Sleeping Beauty and the Not-So Charming Prince

Mijoo in Fairytale Land

Jisoo stared at the guy who stood in front of her as her heavy breathing slowed down. But not the racing of her pounding heart.

He was handsome in a hidden way. Not like the princes who she'd often hear of or the townsmen who'd come down to the palace to try to propose to her.

This guy had small eyes that many girls would find unappealing. But they were sharp and seemed to stare right at her. And he was short, but very well proportioned. His face was oily and seemed dirty, in contrast to her clean and clear perfect skin. But it worked on him

"Princess Seo Jisoo?" Slipped out of his mouth and she knew it was unintentional by the way he bit his bottom lip.

Sudden rustling of leaves and bushes made them both snap out of their thoughts and turn the same direction.

"Kihyun? Jisoo?" Woohyun asked as he walked out into the clearing. "What are you two doing out here?"

Jisoo glanced over at Kihyun who did the same.

His name is Kihyun.

Woohyun and Princess Jisoo know each other?"

Woohyun watched their heavy panting and sweat trickling down their foreheads. His eyes dropped down to Kihyun's sword that everyone in every land could recognize from miles away, and then the sword in Jisoo's hand. His eyes widened and a gasp escaped his lips as his hand went up to his mouth.

"Did Jisoo beat the almighty Kihyun?!"

Kihyun's eyes darted at Woohyun and he quickly walled over to his sword and bent down to pick it up. He slid it back into its place as he walked back to his horse. "She did not defeat me," Kihyun said through gritted teeth.

"So this is the cave?" YooA asked as she stared at the giant entrance to the cave in front of her.

Ten rolled his eyes and answered with very much sarcasm, "No, obviously it's a pretty pink castle."

"You don't have to be so rude. It's just, well, I didn't expect such a big and dark place. And the fact that that thing you're carrying opened this place up is a bit. . . Scary."

"Hate to break it to you Princess, but that's how a lot of caves are," Ten answered before he started walking inside, "Not the being opened up by this thing part, but big and dark."

Truth be told, as much as he tried to seem brave in front of YooA, he was trembling with fear. In fact, never in his life had Ten met someone who was more of a scaredy-cat than he was.

But now was not the time to seem like a baby.

YooA who still stood outside the cave watched how Ten walked inside bravely, and as scared as she was to go in, she was more scared to be alone in the forbidden forest.

"Wait for me," She called out as she quickly ran to his side and stood closely.

Ten and YooA walked in without saying much. The place was dark, moist, and filled with the smell of wet. It scared them both, but they wouldn't dare say. The only thing giving them light was a torch that Ten held tightly in his hand.

"What exactly are we looking for again?" YooA asked as she looked around, but saw nothing but the darkness of the cave.

"A lamp."

"A lamp?"

"Yeah."

YooA couldn't help but feel like she'd been tricked into going along. But it was her own fault for insisting so much when Ten told her otherwise.

"I don't see anythi-"

Before YooA could finish talking she felt something weird under her feet, like crumbling. Like the edge of a cliff that was about to come crumbling down. And just as she gasped and tried to back away, Ten fell down the edge they hadn't been able to see and the floor crumbled under her feet and she also went down after him.

The silent cave was filled with their screams as they fell down, thinking it was their end. But suddenly they felt something underneath them and they were sliding and rolling down something, feelings bumps underneath them.

"Oh my gosh we're not dead!" YooA said once they reached the end, all the way at the bottom of the cave. She felt herself all around, trying to make sure she was full and complete and fully alive.

"I thought it was the end," Ten said as he clutched on to his chest where he could feel the rapid beating of his heart.

"It wasn't a straight fall," YooA said as she looked up to the cliff and saw how they fell as if rolling down a hill.

The White Rabbit, Jangjun, looked down from the edge at YooA and Ten. "The things I have to do in this job," he sighed before he stepped forward and immediately rolled down like YooA and Ten.

Ten looked around in the dark as he listened to YooA's loud echos. He shifted up and even the slightest sounds made a loud echo. "Are you okay?" He asked as he turned to YooA who was sitting up.

"Yeah," She answered and took the hand he offered to stan up. "I wouldn't think you'd care."

"Well, if something happened to the princess under my watch do you know how much I'd be worth on those wanted posters? Probably more than Kihyun and Yein."

YooA scoffed and rolled her eyes, but remained with a slightly smile on her face.

"So what now?" She asked as she looked around. Her eye caught sight of something shiny and she took the torch from Ten's hand.

Before he could say anything, she placed the torch near the shiny object so it could touch the fire, and suddenly, it lit up, lighting up the one next to it, and the one next to it, and so on in a long row until the whole cave was illuminated.

