Jae Lyn was born in Daegu, South Korea on December 12th, 1994. She was raised by her parents, who were very intelligent, loving, and high-achieving parents. She lived a very normal life in Daegu; speaking is saturi and inspired by her parents to study very hard. Then, her parents decided to move to San Francisco to help out her grandparents, who were beginning to get aged and could use financial as well as physical support. Since family was always the priority, they packed up and went. In America, where Jae Lyn was required to take two years of arts, she took photography and choir. She absolutely fell in love with choir. She began to spend hours training by herself and meeting the teacher afterschool for private lessons. Although her parents encouraged her love of music, when they realized she was serious about a career in music, they were besides themselves. They asked her why she was going to pursue something she was disadvantaged at, versus studying, which she excelled at and was diligent about. They told her all kinds of things, upset, and refused to pay for any musical lessons. It was Jae Lyn’s grandfather, who secretly took her to and paid for her dance, vocal, and modeling lessons. And then, at age thirteen, Jae Lyn was scouted as a model by SM Entertainment when she visited Korea during her winter break. While scouted as a model, Jae Lyn seized the opportunity and also auditioned as a vocalist and dancer. She was accepted and became a trainee who trained in San Francisco during school time and South Korea during breaks. Her parents eventually accepted her determination. Her grandmother was thrilled, and her grandfather doted on her like a princess, so proud of her.

Overanalytical. The type that drives herself crazy for no reason. She has a tendency to overthink little problems into huge mountains. She guilt-trips herself often, even when no one else has noticed her mistake. If people are even a little bit rude to her, she thinks she’s done something wrong. If a boy she likes happens to greet another girl and accidently ignores her, she will go over the top with trying to compare herself to the other girl. She’s judgmental of herself and it can be annoying when she constantly looking down on herself. The only upside to being over-analytical is that this trait tends to make her organized, clean, and dependable.
Passionate. When she eats, she eats like there is no tomorrow. When she exercises, she exercises like there is no tomorrow. When she has to get up at 5am, she will be up at 4:30am. When it is a day off, she won’t be available until at least 2pm. Part of it is because she loves her life, the other part is because she wants to make up for her grandfather’s support and parents’ disappointment by making the best out of the life she has. She doesn’t force others to do the same, but she expects herself to make the best of everything she can.
Competitive. As much as she is passionate, she is also determined to be the best. She loves the adrenaline of competition, and loves the spirit that comes with winning even more. She doesn’t hesitate to take risks, and although these risks don’t always pay off, Jae Lyn has a burning competitive spirit. She doesn’t make everything a competition, but when it is a competition, she does everything she can to win it. She’ll be the silliest at karaoke, but as soon as someone offers a prize for winning first; it doesn’t matter what the prize is, she’ll go full out.
Good sense, intelligent. She’s academically intelligent, but she always has this certain knowledge of when it is the right time. For example, she knows when it is right to use aegyo, or sarcasm, or to just be very sincere. Or she knows when she to dress to impress or when to dress comfortably and slack off. She knows when to eat cold watermelon versus warm toasted marshmallows. She has this sixth sense that tells her when it is wise to resist or when it is smart to just back off.
Respectful. She knows how to turn people down without making them feel bad. She is always mindful of the mannerisms of the music industry as well- she is extremely caring of any younger than her and is very courteous to those older or more experienced than her. Her greetings are always bright and she tries to learn something about everybody before she meets them so that meeting them wouldn’t be awkward.
