Life is Strange
Description
Tiffany wonders. Out of all the people in school, she had to fall in love with someone who seemed to hate her. She was pretty, smart, kind, lovely -- what more did Taeyeon want?
Taeyeon just wants her alive, that's all.
Foreword
Little pricks of heavy rain land on her face. She wakes up, gasping in air as if she was drowning underwater. Her body aches from the cold, windy air that threatened to lift her away.
She was in the middle of a storm, she realized. The girl forced herself up, trying to keep her balance while fighting against nature. The wind was dangerously strong and the girl could see the tall trees nearly tipping over. As she looked up ahead, she realized the light in the air wasn't from Mother Nature's lightning.
It was a lighthouse. It's man-made steel barely able to hold itself together.
I have to get to the lighthouse..I'll be safe if I can make it there.. The girl thought, as she dragged herself up the muddy slope. The rain made it difficult to see, but again, the night wasn't helping either. She continued to crawl towards the beacon, her only hope.
She pushed herself through some trees, holding onto her bag that swayed heavily on her side.
The poor student had no idea how she ended up here, or where here even was. She was a few steps away from the lighthouse when she saw the storm itself.
The storm was impossible to describe. It was in the middle of the ocean, nearly the size of a city if she guessed it properly. She had never seen anything so dangerously huge up close. She watched as the town she grew up in and loved was swallowed up by the tornado ; pieces of houses ripping apart as it flew into the eye of the storm.
She watched helplessly as the tornado grew closer. Something hit the lighthouse and she heard the metallic sound of steel bending. She turned her body towards the lighthouse, leaving enough time to watch the building collapse above her. A chunk of the building, landing right above her--
A small flash of light sets off in the corner of the room. Tiffany looks up. A girl had taken a photo of herself with her polaroid camera.
"I believe Taeyeon has taken what you kids call a "selfie"." Mr. Jefferson, their photography teacher, takes note of the girl's action. Tiffany chuckled to herself. What kind of person would take a selfie in the middle of class?
Their teacher continues. "A dumb word for a wonderful photographic tradition. And Taeyeon...has a gift."
The bell rings and most of the students get up. Mr. Jefferson continues to lecture before quickly rattling off the homework. "Don't forget to turn in your entry for the Everyday Heroes contest! Read ahead on your textbooks or online." Most of the students rushed out of the room, including the selfie-taking girl, Taeyeon.
Tiffany begins to pack up her things, stuffing them into her backpack when her phone vibrates.
Girls' Bathroom. NOW.
The text read. It was from Nathan Prescott. That had the nerve!
Tiffany smirks. She had blackmailed him for money. She slide everything into her bag and ran out the door. She made a quick stop at her locker so she could leave her bag inside. Just before she closed it, she looked at her reflection in her locker mirrors.
She fixed her bangs first, before running her fingers through her hair. Satisfied, she puckered up her lips and closed the door.
With a careful yet quickened walk, she rushed into the school's first floor bathroom. She pushed the door open, scoffing once she saw Nathan.
"Lock the ing door." He hissed, leaning over the sink counter. Tiffany's aura switched, she relaxed her muscles, looking as if the mentally ill looking boy bothered her none.
"Meeting in the girls' bathroom huh? You've got some balls, -scott." She equally ridiculed. Tiffany checked all the stalls, making sure no one was in them. She didn't bother checking the janitor's little corner. "Now, let's talk about that money."
"I've got nothing for you."
"Wrong. You've got hella cash."
"That's my family, not me."
Tiffany crosses her arms, taunting the boy. "Oh boo hoo. Poor little rich kid. I know what you've been doing with the drugs, giving and distributing them to the kids here." It was true. Back at the Vortex Club party, Tiffany had seen Nathan behind the scenes dealing drugs. This was why she had called him to meet.
She wanted to blackmail him for money.
"It's going to be easy, Nate." She leaned against the counter next to him. "Give me the money and I'll shut up about it, or you know..I can go to your family and tell them everything you've been doing."
"Leave. My. Family. Alone."
Tiffany pushes him on the arm. "I'm going to tell everyone that Nathan Prescott is a little punk who pays the Principal off and deals drugs--" Nathan takes a step back, pointing a silver weapon at her face.
"YOU DON'T KNOW WHO THE I AM, OR WHO YOU'RE MESSING WITH!" He nearly yells ; his finger on the trigger, the barrel aimed at Tiffany's head. Immediately, Tiffany lowers her voice as she backs away, hands in the air.
"W-Where'd you get that? What are you doing? Come on..put that thing down." Tiffany feels her back pressed against the white tiled walls.
"I'M SO SICK OF PEOPLE TRYING TO CONTROL ME!!"
"You're going to get into a hell of a lot more trouble for this than drugs--" The girl whimpered, as Nathan continued to scream in front of her face.
"You may be ing popular -- but no one's here to help you now!" Tiffany could feel the gun resting on her stomach.
"Get away from me you psycho!" She screams, using her hands to push him away.
Tiffany hears two things.
A gun shot.
And a grunt.
It happened all too fast, or was it too sudden? Before she could understand it, Nathan was on the floor, his gun kicked away by another girl.
Where did she come from? Tiffany thought. She wasn't in any of the stalls..
The girl was breathing heavily, swinging a metal mophead around. Tiffany took a closer look, it was that girl in her photography class, Taeyeon.
She had a relieved look on her face, but she didn't seem too surprised or worried about everything that just happened.
"Come here.." Taeyeon said, still trying to catch her breath. "And stand behind me. When they ask, it was all self-defense. You don't know anything about why he was here, or why he tried to shoot you."
"W-What?" Tiffany cried out.
"Just come here!" They could hear the commotion outside. Most of it was screaming, the sounds of squeaking shoes, and some men yelling. The school's security was on them now, trying to open the door.
"Don't touch the gun." Taeyeon whispered as Tiffany stepped over Nathan's unconscious body. "Let me do the talking."
"Who.." Who are you was a dumb question. She knew Taeyeon was her classmate and all, but she didn't know anything else to say. "..Why.."
Taeyeon took a hold of her hand and squeezed it reassuringly. They hadn't talked before, or anything at all, but suddenly, Tiffany felt as if she's known Taeyeon before.
"No time to talk." The girl says softly, as if there was some hidden meaning behind the words. "They're going to open the door."
Sure enough, security bursts through the door. They yell some words, aiming their pistols at the two when they realize they weren't the suspects.
Tiffany hides behind her savior, shaking from fear. How stupid was she? Why on earth did she think blackmailing Nathan Prescott for money was going to go well?
She was happy that Taeyeon was in the bathroom with her. If it wasn't for her...she could have been dead..
Tiffany turns around, realizing Taeyeon must have been hiding in the janitor's closet area, the very area she didn't check. As the security confiscates Nathan's gun and begins to handcuff him, Tiffany retreats to the corner where she spots a blue butterfly resting quietly on the sink counter.
