Denial
The Five Stages"They don't believe you exist you know." GD said as he placed his next card on the table.
"Oh?" said TaeYang raising an eyebrow.
"They think I'm crazy." he continued, rearranging the cards he had left in his hand.
"Maybe they're right." TaeYang chuckled.
"Puh-lease" GD rolled his eyes.
"Really," said TaeYang leaning forward, putting his elbows on the table. "Maybe I should be concerned."
"If you were "concerned", you would have been there instead of leaving me to make excuses for you." GD said laying down another card.
TaeYang shook his head at GD's choice of cards, causing him to take it back and lay down another. "I told you Ji, something came up."
"That's another thing," GD said. "when exactly are you going to tell me what this "something" was that made you miss the worst day of my life?" He began to put down another card, stopping to look at TaeYang. TaeYang nodded, and JiYoung laid the card down.
"Mianhae" TaeYang replied. "You know how much you mean to me, right?"
JiYoung sighed, "Yes."
"Good", TaeYang smiled making his eyes smile too. "so...we're ok?"
"Why wouldn't we be? We're best friends." GD said, putting away the cards, grabbing his sketchbook and a pencil as he moved closer to the window. "Let me sketch you."
"Again?" TaeYang followed him. "I know I'm pretty Ji, but how many drawings of me do you need?"
JiYoung scoffed. "You're an ." he said to TaeYang, as he turned to a fresh page in his sketch book.
"Oohhhh, but I'm YOUR " TaeYang teased giving a little booty-shake, making JiYoung smile, even though he tried to hide it.
"Puh-lease." GD rolled his eyes again. "Would you hold still?"
"Tell me you love me." TaeYang . "Tell me you'll never forget me."
GD laid the sketchbook down, giving his full attention to TaeYang. Taking a deep breath, he began to speak as if from written memory, with absolutely no emotion, or facial expression; "Yes, yes I admit it, I need you, I love you, I've always loved you, life without you would be meaningless, now please, O' love of my life sit the down and shut up so I can draw you."
TaeYang burst into laughter at that and missed the chair he was trying to sit in, which made him laugh even harder, until tears were streaming down his cheeks.
JiYoung saw TaeYang miss the chair and fall, laughing onto the floor, and just shook his head, "God help me, I'm in love with an idiot." he said as he began to draw.
TaeYang sat quietly observing JiYoung as he worked. Time seemed to standstill lately when he was with JiYoung, he treasured these moments.
JiYoung's phone buzzed. "Yamaseo?" he spoke into the receiver.
TaeYang took advantage of the phone call to look over JiYoung's shoulder at the drawing. His breath caught for a moment. JiYoung not only captured his image, but his emotions as well. The 'TaeYang' in the drawing was clearly a man in love. It was reflected in the way JiYoung drew the eyes, and the shy smile. Obviously JiYoung could see how much he loved him. He smiled, as a tear slid unnoticed down his cheek.
"You like it?" GD asked.
TaeYang startled, began to blush. He had been so engrossed in the picture that he hadn't heard GD end the phone call. "Is this how you see me?" he asked.
GD studied the picture for a moment, then nodded. "Pretty much," he said, "but I did use my artistic license to hide your flaws."
"Excuse me?" TaeYang began, "Flaws? What flaws?"
"Oh Gosh," JiYoung said seriously, "there are so many....do you want like, an actual list? It would take some time, but I might be able to get one..."
TaeYang glared at his friend. "Oh, you think you are just soooo funny, don't you?"
"Don't you?" JiYoung had the nerve to ask as they both broke out into hysterical laughter.
TaeYang flashed his eye smiles at JiYoung, it was good to hear him laugh again. It had been too long.
