Panic and Hugs and Everything in Between

[Really a joint project]

“Laura, are you okay?” Jimin asked, reaching over to take my hand.

He looked me in the eyes, trying to find any sign that I was listening.

I wasn’t.

It was happening again, like it always did when there were lots of people somewhere. The panic took over, my vision started to blur, the low murmur of voices became a loud screech for isolation. I couldn’t think, couldn’t respond. Heck, I could barely breathe.

“Laura, listen to me, okay? It’s going to be okay… Just calm down. Please.”

I couldn’t.

I could vaguely feel his arms wrapping around me, trying to calm me down. “It’s okay. It’s just a park, okay? There’s people, but don’t worry…”

I didn’t understand.

Why was this scaring me?
