Chapter 1
BrokenHana opened one eye, groaning at the light coming through her window. She tried to lay in her bed for a bit longer, hoping to maybe get some more sleep, but to no avail. She cursed herself for being such a light sleeper. Reaching over her nightstand, she checked the time, 6.30. Too early. Suddenly, she checked back at the date.
Today was the day. It had been a year. A year since her mum had left her and her dad.
Hana tiptoed into her house, as she heard the loud shouts from her parents inside.
"Why are you doing this, huh?" She heard her dad growl, something that sent shivers down her own spine.
"I-i can't deal with it anymore! It's too much to bare!" Her mum cried. Hana was confused as to what she was talking about, but had a weird feeling in her gut. She stood to take a glass of water, when her mum burst through the door, suitcase in her hand, tears running down her cheek.
The sight of Hana made her cry harder, as she grabbed the girl into a tight hug.
Hana was completely shocked. She had no idea what the hell was going on. "Wait, mum. What's with the suitcase? W-where are you going?" Her voice trembled, as she desperately wished it wasn't what she thought.
"H-hana," her mum's voice croaked. "One day, you will find out, and I just want to let you know that the guilt has been killing me. I know you will be strong."
Hana's face was a mix of shock, bewildemrent and confusion.
"I'm going. But please remember that I will always be there for you."
With that her mother flew out of the door, sparing one last glance at her daughter. Tears slid down her cheeks. It finally dawned onto her. Her mum just abandoned her and her father. Just like that.
"Hana." Her eyes widened at the deep, dull voice. "Give me my drink. And then get out of my face."
She stared at her father in disbelief. "W-what?!"
"You're the reason. The reason she left."
"Huh?" She started breathing heavy, as she tried to get her head around what her dad was saying. She didn't understand anything at all.
"I said, get out of my face!" Her dad snarled, looking at her with cold eyes. Hana didn't need to be told again. She ran straight into her bedroom, and buried her face in her pillow. She cried until she couldn't any more.
That day, everything changed. Her dad changed. She changed.
She blinked, remembering everything that she seriously didn't want to remember. The place she once called home was now hell. The man she once called father was now Satan. And the woman she once called mother? She was long gone. And Hana couldn't care less.
Finally getting out of bed, she went ahead and took a shower. She noticed a few bruises, around her neck and covering her chest. Her hands her neck gently, her face expressionless. Her mind flew back to the events of yesterday. Her father had grabbed her neck and repeatedly punched her, as well as shoving her chest. She sighed, as she grabbed her concealer and a brush. She softly the brush against her neck, wincing a little because of the pain. Finally satisfied, she grabbed her earphones and her phone. Quickly searching for a song, Hana ran down the stairs quietly. She checked the drawers for something to eat, trying to not make any noise. She checked her pockets, and found a bit of cash. She could buy something for lunch at the convenience store. Checking the time, she noticed she had time before school started.
Hana hummed as she walked to the store. Quickly, she ran down to the aisle w
