Chapter 4- Trust issues.
Collision: A Broken & A Frozen HeartKim Jongin coolly left the restaurant after paying for
the meal with Soojung’s and his money. He took a
breath, inhaling the cool night breeze. He felt relaxed,
now that his date was over, and he would not have to
meet up with her again. Closing his eyes, he prayed that
she would come back soon. The piece and tranquility of
the place was shattered when he heard an ear-piercing scream.
Shocked, yes he was. But he decided to ignore it. Who knows,
it might have been an exaggerated person who had just tripped.
He continued walking, swinging his arms, until he heard
it again. This time, it was louder, and the shriek was
accompanied by growls. The person screamed once more,
and it made Jongin stop in his tracks. He had a sudden flashback.
To the time when she got injured in front of his eyes. There was
something that she said at that time. Something that he would
never forget.
“Promise me that you are going to help others too, not just me.”
Groaning, he listened to where the sound was coming from
before sprinting to the direction. He witnessed a strangely
familiar figure, trying to defend herself from a buff man.
He ran towards them and punched the guy. He stumbled
back, and Jongin took this as an opportunity to grab the
girl’s wrist and flee. They were running for a while, before
he was sure that the man was not behind them anymore. They
were out on the pedestrian street when Jongin finally let go
of her wrist and took a good look at her face.
“It’s you.”
Jung Soojung was more than shocked to see that her savior
was him. Initially grateful, she started to have doubts when
she realised how easily the man was overpowered by Jongin.
Did he follow her? Was it because she was rude to him?
And he made it clear that he was not interested, was
that all a facade? A front to make her drop her guard?
“What are you doing? Did you follow me?”
“What do you mean? I just saved you from that man.
Shouldn’t you be thanking me instead?”
“No. For all I know, he might have been your accomplice.
What is your intention?”
Jongin couldn’t believe his ears. He had just gone out
of his way to help her. If not for her words, she might
have been in some dark corner already.
“I don’t know what you are talking about. I just helped
you. You were going to get , weren’t you?”
“See? How did you know I was going to get ?
You must have a motive. Whatever it is, just stop it.
I’m not falling for your ‘hero’ act.”
With that, she stomped off once more, leaving Kim
Jongin utterly speechless and definitely irritated.
Had she really ignored his kind act?
I am so glad that I will not meet her again.
I am so glad that I never meet him again.
The two individuals walked off, not knowing that
starting from that day, their invisible red strings of
fate had been intertwined.
---
Meanwhile, in the bustling local airport, a man stood
at the arrival area with a banner.
---
“Soojung , how was the date?” Her father asked her
the moment she stepped foot inside the house.
Soojung forced a smile onto her face. She did not
want to lie, but her father’s hopeful face made her
decide otherwise.
“It was good. He was, nice.”
She cringed inwardly.
Nice as in, it would be nice to smack him in the face.
He even hired someone to “” me so I would fall
for his charms. I’ve seen too many movies to fall for that.
Her father’s face lit up like a Christmas tree.
“Really? Thank goodness. When are you going to
see him again?”
Soojung was stunned. It had not crossed her mind that
her father would ask that. Should she tell the truth?
“Uh..”
“It’s okay, we will invite him for dinner. Do you have
his number? Call him so we can arrange a date when he is free.”
“Dad, there is absolutely no need to do that. He’s a working
adult, he has friends and a life of his own, we shouldn’t
disturb him. Besides, I do not have his number.”
“I do. Do you want it?” Hearing that, she spun around
and widened her eyes at her brother.
“Sejongie! Since when were you home?”
“It’s Saturday. There is no work. Were you too busy
ogling at Jongin?”
Soojung suddenly remembered the lie that her brother
had told her. She wanted to confront him.
“By the way, why did you lie to me? Jongin is your
friend, is he not? You said your friend knew him.”
“Kids, is that really important? What we should be focusing
on as of now, is how to get Jongin to have dinner with our family.
It is crucial that my eldest baby’s first boyfriend gets to meet me.
Don’t worry, if he is not worthy of you, I will personally chase him out.”
Soojung wanted to slap herself for lying to him. Now, she had to
deal with the horrible consequence of it. Seeing him again.
Sejong made it worse by snatching her phone from her hands,
and punching in the digits of the man’s number. The father and
son then crowded around her, urging her to call him. And when
she did not, the supposedly younger one made the decision to
take it upon himself to call the man.
After a great deal of raising the phone up in the air, and
Soojung desperately trying her very best to reach it,
the call was connected.
“Hello?”
“Jongin!”
“Sejong? Did you change your number?”
“No, this is my sister’s phone. Make sure you save her
number. So, rumor has it that the date went superbly well.
My father has suggested that you come around one day
to have dinner with us.”
On the other side, Jongin fell silent.
“Hello?”
“Oh, uh-”
“Hold on. My father is saying something. Yes, yes.
Oh, marvelous. Brilliant idea. He said, why not come
around tomorrow. It’s Sunday and he insists you come
over for dinner. My sister has the talent to whip up some
of the tastiest dishes. So, Sunday, 7pm, I’ll text you the
address. No objections. Bye!”
The call ended, both Jongin and Soojung looked like
they had been electrocuted. Sejong had the ability to sound
so convincing, and leave no room for protests.
Either way, they had no choice but to see each other again.
Hello everybody! Da jia hao! Erm, hello po sa lahat?
OMG can somebody tell me if there is a Tagalog word
for hello? And I can't even spell in Tagalog. Huhu.
Anyways, here is another chapter~it's a little bit on the
shorter side, I just did not want to reveal so much yet.
I do hope that this will be enjoyed by everyone reading it.
