Family History: Yoomi was born and raised in Seoul, South Korea, until her family immigrated to the US. when she was in the 4^th grade. They lived in Fairfax, ia, where they attended middle school and high school. Their parents divorced and they stayed with their mother until she couldn’t take it anymore, then they moved in with their father. They had a hard time adapt to the new ways of living. Her older brother got scouted by Brothers Entertainment and went back to South Korea, where he later on joined SM Entertainment. Beside her older brother she also has a younger brother, who is now a upcoming actor.

Background: Years after Yoochun came to Korea, Yoomi later on went to Korea to visit Yoochun. She decided to stay in Korea, and attended KyungHee University; later on she was discovered by an agent while shooting a mini drama with her class.