"Whoa," Ten let out as his eyes landed on all the shinning gold in front of the two. This is what he was here for. "How'd you know to do that?"

"We have it at the palace," YooA answered as she started walking through the piles of gold.

Ten followed behind her as he scanned the place in awe. It was like never before seen, something he'd never imagine. All that gold and silver and more in front of him, and nothing stopping him from taking it. Except YooA.

"Let's quickly get that magic lamp and find a way out," YooA said as she kept walking through the small and large piles of gold and silver and more. "And don't touch anything else."

Ten pouted as he looked around, so desperately wanting to hold the various treasures. But he knew better. He knew, even though that guy had told him he could get whatever he wanted, it wasn't right. It was morally wrong. Which left him wondering why he had agreed to do this job.

Maybe he had just gotten ahead of himself. Or maybe being with YooA all that time made him realize he couldn't take the treasures of the cave.

The two walked in silence as they looked around the whole place. Eventually they lost each other among the gain't piles and were split up.

Until Ten heard YooA let out a loud gasp and he ran to find her. "What's wrong?! What happened?!" He called out as he found her and ran to her side.

"Look at this cute carpet!" She exclaimed as she bent down.

Ten furrowed his eyebrows and held a lost expression as he wondered if he really heard what he heard. He looked down and saw YooA bending down in front of a carpet.

"Seriously?" He questioned.

"Look! It's alive!" She exclaimed as she pulled him to bend down next to him.

They both looked at the motionless carpet and he turned to her to ask, "Princess YooA. It's doing nothing."

"It was moving, I swear!" She exclaimed as she pointed back at it. He looked at her and got ready to say something else, when she gasped again and he looked over at the carpet, to find it moving around.

"Whoa," Ten let out as he watched the carpet stand on it's two bottom corners as if they were it's legs.

"I told you!" YooA said as she gave his shoulder a slight push. "Hello! I'm Princess YooA, also known as Siah, and this is Ten," She told the purple and gold carpet as she waved at it.

"YooA, I don't think it can underst-'

The carpet bowed to YooA and she let out a slight giggle, before it glanced at Ten, and then looked back at YooA. As if it didn't like him and prefered YooA.

"Huh." Ten's tongue ran around the inside of his mouth as he stared at the magic carpet, wondering where he went wrong.

"Do you know where we can find a magic lamp?" YooA asked and the carpet shakes the top of itself as if nodding it's head. It signaled to a place deeper into the cave, and started heading over to it.

"Let's follow it," YooA said as she stood up and turned to Ten. He gave her an unsure look, still not knowing how to feel about everything, but couldn't protest, seeing how she had already gone on her own.

"What have I gotten myself into?"

"Keojineun heart b-b-beat it ppallajineunde-"

Mijoo sang Red Velvet's Russian Roulette to herself as she kept walking around the forbidden forest by herself. Her eyes looked around, scanning the place as she recited the lyrics to her favorite song back in her universe.

Her universe.

It was so weird to think of it.

Not even a week ago, she'd had her first day at her new school, had a terrible day, and then walked through her forest before ending up here. It was crazy weird. Unimaginable.

Like she had fallen into her fairytale book, except a more intense and twisted version of it. She had met Robbin Hood, Little Red Riding Hood, Aladdin and Princess Jasmine, Jack from Jack and the Beanstalk, Goldie Locks, Robbin Hood's friend Little John, and now there was a burning question left.

What was that creature that had attacked her earlier? Different fairytales ran through Mijoo's head as she tried to come up with a beastly character.

"Beauty and the Beast!" She exclaimed as it finally hit her. "Wait, then who is belle?"

Mijoo had been too caught up in her thoughts, she hadn't noticed herself walk out of the forbidden forest. But when she did, she was lost once again.

"Where the hell am I now?!" She whined as she stomped on her foot. "Okay, this isn't the forbidden forest, but it's still a forest. So. . . where is this?"

Mijoo looked around and scanned the place carefully. As if she would be able to recognize a place she'd never been to.

"Maybe if I can find myself a character like Belle then she'd be kind enough to lead me to- where am I even trying to get to?"

Crunching leafs startled Mijoo and she quickly ran into the bushes and scanned the area. She wasn't letting anyone sneak up on her.

A sudden feminine voice singing made her head perk up and ahead looked around, trying to find out where it was coming from. That's a beautiful voice.

A girl suddenly appeared from behind the various bushes filled with flowers of all typed and Mijoo felt herself staring.

