Three words

The words on the receipt

“We’ve arrived at our destination, and by the time we finish there’s still be time to go where you want to go.”

Seohyun smiled “But we’re just eating here right?”

“Just, do you want to do something else?” I teased not looking at her acting shy.

“Ya! Let’s just go eat!”

The restaurant was traditional, fancy and old fashion.  I’d reserve a private room, so we could talk, but now I didn’t quite know what to talk about.  We took our shoes off and then sat.  The table that was a low one that had more space under it for your legs.

“Thank you!” Seohyun said as she sat down.

I nodded.  “Order for me.”

“Me, hum, ok.”

I hadn’t expected that, but oh well.  My poor stomach, we’ll endure it.  Seohyun’s taste though is…very healthy.

“We’ll take the kimchi, eels, lobster, and Korean beef.” Seohyun said looking at me instead of at the waiter, which I appreciated.

Along with the all the food that we ordered came the side dishes and a rose.

“Awh?  A coral color.  Hey are some of these painted roses?”
I shrugged my shoulders, “Here, cherry tomato.” I said holding it out on my fork.

“The food was great!” Seohyun said adding the coral rose to her bouquet.  “Now there’s seven.” She looked at me expectantly.

“What?”

She shrugged, “Are those all the roses?”

“Close your eyes” I said taking out another rose, “You can open them now.”

“What color is this?  White?”

“I know it looks white, but it’s supposed to be cream,” I said trying to explain.

“Hey, hey, it’s ok!” She laughed looking out the window.

“Namsan tower!” Seohyun yelled once we arrived.  “Come on, quickly!”

“Isn’t this a date, why are you running off without me?” I said to myself when I noticed how far she was.  “Hey, wait for me!”

When I caught up Seohyun was looking depressed.  “I’m sorry oppa, I guess someone reserved the restaurant.  Ugh, what a jerk!”

“Seohyun it’s fin-” I was saying taking notice of her calling me oppa.

“No, no it is definitely not fine.  I wanted to do something for you and now…” she had her hands on her head.  “I’m so sorry today was great and now my part is…Ugh!”

I put my hands on her shoulders and then looked at her eyes.  “Seohyun, I am not a jerk, now come on!”

“Reservation Luhan,” I said to the host.

“Ugh!  Luhan, no you can’t do this, this was my turn!”  Seohyun said walking quickly behind me.

“How are you able to walk so fast in those shoes?”  I asked trying to change the subject.

Seohyun was still pouting and her eyes were sparkling.

“Hey, hey.  Yoona and some of your other close friends told me you prepared something, everything is here,” I said taking out a blind fold.  “I just wanted it to be us two alone.”

“I’ll pay you later.” Seohyun said.

I wiped her eyes and kissed her nose, “Who nose?”

“Haha, I’m serious!” she said putting the blind fold for me.

She surprised me with two locks at the “Padlocks of love railing.”

The locks were the standard red heart padlocks.  “What are you going to write?”

“I’m not telling you!” Seohyun said cutely and defensively.

“Then, don’t look at mine either,” I said turning away.

I had thought she was kidding about not letting each other see what the other had wrote, but she wasn’t.

Again she blindfolded me.  When she took it off we were seated by the window, out looking the Han River.

“Here,” I said.

“Another?” Seohyun smiled, “I thought that the cream one would be last one.  Is this salmon color?”

“Um… girls must really be able to see more colors,” I said making her laugh “But yes.”

“How many is that, now?” I asked.

“Nine, I think.”  She said smiling, “but you know I haven’t yet received my favorite one.”

We didn’t eat much, but I didn’t care. We had the restaurant for three hours.  So after eating we just talked.

“Ooh, one more thing.” Seohyun said. Blindfolding me and then probably running off.

“I’m back, I’m back, don’t take it off.” I heard her say.

“I’m not,” I couldn’t help but smile.

“Ok,” she said and took off my blindfold, but I didn’t see anything different.  “So, I just paid for dinner, and now it’s time for the surprise.”

“You didn’t ha-” I was about to say.

“I wanted to.”

“Hey, come on,” she said taking me to the other side of the room this time covering my eyes with her hands.  “Open.”

