[6]
the sun's lullaby
story 6
To my beloved prince, there is a reason why I am not where you are, beside you. Even though that is where I'm supposed to be.
Our youth was bathed in glorious golden shades of passion and ardour that was hidden from our parents' eyes, amongst gardens of one hundred petaled roses, rosy skies and the sleeping sun. We couldn't have been more careless by wanting to be loved by each other. Perhaps our parents pretended to not know, even though they have silently agreed to marry us off. That was the purpose for us to be introduced since such a young age, after all.
When we were sixteen, your mother, our lovely Queen, couldn't have been more considerate to ask me of a red mark bruising my collarbone amidst our shared lunch, the scar that was left because you refused to let me go last night. You didn't budge a little while sitting across of me, but you gave me that look of longing, as if you'd die if I ever let go of you, because I know you'd never do.
Growing up doesn't just mean growing older, but it means a step closer to death and a step further away from you. But you always make sure to step closer to me.
"I'm gonna miss you."
"I'm only going for 3 years."