The girl sang while picking various different plants and placing them into her basket that she held in an arm. Many little animals like birds, rabbits, and squirrels and more followed behind her as she continued picking plants and singing.

Princess Aurora? Mijoo though to herself as she watched the girl with the bangs and pretty eye smile. Her dress was nothing fancy, and resembled much to something Yein or YooA would wear while using their swords.

She must not be a wealthy town girl.

"Sejeong, why do you seem extra happy today?" A little rabbit asked and Mijoo had to double check to make sure she wasn't going crazy, because a rabbit talking?? But then again she was in some sort of fairytale world and a talking rabbit wouldn't be the most surprising thing so far.

"Did you not know? I'm turning twenty-one soon," She answered happily.

Oh my gosh girl, no! Don't touch any spinning wheel! You'll die! Wait, didn't Princess Aurora turn 16? Wait, she didn't die though. She just... slept. Sleeping sounds pretty good, actually. I haven't slept for a while... seriously, when was the last time I slept?

Mijoo snapped out of her thoughts when she heard snapping twigs and rustling tree branches and bushes. She looked over at Sejeong who was still caught up singing to herself and then looked over to where the noise was coming from.

"Is it who I think it is?" Mijoo mumbled as she waited anxiously to see who would appear. "What was his name? Prince Philli-"

"Is somebody there?" A voice asked as the person came out and Mijoo couldn't help but let her jaw drop as she stared at the guy in awe.

This prince is HOT!

Sejeong, who heard the guy's voice, quickly spun around and saw the guy standing there.

A sharp jawline, twinkling bright brown eyes, perfect lips, damn is Sejeong lucky.

"Who are you?" Sejeong asked as she took a step back.

The guy who looked at Sejeong couldn't help but let out a scoff and tilt his head as he raised an eyebrow. "Are you serious right now?"

"I don't think I would've asked if I wasn't," Sejeong answered back with a straight face.

"I am Prince Taeyong," The guy answered. "From the Northwest kingdom."

Sejeong only blinked at the guy, as if not understanding him. "Prince? Oh."

"Oh? You are in the presence of a great prince and that is all you can say?" Taeyong asked in disbelief.

"Well how should I react then?"

"I don't know. Like all the other girls I guess," He answered, but Sejeong had already gone back to picing various different plants.

"And how exactly do they react?" Sejeong asked with disinterest. She didn't even glance at him.

"They scream and faint and fall for my handsome looks, of course," he answered as he followed to her side.

"Well, Prince Taeyong," Sejeong said as she turned around to face him. "I'm not like those girls," She answered before turning around and walking away.

Burn! Mijoo though to herself as she watched the scene unfold before her.

Taeyong could only stare at Sejeong in disbleief before he quickly went after her and called out, "Are you serious? You know, you don't have to be shy. Admit, you've fallen for my looks."

"If I did I'd be lying," Sejeong answered as she didn't bother stopping or looking at him. Instead, she headed over to a pond where she found many other various plants to pick out.

"You're lying. A mere peasant like yourself wouldn't be able to resist someone like myself," Taeyong fought back as he kept following her.

"Did you just call me a peasant?" Sejeong scoffed as she stood straight and turned to face him.

"Obviously. I mean, have you seen your choice in clothing?" He asked as he looked down at her gray dress.

"You sure are full of yourself, huh?" Sejeong asked as placed a hand on her hip and titled her head.

Those two are so falling in love later on. Mijoo thought as she let out a dreamy sigh and rested her cheek on her palm. She leaned forward a bit while staring at the bickering two, but ended up losing her balance and fell forward, making loud thumping and rustling noises.

"Oh no," Taeyong said as both he and Sejeong turned to see what made the noises. "It must be the royal guards. They must have noticed I escaped. Quick hide me!" He panicked as he turned to a confused Sejeong.

"What?" She asked.

Taeyong grabbed Sejeong's arm and tried to push her forward, as if trying to hide behind her but she was stubborn.

"Are you dumb? Let go off of me!" She yelled as she tried to get him off of her. "They're going to find you and take you away!"

"They can't do that! Just help me out here and then I'll even let you kiss me!"

"You're so full of yourself!"

"No I'm not!"

And in the midst of all their fighting, the two somehow managed to fall back into the pond with a loud splash!

"You're such an idiot!" She yelled as sat up in the pond, drenched in water.

Taeyong did the same and let out a loud frustrated groan as he ruffled his hair. "You've got to be kidding me! This is all your fault!"

"Says the one who got us here in the first place!"

"If you had helped me hide we wouldn't have had this problem!"

"I never want to see you again!"

"Same goes for me! If I ever see you again it'll be too soon!"

