“Attention!”  Lieutenant Kim shouted to a group of boys… and a girl that was standing beside of the rest of the group.  Who would expect a girl to enlist and wanted to become a soldier, serving in the war?  Most of the girls in her age would stay home and farm, or in some extent, signed up to be a nurse.  But surely as a woman, no one would like to be in the frontline and fight for her nation head on head.

Well, that’s different from Jeongyeon’s perspective.

“Yoo Jeongyeon, will join our platoon now.”  Lieutenant Kim said to the others, “She is a special one but there will be no bias allowed in the army, so I expect everyone to treat her equally.”

“Bull crap,”  Jeongyeon thought, “Saying that is just going to make more people pick on me.”

“10 laps around the base.  Go.”  Lieutenant Kim simply said and all of them, including Jeongyeon answered, “Yes, Sir!”

As expected, Jeongyeon was being picked on.  All day.  The word of a woman joined the army was already been widespread across the whole base.  Some visited her just by curiosity but some weren’t.

Jeongyeon grunted when someone shoved her onto the lockers.  “Tell me, why are you here?”  That person asked her.  Jeongyeon had a glance of the nametag of the guy, Im.  “I have the right to not answer your question.”
