Beast is not my type

Beauty and the beast

Apparently when I asked my classmates if Krystal Jung turned into a bear, they thought I was crazy. Couldn't they see that their queen was a living bear walking along the hallway, swaying its hips as it did so. I gagged a little at the sight and pulled my head away to avoid looking at it.

"I can't believe she agreed in going out with you Amber!" My best friend Kai said while gawking at the bear walking past us. "You are ing lucky man!" Kai head locked me and ruffled my hair vigorously. I yanked myself out of his grip and combed my jet black hair with my fingers while narrowing my eyes at him.

"Can't you see?" Kai raised his brow at what I said.

"See what?"

"That Krystal Jung is a bear!" I whispered harshly into his ear because my friends would think that I was crazy, well they probably already did.

"This again." Kai rolled his eyes and knocked my forehead with his fingers, hard. I yelped in pain and rubbed the sore spot he just hit. "Quit being silly, if your girlfriend hears this she will not be happy." I grimaced at the mention of my 'girlfriend'. I didn't want a girlfriend like that.

I, Amber Liu, the handsome tomboy everyone in school probably knew of. In short, I was one of the popular kids in school and I had horde of girls swooning over me. But I was only interested in beautiful things, especially beautiful girls who could catch my eyes. I wouldn't even bat an eyelash at someone if she wasn't pretty or above my line of standard. I knew I was being too judgemental on looks but that was how it was. I grew up with around beautiful women. My mom was Miss Korea and my sister is a rising model.

The girl that caught my eyes instantly the first time I laid my eyes on her was no other than Krystal Jung, the hottest girl, aka the queen of our school. She was downright the most breathtaking girl I have ever seen, even prettier than my mom and sister. I knew I fell hard for her, well her looks to be exact. Those mesmerizing big cat like eyes and long thick lashes. Those sharp perfect nose and thin kissable lips. Those long wavy brown locks...

"Amber." I jolted in shock when the bear suddenly appeared in front of me. Kai nudged my ribs and gave me a thumbs up before scurrying away. I watched as the beast in front of me stared at me with those huge scary eyes. Its black pointy nose moved as it breathed. Its mouth opened, displaying its sharp canines as it spoke with that eerily girlie voice. "We have the same class now. Lets walk there together."

I gulped the incredibly large lump on my throat and nodded faintly. We walked in silence, and I couldn't help but threw a few glances at her every steps we took.

"What?" It suddenly asked and I jumped in shock and looked straight at the busy corridor. The people were looking at us whispering among themselves. I chewed on my cheek while contemplating if I should ask her the question that had been in my head for the longest time.

"Are you a bear." I finally asked, and silenecw engulfed us for a moment before I heard her huffed.

"Is that supposed to be a joke?" She looked at me as if I was crazy, while I was busy looking at her brunette fur on her nose.

"Yeah..." I nodded faintly before walking into the class and to my seat, and watched as Krystal made her way to her seat while eyeing me weirdly.

Was I the only one who saw her as a bear? What was going on with me?

She wasn't cute. Not at all. I concluded as I walked the bear home silently. I grimaced everytime I looked at her, she looked just like a bear after all. I wondered if I should break things off between us now... nah, too early. Maybe a couple weeks more, then she wouldn't feel insulted and blamed it on me... She was the queen of the school, I would be dead if she decided to hate on me.

"Thanks." She said before grabbing her bag which she had ordered me to take for her and walked to her door without looking back. Not only she wasn't cute, she was rude too. I probably wouldn't mind that she was rude if she was her old self. But whatever. I shrugged it off before turning on my heels readying to walk back to my house.

"Hey!" The bear's voice sounded and I turned over my shoulder and looked at her with a brow arched. "Come in." She asked, more like demanded. Ugh. Did I have to?

"Em, yeah, sure. Okay." I shrugged and walked to her house hesitantly. "Nice house." I said while looking around the place, not wanting to look at her beastly features.

"If you want anything just get it from the fridge." She said, as she plopped herself down on the couch and switched the TV on.

"Nah, I'm not thirsty."

"But I am, so go and get me something to drink from the fridge." She said without looking at me.

I clenched my teeth angrilly and started to the kitchen. Ugly beasts shouldn't boss people around, especially me. I freaking hated that beast now. I had heard rumors that she was a spoilt y little girl with an attitude.

I didn't mind as long as she was pretty, but now it was a different story. A whole different story. She looked freaking ugly now for God's sake. I dug my fingers into my hair and sighed in exasperation. I would definitely dump her after this week.

"Took you long enough." She said while reaching her hairy paw to grab the cup of mango juice I had poured for her. She noticed me standing awkwardly beside the couch and raised a brow at me. "What are you doing standing there?"

I gulped before making my way to sit at the far end of the couch, as far as it could get from the bear.

She looked unhappy for a moment before she reached for me and I flinched as she grabbed me with her scary paw and pulled me closer to her. I just sat rigid staring into space as she rested her legs, let me remind you, her bear legs on my laps.

I tried hard not to grimace too much at her fat furry legs and concentrate on what was on the TV instead. My eyes involuntarily glanced down. Not a pretty sight. Eh? I noticed a red spot admist those brunette fur and I reached over to touch it. She jolted a little and winced in pain.

"What happened to your leg?" I asked without looking at her and instead carressed the red spot.

"I knocked my foot on the edge of the table yesterday." She said while wincing slightly as I pressed softly on the spot. "Stop touching it, it hurts." She scrunched her nose and glared at me.

"Wait a moment." I slowly lifted her pair of huge beastly legs and got up from the couch before reaching over my bad and fished out a bottle of ointment I kept just in case I got hurt during basketball matches. I sat back on the couch and placed her legs back on top of my lap before squeezing a small portion of the oitment out on my fingers and rubbed them on her bruised feet.

"Y-yah! W-what-"

"Shh..." I wasn't really in the mood to hear her whining. Imagine rubbing your fingers on a bear's feet, how disgusting is that? But being the kind gentleman (or woman in this case) I am, I couldn't stand seeing my ugly girlfriend hurt without helping her.

"Amber." Krystal called out softly and I hummed in respond, still rubbing on her feet. "Thank you." She muttered out sincerely, and for a moment I looked up, I thought I saw her blushing. Wait, how was that possible? She had those fur on her face and even if she did blushed I couldn't possible see it. And who was I kidding? Krystal Jung, the cold hearted girl would blush? Joke of the year. But still I couldn't help but felt my heart beating faster and my throat getting dry, What the hell was that?