"Feeling's mutual!"

Mijoo who stood in front of the two after falling out from the bushes, free for their sight, shook her head and let out a sigh. They haven't even noticed me here. Yeah. Those two are SO falling for each other.

"Who is she?" Kihyun asked Sunggyu sternly before he glanced back into the living room where Jisoo sat, talking to Sungjong.

"Could you keep your voice down?" Hoya asked with an irritated tone as he sat at the kitchen table with his eyes closed and arms crossed, showing his buff arms.

"I just want to know why you guys have a princess sitting in your living room," Kihyun said through gritted teeth as he slammed his fist down on the table.

"Please, Kihyun, calm down. She's not any princess," Woohyun said as he set down a cup of milk in front of Kihyun.

"You're right," Kihyun said as he leaned back on the chair. "She's not any princess. She's Princess Seo Jisoo. The step-daughter of the evil queen."

Sunggyu rolled his eyes as he leaned back on his seat, knowing a long lecture was coming. Hoya only raised one of his perfect shapped eyebrows.

"Princess Seo Jisoo, out of all the royals, is the one we should watch out for most. Whether her step-mother hates her like the rumours say, the Evil queen could do so much bad to us if she found out we had her. She'd kill for her blood. And if she actually liked Princess Seo Jisoo, it's just as bad."

"Look, Kihyun," Dongwoo said as he suddenly appeared into the kitchen and sat down at the table, "We have thought it out, and, we have come to the conclusion that having a royal in our team would be best."

"Our team?" Kihyun asked as he raised an eyebrow.

"Stop the act, we know even if we've never officially been part of the rebellion, we've always had some sort of agreement," Sungyeol, the usual happy and aloof one, snapped after staying quiet the whole time, leaning agaisnt the wall.

"Kihyun," Sunggyu said as he sat up on his seat and placed his hands on the table. "Look at her, and tell me she's not charming."

Kihyun glanced over at Jisoo, who just so happened to laugh at something Sungjong said at that moment. Her hand clapped onto , covering her pearly white teeth, as her big round eyes turned into cresent slits and they sparkled through the reflection of the crackling fire.

There was a slight moment where she felt someone staring at her and glanced over to see Kihyun staring right at her, cutting her laugh short.

Kihyun turned back to Sunggyu, waiting to hear his explanation.

"You can't do it can you?" Sunggyu asked with a slight smirk.

Kihyun cleared his throat and snapped, "So what's your point?"

"Imagine, a princess as beautiful and charming as that, convincing the people to join our rebellion. It makes sense, huh? If people can see we have someone like her on our team, they'll join in right away."

"I See Sunggyu's point," The White Rabbit mumbled as he nodded in agreement.

Kihyun slowly nodded as he ran the idea through his head. The thought of having possibly the most dangerous princess on the rebllion team suddenly seemed more pleasing than before.

"And she's a pretty good fighter, huh?" Hoya asked as he rolled his sleeve up to reveal a big purple bruise on his arm. "Learned that the hard way when we first met her."

"Okay," Kihyun was convinced, "but we don't tell her."

"We don't tell?" Myungsoo who had stayed the quiet asked as he raised an eyebrow. "About the rebllion? Why?"

"She wouldn't do it," Kihyun answered simply as he stood up.

"I think she'd understand that we're trying to get better treatment from the kingdoms and we need her help," Woohyun argued as he stood up too, along with the others who were also agaisnt the idea.

But Kihyun had bigger plans. He didn't want to use Jisoo like that. He wanted to use her to defeat the evil queen and gain power over the kingdom. But these seven fools wouldn't understand.

"I'll see you guys next time. I only came to ask you guys for help with finding people to join the rebllion, but you've done enough," Kihyun said as he grabbed his cloak and put it on.

"Wait, we have thought of something," Sunggyu suddenly stopped Kihyun before he could walk out.

"Yeah, what?

"Take her with you."

"What?!"

 ~~

"But where am I going to?" Jisoo asked as her grip on Sungjong's hands tightened, showing how anxious she was to leave the safety of their cabin.

"We're sorry to say goodbye Jisoo," Woohyun said sincerely. "We truly enjoyed your bright presence, but Kihyun can take better care of you."

"I can take care of myself," Jisoo scoffed. "And I don't even know him."

"He's a great person," Sunggyu stated, although he was also unsure about the decision and held a grim expression. "You'll get to see that. If we can trust him, so can you."

Jisoo nodded, knowing she could trust Sunggyu's words. He may be lazy, and it seemed like her relied on the other guys a little too much, but she knew he was very wise and knew what he was saying. He was very leader-like.

