Blue kidnapping

The Atypical Trainee [ENGLISH]

If someone had told me that morning would end like this, I probably would have laughed in their face. I looked at the contracts and Yang Hyun-Suk alternatively, half expecting he suddenly say that he was kidding and everything was a joke. But instead he continued watching us with neutral face waiting for our reaction.
Part of me was proudly satisfied, our performance of 'Cell Block Tango' was epic. I guess as we hadn't the feeling of being in a real casting, without having the pressure we had just enjoyed it. And that was what had brought us to the current situation.

- Well, I will explain how this works. - Began Yang Hyun-Suk. - Normally I offer the possibility of signing three types of contracts: for two, three or four years; the three of them with the involvement of becoming YG Entertainment trainee full time. - He explained. - But I guess all of us here agree that this is far from a normal situation, so what I offer to you is the possibility to sign one of only a year, exceptionally. This means that for a year you'll be part of the company and will have a strict schedule and obligations to fulfill, such as vocal and dancing daily lessons. Likewise, the company will provide you accommodation and will take charge of travel and subsistence. - He paused to make sure that we were understanding what he was saying. - This is how it works for any trainee. However, as I mentioned before, this is not a common situation. One might almost say that it is an experiment, so in your case certain conditions more would be added. - He continued. - Really only would be two. The first is learning Korean. It isn't so extraordinary because all the trainees who don't speak it fluently, like those of mixed ancestry or those who have grown abroad, must learn it. In your case it will be a little more pressing since, as I suppose, you mustn't be familiar with the language or culture. But since you're no longer in school age, I don't think it suppose a major disruption of the schedule. Many of our younger trainees have to balance this with their studies and I can assure you that it's nothing that cannot be overcome. - Then he looked at me. - If I'm not mistaken, you're the youngest, right?

I nodded. I was a year younger than Tamsin and two than Isabelle.

- But I turn twenty this year. - I said, but actually one could say who I had just turned nineteen. - So it isn't like I were a teen.

I could feel the incredulous stares of Isabelle. It was clear that she didn't  understand why was I giving explanations to this man, as if I really could be considering the slightest possibility of signing those papers. To be fair, I didn't know what was I doing either.

- All right. - Yang Hyun-Suk nodded. - The other condition which I have spoken is to have to carry your activities, and your life here in general, apart from the rest of trainees. It is the first time something like this happens and I don't want a stir because of that, it would be imperative that you take with the utmost discretion. Eventually they will end up knowing, but if you sign I don't want to spread the word too early. - After saying that his expression softened slightly. - I know that may seem extreme, but actually sounds far worse than it is. Aside of that you are three, what already reduces the sense of isolation, you have Dongwook too. In fact, one of the reasons why I agreed to this is a commitment on his part to take care of you.

This was no surprise, since it SE7EN had expressed their intention to get involved especially with a group before entering the military.

- Also I have to say that the other veteran artists of YG Family, which would be your sunbaenims, would be aware of the situation and you could count on them. - Continued. - And with myself too, of course. We are all a family. - He half smiled. - I think I don't have anything else to add, do you have any questions?

The three of us were silent. Tamsin was open-mouthed and with a face of not knowing if suddenly she had ended in a parallel dimension, Isabelle frowning, and I just looked at the contracts with a sense of vertigo in the stomach.

- Can we think about it? - I said suddenly.
- What!? - Izzy instantly jumped of her seat. - What the heck are you thinking? We won't stay to live in Seoul! Have you gone mad !? I can't believe you're even contemplating it!
- Of course. - Yang Hyun-Suk replied, ignoring Isabelle. - But I sorry to say that you would have to give me an answer later in the day.
 - Fine.
 - Nat!!

I left the office in the blink of an eye. At first I ignored the girls, walking through the hall like a caged animal, but Tamsin finally grabbed my arm and asked me to stop for a second.

- Are you serious? I mean ... You're really considering?

I didn't know what to answer.

 - Why not? I mean ... Would not that be crazy? Yes, but is not one of those opportunities that happen once in a ing life? What is the likelihood that of we just passed happening, one in a million?
- Or ten billion ... - she said.
- That's it. You know as well as I do that in the world we have entered, having talent, sadly does not guarantee anything. It's all about luck and to seize opportunities. - I said. - How many amazing people have we seen quit just because no one has recognized his work? It happens daily.
- Yes and what!? - Izzy intervened. - Ours is the musical theater, Nat, this is totally different! Do you really going to tell me now you are an idol wannabe? And in Korea!
- Why not? As I see it would be a year of intensive learning, in neither case it would be bad for us.
- Incredible ...

