“Happy Thanksgiving!”

I stepped into their house gingerly, my eyes bouncing off each stranger who welcomed me with wide smiles, introducing themselves all at the same time.

“Oh, nice to meet you - I'm Ji Eun…” I mutter a small response, my eyes landing on a figure behind all the others, his head lowered with his eyes focused on his phone. Typical.

I smile at the new aquaintances, taking off my shoes and following the hostess to bring my mom’s dessert to the kitchen, her son(?) shuffling behind us. Still looking at his phone. Seriously? I mean, I loved my phone too and it was killing me just pretending to be social today, but it's Thanksgiving - try being a bit more social at least on this one day.

“How old are you, Ji Eun? My son, Myungsoo over here, is in his senior year…”

“Ah, I’m a junior…”

“Oh, a year apart! Myungsoo!” The lady calls out her son sharply, and I turn to see his steel eyes lift to glance at me, then his mother.

“Hm?”
