Every morning, the bright echoes of birdsong bless the newborn day, promising peace and tranquility.

The newborn day stands apart from its precedent, bringing about new bouts of laughter which spring from houses adorned with bright flowers, sunshine glinting off of the crystalline windows resting alongside the perfect walls.

The songbirds brought the hope of happiness within their gently sung melodies.

However, I no longer understand that concept.

Happiness.

For this reason, songbirds puzzled me.

Although they were only granted two years to carry out their lives, how could they send such beautiful messages of hope? Even when they could disappear so soon? Were they not being hypocritical in doing so?

I’ve found that I despise hypocrites.

I despise this world.

And I despise songbirds.

Yet, Cha Hakyeon was a songbird.
