Chapter 1 - The story
Collision: A Broken & A Frozen Heart"Why won't you ever
let people into your
heart?"
That was the question
many people had asked
Jung Soojung. Why?
Why was she so cold
hearted? So...distant.
Many people had tried
to get her to open up
her heart. Not one of
them was successful.
Not even her friends
came close. She had
friends. But they were
not so close that Soojung
would actually tell them
her problems. Eventually,
majority of those people
gave up. They ended up
labelling her as a "distant
girl with a heart of stone".
They eventually stopped
trying to talk to her. Pretty
soon, she only had one
friend left. Jung Soojung
did not mind though, she
had been through worse.
This? This was nothing.
----
"Why won't you ever
date other people
again?"
That was the question
many people had asked
Kim Jongin. Girls had
tried to flirt with him.
Be it cute, y, flirty,
nerdy. None of them
succeeded. His friends
tried to get him to date.
His parents were worried.
But Kim Jongin didn't care.
No matter what people
told him, he wasn't
going to listen. What did
they know?
-----
Jung Soojung would never
forget that day. It was
supposedly a normal day.
She got home, and saw
that her normally loving
and sweet parents were
quarelling. Soojung
shrugged it off. Couples
quarelled at times too.
However, she knew that
something was very wrong
when her father shouted.
He would rarely shout.
He was so gentle and soft-
spoken, should he ever
lose his temper, he would
do it softly. Not once did
he raise his voice to his
children, nor had Soojung
seen him do so to his wife.
She crept out of her room,
and hid behind the stair
railings.
"How could you, Minjung?"
She heard him yell.
"Honey, please don't
raise your voice. The children
might hear." Minjung
pleaded.
"Don't you call me that."
Anger was evident in
his strained voice, which
made it clear that he was
gritting his teeth to prevent
him from shouting.
How could mom do what?
Soojung thought to herself.
Surely it couldn't be that
bad... Oh if only she knew.
She assured herself that
whatever the problem
was, it would be solved
the next day. She was
prepared to go back to
her room that she
shared with her siblings,
when she heard her mother
say,
"I'm sorry for cheating.
I didn't mean to."
Soojung gasped and
covered to
prevent them from
realising that she
had been eavsdropping.
It was too late. Her
mother had looked
up and asked her
to come down,
tears b
her eyes.
"Oh, baby, I'm so sorry.
You know I love you
and your dad very
much right?" She
made an attempt to
hug her crying daughter.
Soojung backed away.
"Then why did you
cheat?"
"Baby, you don't
understand."
"If you loved us, then
you wouldn't have
cheated."
Wiping her tears,
Soojung ran up to
her room, where her
oblivious brother and
sister were sleeping.
She must have cried
herself to sleep
because the next thing
she remembered was
waking up to find that
her mother was gone
and that she and her
husband were going
to file for a divorce.
Soojung's siblings,
being only 7 and 3
years old, were not
told about the cheating.
At 10, Soojung
understood her father's
decision and kept
shut. Her father eventually
fell into depression and
they all suffered. Because
of this, 10 years old Jung
Soojung made the
decision that the people
you love, are only
going to betray you.
-----
Kim Jongin absentmindedly
played with a silver
bracelet with an engravement.
"J.N" was carved .
He was going to wait
for her. She didn't mean
all the things she said.
Nevertheless, he
heart ached whenever
he thought about that
day.
Kim Jongin smiled at
the bracelet in his
hands. He was going
to give it to the one
he loved. He looked
around, trying to find
her. He spotted her
signature half up-
half down hairstyle
and walked over to
her, unsuspecting
of what was soon to
happen.
His girlfriend of 3 years
was walking towards
him, an awkward smile
planted on her delicate
face. Jongin was too
excited to notice that
there was something
different about her.
He tried to kiss her,
but she backed away.
It was then that he realised.
"What's wrong?"
She shook her head, hesitant
to tell. He smiled at
her and showed her the
bracelet that had his
and her initial engraved
on it.
"Jongin, I can't accept
this, I'm sorry."
Shocked and disappointed,
Jongin asked her why.
"I'm leaving."
"What?"
"I said I'm leaving."
"Where?"
"England."
"W-What about us?"
Jongin's voice cracked.
"Honestly, I don't have
feelings for you anymore.
I tried to tell you many
times, but you would
change the subject."
"You're breaking up
with me?"
"Yes I am. I'm sorry
Jongin. I meant to
tell you sooner. I
really did. I have to
go now. I have a flight
to catch."
With that, she just
left like that. Without
looking back. Without
seeing her ex's heartbroken
face. Tears were welling
up in his eyes as the
situation dawned on him.
She just broke up
with him. The pain
he felt undescribable.
It was like being shot
in the heart, but that
was an understatement.
Since then, Kim Jongin
vowed never to date
anyone again, lest his
ex comes back. The
only person he was
ever going to be with
was her. No one else.
------
That was their story.
A story that no one
else seemed to know.
The stories that would
haunt them forever.
The stories that caused
them pain.
The story that built
an iron wall around
Jung Soojung's heart
and froze it.
The story that crushed
Kim Jongin's heart
and broke it.
