The heart of a monster - teaser
The Randoms
The place is like a haunted cave.. well, it's a huge mansion, maybe can be called as a palace, but the air around it is so cold.. like making goosebumps. There's no trace of life in there, so dark and gloomy. The high rock walls make it worse. Those trees maybe stang strong cause it's been there for years, their roots have been so deep into the ground to find their water source. The bushes are dried, dead. No sign of any care..
Wait, why is he here again?
He stares up at the huge gate separating the wood and the place where he'd live in. He's not so sure anymore, but at least he'll stay for the night. It's too dangerous to wonder out in the dark. He's dead tired and cannot run any further. A number of men have been chasing him, a loner like him can be sold as a slave, after crossing the shallow river and entering the wood miraculously they stop chasing him. Is it maybe because it's a dangerous area? Well at least he won't be eaten by wild animal in that place. Right?
He pushes the gate, it's so heavy bit it's not locked. So he enters and closes it back behind him. It's surprising that the distance between the gate and the building is quite far. It takes a few minutes to reach the door, a hige one and looks really intimidating. He pushes a little to check, but then he heard a crack sound and the door is opened.
It takes a few second for him to get used to the darkness inside ad finally able to see what's inside. It's not that dusty when he touches one of the furniture nearby, and it's so strong and sturdy, a well-made one from the best wood. It's a huge table in the middle of a high ceiling room with an equal size of candelier and there's nothing more.. at least in that room. He looks around tofind a set of stairs leading to the next floor, but there're also two doors on the left and right.. oh is it also one behind the stairs?
But eho lived here before? Wait.. what if there's still someone living here?
For a few minutes he just stands there waiting for anything, any signs of presence.. but then it's none, and it's too tiring to stand like that any longer, so he reaches the door, the one on the right. He moves closer slowly, carefully with his guard on, and when he tries to open it.. it does open easily. He is welcomed by another darkness and the smell of dampness. When he sees better, he finds nothing. The room is practically empty. The stone floor is so cold it's impossible for him to sleep there. So he leaves to check the other doos, the one across. And the result is the same. So there're two options left. It's either going upstairs or checking the door behind it. Both seem to be scary but he has no choice but to check it. The floor is too cold, and the table is too exposed..
Feeling that going upstairs is more scary, he chooses the door behind it. When he opens it though, it leads him to a black long corridor and he cannot see the end of it. With no sunlight now, he is too scared to go there so reluctantly he goes upstairs, taking one step to another warily.
Once he is on the second floor, he sees lines of doors. He can see at least four of them. It seems like this place is way bigget then how he saw it earlier. All the doors look old and heavy. And he just goes to the nearest one. Once ge opens it, he's presented by lines of racks and shelves of books. They're tall almost reaching the roof that's so high itself. He sees the fireplace and a big chair by it, in
