When nightfall approached, her mother dutifully locked the bedroom door, just as her father had promised. There was little chance of escaping by either the door or the windows, no matter how cunning she was, or how hard she fought. And so she tried to dig. She got down on her knees and began pulling up the loose boards beneath her feet. She dug until her nails were raw and bleeding, but she could make no real progress at all.

She fell on her small bed and began to cry, and with her fists clenched tightly and her head buried in her pillow, she began to dream. 

The familiar voice sounded more desperate than ever before. 

"My love, where are you? I cannot find you!"

She cried out to him.

"I am here, my love. I am trapped here and I can hardly feel you."

"I will find you. I am coming for you, my love. I am coming soon."

When she awoke, night had fallen and she could feel that he was close, and coming closer. 

The shuttered windows offered little resistance as he began easily pulling off the boards that lay between he and the woman he had been dreaming about. She could hear his voice calling to her and found himself wandering closer to her with every passing day. 

Unlike the man she had envisioned, she saw before her a large wolf, and it was walking on two legs.

"At last, I have found you," it said and lept into her room.

"You are not the man I was expecting."

The wolf laughed.
