Forgotten
I'm DifferentHaneul’s POV
I was awoken by my phone ringing. No one apart from my parents actually calls me.
“What?” I answered, still half asleep.
“How rude~” A familiar voice said.
“What? Who is this?” I sat up and looked at the number.
“OH MY GOD!!!! IT’S YOU!!!!” I laughed.
“It’s me, Baby girl. Free today? Meet your friend please.” He said.
“What? Where are you?” I asked.
“Where you are is where I am.” He said.
“DAMN! DON’T TELL ME YOU’RE HERE!!” I shouted.
Then I heard my doorbell rang.
I ran out and opened the door.
“AHHHH!!! JACE!!!!! I MISS YOU!!!!!” We hugged and he gave me a peck on my cheek.
“Eww..” I .
“What eww! Gosh! I flew over here to give you a peck and all you said is EWW!?” He frowned.
“Ahhh no no. Come on in.” I said.
“No one is home?” He asked.
“Is it new?” I said.
“This is a really beautiful apartment.” He said.
“What’s the point?” I said.
He shrugged his shoulders and smiled at me.
“How have you been? Coping well?” He asked.
“Not good at all. I hate this damn place. I miss home.” I said, brushing my teeth at the same time.
“Are you coming back?” He asked.
“Honestly, although my parents never said anything, I seriously doubt I’ll be going back anymore. It . I hate this place like to the core.” I said.
“Awww poor thing. Make the best out of it okay? I want to see you smile.” He said.
“Make yourself at home. I’ll wash up and then we’ll have some fun today, okay?” I said.
“Isn’t this why I am here?” He smiled.
I took a quick shower and ran out.
“Okay let’s go!” I smiled.
“Dry your hair. How many times do I have to say?” He said.
“Let the wind dry it.” I said.
“The wind is cold! It’ll give you a headache. Stupid or what?” He made me sit down as he blow dry my hair.
“Ahh, I miss this.” I said, leaning against his stomach.
“I miss you too.” He said, blowing the hot air onto my face.
Jace is my best friend. We are so close that people always mistaken us as a couple. We both had feelings for each other, we both confessed, we tried it, but it was too weird. So in the end, we both decided that we should remain as best friends. We share kisses and hugs, but we’re nothing more than just really, really close friends.
We linked arms and went out.
“I’m hungry.” He said.
“Hungry? Hmm.. What do you feel like eating?” I asked.
“Your call. You’re the almost Korean here.” He laughed.
“Hey, don’t call me that. I hate this place.” I smacked his chest.
“Argh.. As violent as ever.” He pouted.
We went to a food stall and had a quick meal before heading down town.
“So what do you usually do after school?” He asked.
“Nothing much. I walk around, then go to work.” I said.
“YOU WORK!?” He laughed.
“Damn you! I work okay!” I frowned.
“Okay, okay. You work.” He giggled.
“It’s bored at home. No one is at home. I’m alone.” I said.
“Don’t sulk.” He pulled me closer to him.
“Why are people staring at me?” He asked.
“Erm…. Because you’re handsome? Hahaha.” I said.
“Really? I didn’t know my popularity has traveled to Korea.” He smirked.
“It’s been about a few months since we met, I didn’t know your skin could grow to this thick.” I said.
“You .” He scoffed.
“Well, thank you.” I smiled.
“Let’s watch a movie. Something I can understand please.” He said.
“I don’t know. I’ve never watched a movie ever since I came.” I said.
“You never!? What sort of life have you been living? Don’t you ever hang out with your friends!?” He said.
“Friends? What friends? You kidding me? I have no friends here okay. I’m alone.” I said.
“Are you serious?” He asked, looking at me.
“I am.” I said.
“Well. I do have one. But I don’t intend to be extremely close friends with him.” I said.
“Why?” He asked.
“He’s a nice guy. I just don’t know. I don’t like the people here.” I said.
“Give him a chance.” He said.
“We’ll see. Eh, let’s watch this.” I pointed to the screen.
“It’s Korean.” He said.
“Yea, you’re in Korea.” I said.
“Stupid girl. How do we buy the tickets?” He asked.
“No idea. Let’s just crap.” I said, pulling him to the counter.
“Eh.. Can we have two tickets to this movie please?” I said, gesturing the two sigh.
She smiled and handed us the tickets.
“That was easy.” I said.
We went in and searched for our seats.
“Why is it like this?” I asked, staring at the love couch.