Izzy walked away shaking her head as if she had lost her hopes in me to come around. But hadn't sense what I was saying? They both knew as well as I that the possibility of returning to London and get a good role in a musical, was about as likely as pigs could fly.

- I'm going outside. - I said after a while. - I'm going to call Jude.
- sure he will congratulate you! - I heard Izzy shouted sarcastically behind me.

After a few, I found a back door that led outside. I appreciated the cold air, I hoped it would help me to clarify my ideas a bit. I had to leave the initiative to call Jude because I realized, with annoyance, that in London wasn't time to call anyone. If I wake him up for that, he surely would murder me by phone.

- Oh, you're here!

A man approached me. Perhaps they would were looking for me?

- The guys are gone, so we will better hurry.
- The guys? - I asked blankly.

SE7EN, Tamsin and Isabelle had gone somewhere without me? It could be that they had sent this man to find me?

- Follow me please. - He urged impatiently.

I hesitated a moment before walking behind him, who seemed exasperated. Although It was extremely rare, it could only be that they would have had to go without me for some reason. The guy had spoke to me in English, and being Caucasian, was unlikely that I would have been mistaken for someone else if we were aware that we were in Seoul.
He led me to a van, and I hesitated again before going inside.

- Hurry up, please.

As man's patience seemed to be coming to an end, I took a seat in the back. There was driver already waiting for us inside, so he took the passenger seat and almost immediately he began to chatter on the cellphone.

- Excuse me, but where are we going? - I asked the driver with concern, once he started the van. He looked at me blankly from the mirror, obviously he didn't speak English. - Great. - I said - I just probably voluntarily offered to be kidnapped.

The trip took about twenty minutes and by then I was already hysterical. I had tried to call Tamsin and Isabelle several times but I had no luck with the coverage, which was ironic considering that my "dear friend" hadn't separated from his mobile in all the way. My fears were increased when the van finally stopped in a neighborhood on the suburbs and next to a warehouse.

 - Where we are!? - I screamed. - What is this place?

The only thing that calmed me a little was that outside seemed to be all kinds of people wandering here and there in a hurry. Totally normal people without looks of organ traffickers or of the mafia.
As soon as stopped the engine, the mobile phone man opened the door without detached from the device, and beckoned to someone. Then a woman came to me quickly, and after the typical greeting with a bow, motioned me to accompany her.

- Where are you taking me? - I asked.

To my dismay, the woman doesn't seemed to understand me, but she seemed to read the concern on my face because she showed me a friendly smile and pointed inside the warehouse. By now no longer had the slightest hope that inside were to be waiting SE7EN and girls, but I didn't expect what I found below. I was led to a kind of dressing room and once there, I was asked to sit down and immediately got down to work in me to my complete and utter amazement. With great efficiency, two women began to brush my hair and to remove the little makeup I had put that morning. I simply couldn't believe what was happening. Would it be part of the audition?

- What is it for? - I tried to communicate once again.

But nothing, if someone there was understanding me,  showed no sign of it.
A girl who had started to apply foundation with a brush, looked up and smiled.

- Beautiful. - She said simply, and continued her work.
- Hmm ... Thank you, I guess.

It took over an hour to get ready and I had already given up trying to ask questions, because it had become quite clear that there wasn't one single person there who spoke ing English. The mobile phone man doesn't appeared again neither, so in the end I resigned myself and I just got carried away. Be made up wasn't torture, after all.
The look they gave me was natural despite the work entailed. The makeup was not anything flashy, but the truth was I looked downright favored.

- I wish you could do that everyday! Look at this face, I'm almost pretty! - I joked grinning at my reflection.

And although they didn't understand what I said, by my expression they guessed I was pleased with the outcome so they smiled and bowed in gratitude.
Then they led me to change my clothes, also with a casual outfit, and I just did. What more could be done if no one understood me or explain anything? Also at some point in the process I had to drop my stuff, grudgingly, and I had no idea where was my mobile phone to call the others.
In the end, once ready, I was taken back to the outside to a rooftop, and nerves again bubbling inside me when I realized that everything seemed to be arranged as a movie set.

 - Oh my God ...