I opened my eyes, and in the room there were hearts, pink and red all over.  In the middle though there were picture of us throughout the whole day on the windows and a board with the receipts from the café.

I looked at her.  I was surprise to see her tearing up.  “Hey, Seohyun, Seo Joohyun.”

“This has all happened so fast, and I just want to cherish this moment.”

She had her hands covering her face, “I’m sorry I took so long, but I love you.  You know that right?”

She nodded quietly, “I’m sorry too.”

I shook my head, “No, don’t be. I'm really thankful you know?” I said hugging her closely patting her back.

I pulled away lifter up her face, “Smile for me?”

She smiled.  “You too, I appreciate it, so much, you know.”

I took out a necklace I had prepared earlier.  “It really isn’t much at all, so please accept this gift.”  I said. “Seohyun would you be my girlfriend?”

“Ah-ha.” She said just calming down.

“Now before you start hyperventilating, let me put it on you.”

“Just put it on!” she whined taking the red rose I held in front of her.

“The stuff?” I said wondering if we were just to leave it.

“The decorations are from the restaurant, the board and pictures, we should probably…”

“Ok, let’s start taking them off, the board, we can just put that in the trunk of the car.”

So there we were taking pictures of the windows and standing on chairs in order to reach the one higher up.

I decided to make this a bit more interesting.  “Hey, Seo, get on my shoulders.”

“Huh?” She asked looking at me as if I was crazy.

“Get on my shoulders.”

“No!  Are you crazy?”

“I can’t even carry my own girlfriend, do you think I’m too weak?”

“That’s not going to work,” She said turning back to the window.

“Would you?”

“Luhan, I’m wearing a dress!” she said this time more softly.

Luhan just shrugged and continued on.

“Are you sure you don’t want me to carry anything?” she asked.

“You are carrying something, the roses I gave you,” I said carrying the pictures in a bag with the left hand and the board with the others.

We got to the car and put the things in the trunk.  “Wait don’t get in.” Seohyun said.  “Picture.”

“Oh yeah, did you hire someone to take pictures of us?”

Seohyun nodded, “Smile!”

When we arrived at her dorm she look at me wanting to say something.

“I really look forward to our relationship.  And I really, truly like you,” she said with a shaky voice.  I understood, saying I love you was still something new even if we both felt it.

I smiled, “I’ll walk you to the door.”

“Thank you once again.” Seohyun said looking at me.

“Oh, wait.” I said noticing she was already leaving.  “One last rose.”

“White, my favorite.”  She said admiring her roses.  “I love them, thank you.”

“Miss Seo, you don’t know much about flower language, but that’s fine.” I said taking her hand.  “I’ll just say it out loud for you to understand.”  I took a deep breath and smiled.

“Miss Seo, I’m serious about you, and those roses represent my feelings towards you, but I still feel so much more, so I’ll tell you again.  I love you.  And because I understand, I love you too.”

I didn’t know what to do or say next, but I really wanted to kiss her.  While thinking this time was slipping away, and I was beginning to hesitate.  I wasn’t as smooth as I thought.  I guess Seohyun grew impatient too because she went up and kissed me catching me off guard.

“See you tomorrow?”

I nodded, probably with a smile that reached my ears.  I couldn’t help but be cheesy and send her a heart with my hands.

It was late when I laid down, remembering the occurrences of the day.  Everything hadn’t been perfect, everything hadn’t gone as plan, yet I was immensely happy.

I looked at the picture Seohyun had sent me right after I’d drove off.  It was a picture of the receipt from the restaurant with the price blurred, but the message was simple and clear “Luhan <3”.

I spent that night unable to fall asleep.  For the first time I felt what others meant when they said that their heart were full of love.  And my heart was full of love for Seohyun.  I wanted call her, message her, just relish our happiness.  I don’t know when I woke up, but I felt it.  I felt the change in me, and in the world.  It was still too early, but I was high on love and hyper just thinking of Seohyun.

A couple of hours after I had calmed down, I was just pacing around in my room wondering if this is how others feel, wondering if Seohyun feels like I do.

Tomorrow would be a new day, a new start.