“She must have thought we’re lovers.” He smiled.
“Your fault!” I said.
“Hello, it’s your arm linking over mine.” He said.
“No, it’s yours linking over mine.” I said.
“Whatever, let’s sit down.” He smiled.
Throughout the whole movie, we were trying to guess what the show was talking about.
“It’s a pretty nice movie.” I said.
“Right. As if you understood a single word.” He said.
“I understood annyeonghasaeyo and saranghaeyo.” I said.
“Wow! That’s like! Wah! I understood ahjusshi and ahjumma too!” He smiled.
“Damn you.” I said.
He put his arm over my shoulders and we went shopping. We had so much fun that I totally forgot what time it was or what day it was.
Junhyung’s POV
“Hyung, dinner’s here.” Yoseob said.
“Erm.. I’m not hungry.” I said.
“Why? Eat something.” Doojoon said.
“It’s okay. I’m fine.” I said, looking at the clock, then the door.
“Why do you look so nervous?” He asked.
I just smiled at him.
“Did you invite her today?” He asked.
“How did you know?” I look at him in surprise.
“You’re not difficult to read, you know.” He said.
I looked down, trying to calm myself.
“Have you called her?” He asked.
“I… I don’t have her number.” I said.
“What? What era is this?” He said.
I looked at him and he mouthed a ‘sorry’.
“It’s okay. She wouldn’t give me her number.” I said.
“Oh. It’s okay. She’ll come.” He patted my back.
“I hope so.” I said, looking at my fingers.
“Were you choosing the seat for her that day?” He asked.
“What day?” I asked.
“That day you kept running up and down the stage like a lunatic.” He smiled.
“Oh yea. I was afraid that if it’s too in front, her neck would hurt. If it’s too far back, she’ll not be able to see anything, then it kinds of defeats the purpose, isn’t it?” I said.
“How thoughtful. In actual fact, you want her to sit in a spot you can easily see, right?” He said.
“Hyung!” I whined. But he was right, somehow.
I look at the time; it was half an hour to the concert. Why isn’t she here? Did she lose her way?
The door opened and I stood up.
“Erm.. Hi?” Seungho Hyung said.
“Oh. It’s you. Hi Hyung.” I said, sitting back down.
“What? You seem like you’re not welcoming me.” He said.
“It’s not that.” I said.
“So.. How’s that preparation going on?” He asked.
“What preparation?” I asked.
“You can’t fool me. You invited her, didn’t you?” He said.
“How did you know?” My eyes widen.
“I’m your Hyung. I’m all around.” He laughed.
“Ahh.. I don’t know if she’ll even come.” I said.
“Have some confidence would you?” He said.
“Look at the time. She’s not even here. She has the backstage pass.” I said.
“Maybe she doesn’t want to come here.” He said.
“I hope so.” I smiled.
“So what song did you prepare for her?” He asked.
“Erm.. ‘Beautiful’. Then when we hand out roses to the fans, I’ll hand hers to her.” I said.
“That’s really sweet.” He said.
“Boys, we have to go.” My manager Hyung said.
“I’ll be down there rooting for you! Fighting!” He said.
“KIDS! LET’S GO!” Doojoon Hyung shouted.
“My kids! Here!” Seungho Hyung shouted to his MBLAQ boys.
We did a ‘fighting’ together before heading up stage. I felt so cold and nervous. What would her reaction be? Would I even see her?
“Junhyung. Relax!” Doojoon hissed.
“Sorry.” I said, looking down to prepare.
The moment the lights went out, we could hear the fans yelling. Despite the noise, I could literally hear my own heartbeat. My heart was beating so fast I thought I was going to get a heart attack soon. For the first time, I felt so damn nervous.
When I looked up into the audience for the first time, everything was a blur. The lights were so strong that I could hardly see anything. My heart beat wildly and my stomach churned like mad. While dancing and rapping, I looked around. I knew the seat by heart, but for some reason, I couldn’t find it. But when I finally found it, I wish I hadn’t looked at all. It was empty.
“Jun! Don’t space out!” Doojoon whispered.
“Sorry.” I mumbled.
“She’ll come. Maybe she’s late.” He said.
“I know.” I said as I continued to perform.
For the first time, I felt like bursting into tears and just yelling ‘why?’. I put in the effort, was I not good enough? I thought she was just joking, I never expected her to really not come. But maybe she is late? She’s never early. She’ll come, right?
I smiled, but my heart was aching like crazy. How could she do this to me?
