Smile for meThe Bridal Chorus by Richard Wagner was playing in the background as the bridesmaids were walking down the aisle. One of my aunt’s friends’ daughter dropped rose petals on the way to the south transept where we were asked to go.
You probably think that this was so romantic and sentimental but the only thing I could feel was regret and agony. Walking by hundreds of familiar or unknown faces was more than terrifying. My high heels felt even more uncomfortable as I was walking on the red carpet and the flashlights were seriously annoying. But this was the XXIth century, not a traditional wedding. Everyone was holding up their cell phones to take pictures of the cute bridesmaids and one of the guests almost slapped me with their selfie stick. Congratulations, redhead, you almost killed a bridesmaid!
Small wonder why my nerves were already frazzled by the time I walked up to my place and my nervousness rose higher as I slipped on a stair. Luckily, I immediately felt strong hands grapping me by the waist, so I couldn’t fell to the ground. I literally froze when I turned around to see my saviour, only to find out that it was Mr. Innocent – aka Jonghyun or whatever was his name. His eyes widened, so did mine. He gulped and so did I. My heart rushed dull and my embarrassment was ineffable. I squealed inside.

I glared at him but he even laughed harder. He was obviously having the best time of his life. Luckily, since the orchestra was playing so loud that my granny would probably suffer from hearing loss before the ceremony ends, my cousin’s reaction couldn’t be noticed. Still, I kicked his right leg to shut him up and not just he stopped giggling but he almost dropped the rings which he was holding. See, that’s what you get when you want Kim Taehyung to be your ring bearer.
As my aunt finally walked down the aisle, the wedding ceremony began. I couldn’t forget about the fact that Mr. Innocent was beside the bridesmaids the whole time since he could only take good pictures of the whole interior if he was around the south transept. Yet, I couldn’t shake off the lingering feeling that I started to develop towards this particular guy. I stole glances as he was capturing moments and found myself actually staring at him. The way he bit his lower lip when he pressed the shutter button and when his eyes were searching for the right angles – or whatever he might have been looking for – was so inspiring. I mean, he worked so diligently, his moves were precise and solemn.
“Do you like what you see?” my cousin cooed in my ears and his face slowly dissolved into a teasing grin. Gosh, was I that obvious? I wished I could evaporate right then and there. It was m
