Yongsun loved music, that was obvious. But it wasn’t everyday that the Muse of Lyric Writing knocked on her door bearing gifts. Today seemed to be the case; she stared at the black piece of paper in front of her, and absentmindedly twirled the pen in her right hand. Humming a simple tune, she spun around on her chair, rolling it towards her room door and back. What would Hyejin do? Probably say something like, “Just write whatever’s on your mind. Or in your cupboard, or on your shoe rack, or in your laundry basket…”, she thought to herself. But to express her current state of mind in words was not something Yongsun could do right now, not when she her mind was completely blank. Well, not completely. There was a little corner of her tired brain that, since a few days ago, was constantly active. Using all the energy she had left to focus on that part of her mind that ran like a hyperactive hamster on a wheel, she put pen to paper, and started to write about Moonbyul.

Moon Byulyi sat on her bed, fiddling with the smartphone in her hands. What a relaxing day it was today, filled with nothing but procrastination. Swiping app after app on the screen, she chose one that she recently downloaded. Because apparently people are smart enough to install Nintendo software in an app, she thought to herself gleefully. While waiting for the app to load, she craned her neck to look at the fiery ball of burning heat that glared from beyond the window. Sometimes, she would look at the sun and think of how it not only kept everything on this earth alive, but also how much the moon really needed the sun so that it could shine at night. Ding! Her app started; it was her favourite game, with only the original 101 Pokémon featured. Without hesitation, she chose Squirtle as her starter, as she always did. Moonbyul proceeded to spend the rest of her day playing, enveloped in the ever-comfortable warmth of the sun.

Wheein washed her hands at the washroom of the café, arranging her hair neatly before attempting to walk out calmly and smoothly, like nothing had happened before that. Except that it didn’t work, and she knew her legs were trembling as she sat down in her chair. She didn’t understand why she was so nervous today. Sure, she was meeting Hyejin at a little rustic café that she wasn’t sure that the phenomenally y lady would like (but she did, and that made Wheein all the happier), and sure, she did have a wonderful conversation with Hyejin about so many things because who knew that they actually came from the same town, but she just couldn’t grasp the concept of feeling like there was so much electricity, so quick and alive rushing through her. Maybe, she thought, it could have been the kiss on her cheek that she received when Hyejin went to order both of them some coffee. Just maybe. Even the recollection of it made her turn pink. And when Hyejin came back with a cup of mocha and a cappuccino, whispering almost seductively into Wheein’s ear “I’ve got our drinks”, she couldn’t help but turn tomato red. Wheein was absolutely certain that her left ear now had a little stamp of red lipstick, straight from those full pair of lips that curved back from opposite her.

Hyejin was having the time of her life. Before meeting Wheein last week, she thought that the owner of the handle @ButterflyFairy would be some strange and ridiculously cute person. Wheein was that, and so much more. Hyejin struggled to keep her attempt at a cool, relaxed facade, while inside she was just dying from the adorable enthusiasm that the other girl exuded. When they were walking out of the restaurant last week, she could hear catcalls from guys, teasing about her short skirt and tight top. She didn’t even have time to think about her outfit choices before the girl she assumed was a harmless person shouted at the boys, telling them to “stop being such douchebags” and “just grow up already”. Hyejin swore she fell even more in love with Wheein. Somehow, she managed to calm her voice enough to ask Wheein out for a second date. Now, sitting opposite the long-haired girl with cheeks an uncharacteristic shade of pink, Hyejin couldn’t help but break into a wide smile. Maybe this would actually work.