Another man seemed glad to see me, despite my obvious puzzlement, because he hastily came to me after raising his hands to heaven. I thought that he introduced himself because he did the typical greeting, but I didn't quite understood what he said. I couldn't stop looking at the lights, cameras ... I doubted very much that this had done in all the auditions.

- Well, let's start! - Said the man in basic English with a thick accent.

At last!

- What is all this? - I asked slowly and gesturing.

He looked at me like I just asked the most absurd and obvious thing in the world.

- The 'Blue' MV. - He answered. - Come on.
- Sorry but clearly there has been a mistake ... - I tried to explain.

But the man didn't even hear me, it was clear that he just wanted to start recording in which surely would already late.

- The others will come soon. - He said, however. - Go next to Top, I wanna take some preview shots before start to filming.

I saw that next to a car were two boys who were being given the last touching-up. One was tall, with hair dyed light blue. The other one, was dyed blond oxygenated and wasn't as tall as the first

- Next to Top. - He repeated, seeing that I remained static.
- But I ... This is a mistake!

One of the staff took me gently by the elbow and led me to the boys. I didn't know who the hell was 'Top', which must surely be one of the two. That situation was getting desperate me.
Once in front of them, both greeted me politely. No one seemed to realize that I shouldn't be there.

- Top, T.O.P!

Now everyone was looking at me, waiting me to react. The blond one had to notice my face of circumstances, because he made me a nod, pointing to the blue haired. Surely everyone there would be wondering if I was deaf or something.
I stood along the supposed Top just for them to stop yelling at me and tried to explain myself for the umpteenth time this day.

- This is a confusion, they must have brought me here by mistake. - I pronounced each syllable slowly and clearly as possible, and repeated the word 'mistake' at least three times. - I don't know if I have been mistaken for somebody, but I shouldn't be here!

Now I had caught the attention of the blue haired, who was looking at me frowning and with a questioning look. I realized then that he was very ... Handsome. Probably the most handsome man I had seen during my short stay in Seoul. The two boys in the morning and also SE7EN were attractives, but him ... Damn! What the heck was I thinking?
A spotlight suddenly enlightened us and two people came to give us a lot of instructions.

- First we will film a single take of you, and when G-Dragon comes...
- Wait! - I interrupted. - You said G-Dragon !? Where is he?
- Right over there.

I felt as if the sky were opened to me when I saw him appear with another boy I had never seen. I ran to him like a bat out of hell, and I could see his face in surprise as I approached.

- Thank goodness! - I exclaimed.
- Eh ... Natasha, right? - He said. - What are you doing here?
- That I'd like to know!

I was telling him the whole story when at half of it, the women who had taken care of my hair and makeup, appeared with a girl about my age and also Caucasian. She also had long hair like me and a similar dye, but that was all. She was shorter than me, and we didn't looked alike at all. Still I could understand the confusion.
Having clarified the mistake, I returned to get my clothes and got back the rest of my stuff.

- Someone will take you back to the company. - G-Dragon informed me later. - I've called Seven too.
- Thank you.
- You're welcome. - He grinned. - Now tell me, are you going to sign?

. With all the mess I had almost forgotten about the contract. I bit my lip in frustration.

- I guess if signed would be crazy, right? - I said. - But if I don't, too. Probably the uncertainty of "what could have happened?" Would end up killing me.

 We both laughed.

- Jiyong-ssi! - Shouted someone.
- I have to go. - He said. - But I have the feeling that we will meet again soon.
- Me too. - I mumbled when he was gone.

A/N: Hiya! Chapter revised (but for sure there will be still mistakes, everytime I reread it I find a new one lol). I'm currently thinking in which YG Fam characters should have a main role in the story, also if I should introduce secundary pairings... What do you guys think?
I hope you all had a good start of week, thanks for subscribing <3

Chapter 5: Honestly, they should be happy they have beds and not just mats on the floor.

Chapter 4: another great chapter. this is currently my favorite read.
hmm...my vote goes to possibly one secondary pairing, as long as it doesn't get tons of focus. if too many characters come in and get involved, it gets long and boring to me.

Chapter 3: I didn't think it was boring at all. It was different, which is good. I'm going to look forward to more, hope it doesn't give you too much trouble translating.

Chapter 1: Have confidence in your English skills, it was easy to read and follow. Not to mention interesting and fun. And even though I wasn't looking for them, I only stumbled on the English once, which could just as easily been a typo. Good job!
