Kyungsoo sneaked under the table, passing through to the cramped spot under the sofa without being noticed by the crowd around it. Their owners were entertaining friends that evening, and they all sat in the living room, talking loudly.

But Kyungsoo didn’t mind them, he didn’t care at all. He had his eyes on something else. The beagle laid by someone’s chair, being cute and charming, winning over the hearts of every new human he saw. That’s what it had become when their owners had people over, Chanyeol would jump and drool all around them, begging to be petted.

“He’s such a lovely boy! What an affectionate dog you two have!”

He was sometimes the center of the conversation, and when spoken about, people’s words always came out in higher tones than usual, those used to speak about cute things.

Kyungsoo ignored the voices, slithering through, getting closer and closer to the end of the couch, seeing an imaginary red target right at the beagle’s head.

“But what is it like having a dog and a cat together in the same house? Is it hard, do they fight a lot?”

Kyungsoo was finally close enough. He prepared himself to pounce, his head already peeking out from under the piece of furniture, his back legs ten
