and Kai felt their legs shake and their hearts pounded so hard in their chests they both thought that their hearts would break free.

"I can hear your hearts beating. So fast in light of your fear. Let me take that from you. Let me take that fear." Yifan said, sweetly in the same way he used to when they were young.

Kai and Jongin still protested and Yifan shrugged.

"Fine." he said. "Have it your way."