Slowly, Jisoo let go of Sungjong's hands and he gave her a smile that let her know she'd be all right. "But," Jisoo said as she glanced over at Kihyun who got his horse ready, "Who exactly is he?"

"Kihyun?" Hoya asked and they all looked as if debating on what to tell her. "He's... someone who all the good people look up to."

"Someone who never loses a fight," Myungsoo added.

"Someone who should be a friend rather than foe," Sunggyu finished with a stern voice, that Jisoo wasn't so sure what to make of. Maybe it was a warning hidden under advice. But she wouldn't think much of it until later on.

"Hmmm," The White Rabbit hummed, "If it weren't for the fact that many scenes are unwritten, I'd read ahead to know what will happen."

"Are you ready?" Kihyun asked as he walked over to Jisoo and the seven guys.

Jisoo nodded, but did not speak a word. Instead, she retrieved her sword from Woohyun and slid it into place at her side.

Kihyun looked at it, and a flash of alertness appeared on his face before he furrowed his eyebrows and looked back up at Jisoo. "Let's go," He said before he turned around and started walking of to his horse.

Jisoo bid her last farewells and headed of behind Kihyun to his horse.

"Okay, Princess Seo," Kihyun said as he turned to face Jisoo, "The horse is ready."

"Plase, you can call me Jisoo. I never really felt the Princess title anyways."

Kihyun stared at Jisoo as her words ran through his mind. He didn't understand. She spoke like a princess and had the aura of one, but her words and actions so far were sending him mixed signals.

"Well, Jisoo, would you like to be in front of me on the horse, and behind me. Heads up, if you're in front I have to put my arms around you, and if you end up behind me, your arms go behind me."

"Where are we headed?"

"Somewhere. So which one do you choose?"

Remember, Jisoo, Sunggyu said you could trust this guy. If he won't give you an answer it's probably with reason.

"I'll ride on the back," Jisoo said.

"Good choice."

Kihyun climbed on the horse and helped Jisoo on. "Hold on tight Princess, it's going to be a long ride."

~~

"Is that it?" YooA asked with a slight gasp as her eyes landed on a shining, gold lamp in the middle of the cave. "It's so beautiful," She said as she watched the magic lamp sparkle under the light that somehow only managed to hit that lamp.

"So what do we do now?" YooA asked as she turned to face Ten, only to find him grabbing a bag of jewls. "Are you serious?" She asked in disbelief. "Put that back."

"Look, if I have risked my life this much, then I think I deserve at least this," He replied as he stuffed the bad of jewls into his pocket.

"Ten, I don't think that's a very goo-"

A low, grumbling sound echoing through the cave suddenly made the two and the magic carpet spin around and looked all over the place. The grumbling grew louder and YooA backed up until she bumped into the as her eyes scanned the area, trying to find what that sound was, until it suddenly stopped.

Her beating heart quicken by the second and her rapid breathing wouldn't stop as she tried to stay still. "T-ten," She said in a low voice as she still scanned the place, not daring to move a but. "Put. Them. Back."

Ten, who grew just as scared as she did, quickly nodded and dug through his pocket for the bag of jewls, but the sudden grumbling and shaking of the ground under his feet let him know it was too late.

"Run!" He yelled at YooA as rocks and dirt started falling down around. Although there was nowhere to really run to.

"Where?! The entrance is up there!"

Ten looked around in panic as he felt the fear rising in him. Breathe. Calm. Breathe. Relax. Breathe.

Instincts kicked in and Ten suddenly grabbed YooA's hand and reached for the magic lamped. He picked it up and didn't stop running as he pulled YooA along with him, avoiding falling rocks and the breaking and splitting of the ground beneath them.

"We can't get up there!" YooA said as she looked up at the entrance they had fallen from.

Suddenly the magic carpet flew to them and signaled them to do something.

"Wait," YooA said as he pulled on Ten's hand and stopped him from running elsewhere. "I think it's telling us to get on."

"What?!" Ten asked baffled as he looked around him and then at the carpet and then at the entrance and then back at the carpet. "Damn it this is not my day!" And the two quickly climbed on.

The magic carpet sped up and flew up to the entrance, as Ten quickly held on to the edge of the carpet and YooA held tightly on to him. "Where to now?!" YooA asked Ten as she turned to look at him.

"I know a couple of kids who can get us to main kingdom of Prince Jaehwan."

The White Rabbit watched Ten and YooA ride away on the carpet as he sighed. "Why does this always happen to me?" He mumbled bitterly as he tapped his foot on the floor, and a sudden hole appeared. "Here we go," He said before he jumped in.
