All of them, with the exception of Tao, had known each other since they were young. They were considered nobility, and were often grouped together during classy events and parties, and a friendship quickly blossomed between them.
Kris and Suho had known each other for ages, as they were second cousins, in a way, and their lineage was something of envy by many in their galaxy. Both were descended from the Gods, separated only by one generation. Kris was the son of Upper Council members Hankyung, an intergalactic traveler who joined the Upper Council centuries ago, and Jessica, daughter of Earth Goddess BoA and Fire God Yunho themselves. Suho was also born to two Upper Council members, Shisus and Soo, son and daughter of Earth Goddess BoA and Water God Jaejoong.
Kris had always been a little colder than most, at least from first impression, but he still had a good heart and cared greatly for those closest to him, both as a child and now, as the Sun King. He often kept up a strict appearance, especially since he became King, both in public and private, but the others knew it was just for safety. Still, that woudn’t stop them from occasionally teasing him about it.
Baekhyun, who had initially planned to become a military officer, ended up becoming Suho’s Head Guard instead by accident. The reason was that, when Suho was 18, there was a mass attack at the castle which had gravely injured Xiumin, who had been Suho’s Head Guard at the time. Following the attack and Xiumin’s immediate retirement from the position, there was a unanimous agreement amoing the political circle that Baekhyun was best suited to take on the role, and the boy accepted it graciously. Since a young age, Baekhyun had always been a quite outstanding individual, gifted with adorable looks, great physical ability, and an uplifting and joking personality that cheered up all those around him.
Chanyeol, unlike Baekhyun, had fallen into his role as Head Advisor quite easily and straightforwardly. Though he was born in the Sun Kingdom, he and his family moved to the Moon Kingdom when he was barely a toddler. His hyperactive and happy personality won him many friends among noble’s children, and his great interest in politics and history quickly found him spots in the King’s court when he was 15. It wasn’t long until Suho was appointing him Head Advisor.
Baekhyun and Chanyeol were what you would call childhood friends, having known each other since near infanthood. Their story only developed into romance five years back, but now, the two couldn’t be happier.
“Minseok, would you like to call Jongdae, to let him know that you won’t be returning home tonight?” Suho asked once they all reached his quarters, and Xiumin smiled and nodded in thanks, as Suho handed off his Communication Mirror to the other boy.
Xiumin, or Minseok by real name, had been one of the first children of nobles that Suho had befriended, and had always been a sort of older brother to the Moon King, that sentiment continuing as he became the first Head Guard Suho ever had. He was more than committed to his job, so much so that he allowed himself to be injured gravely protecting Suho from an assassination attempt at on his 18th birthday, the day he was to be officially coronated as King. He took to the Sun Kingdom to settle down and relax as he recovered, taking on minor officer jobs around the planet to keep himself busy. Eventually, he decided to stay by Kris, becoming a court member. At first, he was only considered a lower member, but Kris continued to seek his counsel when his Head Advisor at the time constantly gave him foul advice, and eventually, Xiumin was promoted to Head Advisor.
Jongdae, or Chen by alias, was Xiumin’s lover, a simple music teacher back in the Sun Kingdom, and while it wasn’t anything glamorous, the boy was happy with it. Xiumin’s career gave them plenty of money to ensure they live comfortably, but Chen still enjoyed teaching, so he continued the job. Xiumin was supportive of his choices, so all was fine. Suho had even had the chance of meeting Chen before, and while the boy seemed a bit reserved, likely because of the difference in their statuses, Suho could tell he had a good spirit.
Tao rarely, if ever, appeared at social events, because of his constant training in martial arts, magic, and philosophy, as per his parent’s wishes, and because of his general dislike for social activities. He was more difficult to get close to, and it was only after he became Kris’s guard that their little group got to know him better. He was still quite tense around them all, even in the upmost privacy, partially due to his strict adherence to his job, partially due to the fact that he was the youngest of them all, and partially just due to his personality.
“Wahhhh, you really have the best bed, Joonmyeon!” Baekhyun exclaimed as he jumped on the bed once the door had been shut and locked, as well as sealed by Suho’s spell. Said man chuckled at his friend/Head Guard’s behavior.
“Ooh ooh, I wanna feel!” Chanyeol pitched in, running over and joining his lover on the soft mattress. They both started giggling as the bed practically them in.
“What are you guys, 12?” Kris said with an eye roll, before settling himself on a lounge chair near the windows in Suho’s room, Tao following close behind.
“You’re just no fun!” Chanyeol whined, with Baekhyun nodding next to him. Kris growled in annoyance.
“At least I follow my duties rather than letting court members run around like headless chickens out of panic and worry,” he shot back, and Chanyeol pouted.
“How’d you hear about that already?” he continued griping, before snapping his head to his lover. “Baekkie, you didn’t snitch, did you?!”
“What?!” Baekhyun yelled, looking affronted. “I’ve been with you the whole time, you idiot, you would’ve seen me if I did!”
“But then who—”
“It doesn’t matter who I heard it from,” Kris interrupted. “That was still irresponsible, Chanyeol!”
“Stop being such a killjoy!”
“I’m not—”
“You are!”
“Chanyeol—”
“Killjoy! Killjoy! Killjoy!”
“I swear—”
“Okay, okay,” Xiumin stopped them, having come back from the ensuite bath, where he finished his call to Chen. “Time to calm down; you’re all acting like children; yes, even you, Yi Fan.”
“I—”
“Hush,” Xiumin cut off the Sun King. “Now, let’s just relax and cat
