About a crazy plan

The Atypical Trainee [ENGLISH]

- What the hell was I thinking !?

Or at least I assumed it was something like what he said, since for us it was just a cry in Korean. But judging by how he had brought his hands to his head ... It could also be that he had just realized that he had left the oven on. Or the hair irons.
I still was trying to understand this strange situation. For starters, it was eight in the morning and we were awake. Who the hell gets up at that time on holidays? And to follow, we were sitting in a cafe with a perfect stranger who seemed on the verge of a . Unknown, by the way, that had approached us the night before in a highly questionable state of sobriety.

- Don't you speak Korean? - He asked us, this time in English.
- Have we the looks of someone who speak it? - Isabelle replied cranky.

Tamsin glanced her reproachfully. While being there was due solely to my persuasion and insistence, the always optimistic Tamsin could not help feeling violent with the bad manners of Isabelle.

- No, I guess not. - He muttered. And after a long sigh, he regained his composure. - Anyway, thanks for coming. As I said last night, I'm Choi Dongwook, pleased to meet you.

He gave a brief nod and for a moment I doubted whether we should imitate him. I'm not into protocol Korean issues, but in our brief stay there we have found that the bows were the order of the day.

Seven. - I replied with a smirk.

When he approached us in the karaoke, obviously the first thing we thought was that it was a drunk trying to taking advantage of the fact that we were tourists for make laugh at our expense. Isabelle, without going any further, directly asked him if he had thought that we were stupid or if in that country the meaning of 'tourist' was a synonymous of 'idiot'. But then he pulled out his mobile phone to make a quick search on the Internet and prove his identity. When we discovered that he was actually nothing more and nothing less than a kind of national idol, our faces were a poem. Honestly, it took about two hundred pictures of him to convince us because between the makeup, changing hair and our unfamiliarity with the aesthetics of the place - we were at that point of "they all look alike" - was hard to us make sure that the man who seemed to go undercover, was who he claimed to be.
The so 'SE7EN', that in that morning was wearing a cap and one of those masks that seemed to be fashion tendency there, also wearing sunglasses, nodded pleased by the recognition.

- Isabelle Bartlett, Tamsin Stokes and Natasha Reid. - I introdoce us. He bowed his head. - Now tell us, what do you exactly want from us?

I did not bother to mention that the night before only had lacked to offer the elixir of eternal life, because it was obvious he was slightly "affected" and had been carried away by the situation.

- I'm in trouble. - He began. - This morning I was supposed to had a meeting with the CEO of my company to introduce him to some girls who I was convinced they were going to impress him. We're not in a period of auditions, so I had to insist a lot to convince him. A lot.
- Why such insistence? - I could not help asking. - Aren't supposed that you are a singer?
- Next year I will enter the military. -  He answered. - Generally, veterans tend to support artists and help out with the trainees and rookies whatever it takes. But I thought it would be a good idea to get involved a little more with a particular group in order to "leave something good" in my absence two years. - He let out a sigh. - I know it can sound stupid, but when I discovered these girls I just wanted to try it at least, you know?
- I see.
- Things don't work like that in the music industry. - He continued. - Musical groups aren't hired to make his debut as such. Individual auditions are made and during the years of trainee is decided who will debut and if so, if it will become part of a group. But I was sure these girls would be the next girl group YG Entertainment.
- I begin to have some idea of why this story was not intended to end well ... - commented Isabelle. - Which of all your fantasies slammed into reality?
- Izzy! - Tamsin nudged.
- Yesterday I found out that the girls had signed with SM Entertainment, the competition.

Isabelle whistled.

- Seems like these little girls know how to play dirty...
- And I think I can figure out where we fit in all this ... - I added, tying ropes. - No offense, but ... Are you insane?
- I'm starting to wonder the same thing... but what else can I do!?
- Cancel the meeting, for example?
-    I can't do this! - He exclaimed. - After so much insistence and finally get YG to acceded it, with what face would I cancel now? It would be awfull, will make me look like a completely fool!
- I understand about your wounded pride and your honor, and all that, but ... - I said. - Do you realize that we aren't koreans?
- But you have talent.
- Of course we have it, we are actresses! - Tamsin intervened for the first time, with a note of pride in his voice. - Well, performing arts students, to be exact.

It looked like that information was like a tiny ray of hope in the bleak picture of SE7EN.
This time was Izzy which glared Tamsin, who just shrugged with an innocent smile.

- Listen to me a moment, please, I know it sounds crazy ...
-    It's crazy. - Isabelle interrupted.
- You only have to come to the meeting with me. - He insisted. - YG will meet you, will think that I'm out of my mind and then may still want to make you an audition. If you are studying performing arts I don't think that be such a big thing for you. I don't even think that you need any preparation,  you must have done it a million times ... Then you can go away at the end of the day and this will only be an anecdote to tell .. - Said although it seemed that rather than convince us was trying to convince himself. - Probably I'll look like a fool too, but at least not as much as if I cancel the meeting an hour before. What do you have to lose?
- Excuse me? We are on vacation! - Izzy protested indignantly. - Right now we are losing sleep, without going any further.
- I'll pay you for your trouble. - He implored. - Please!

I was hallucinating. A week ago, we three were lamenting our mistaken buy of the flight ticket, having to travel to Seoul instead of an  European city. How could it be that now we were asked to auditioning for one of their music labels? However, the extraordinary and improbable situation also looked somewhat attractive.

- We should do it. - I solved.
-    What!? - Asked Isabelle. - No way!
-    Why not? Will be fun tell the story. – I grinned. - And it's not like we had plans for today or something.

SE7EN was just trying to hide his excitement although the situation remained bad for him, and Tamsin was looking at Izzy and me alternately, not knowing yet in which side she was. But I clearly knew that both of them were already convinced. Few artists would reject an audition offered on a silver platter, although it was under such surrealistic conditions.

- Nobody is going to believe us. - Isabelle said with a mischievous grin.

The three exchanged glances of complicity and finally I turned to SE7EN.

- What time have you told that's the meeting?

Chapter 5: Honestly, they should be happy they have beds and not just mats on the floor.

Chapter 4: another great chapter. this is currently my favorite read.
hmm...my vote goes to possibly one secondary pairing, as long as it doesn't get tons of focus. if too many characters come in and get involved, it gets long and boring to me.

Chapter 3: I didn't think it was boring at all. It was different, which is good. I'm going to look forward to more, hope it doesn't give you too much trouble translating.

Chapter 1: Have confidence in your English skills, it was easy to read and follow. Not to mention interesting and fun. And even though I wasn't looking for them, I only stumbled on the English once, which could just as easily been a typo. Good job!
