What I look likE

face claim — Irene Kim.

backup face claim — Lee Sung Kyung.

appearance — There is something simple about her face. If she wasn't an idol, she would simply look average. But in its simplicity, her face lends itself to showing off makeup. Her body is fit, but rather boyish. She has double piercings on each ear lobe and a cartilage piercing as well.

fashion style — She tends to be very tomboy and casual. She sometimes really desires to dress up, but she feels uncomfortable and shy in extravagant clothes. She is always wearing jewellry and collects sneakers and boots, in order to offset a rather plain and tomboyish wardrobe. The one thing that she invested in herself in a long silver necklace with a lock charm at the end. She also has a silver spinning ring. Suprisingly, she actually loves formalwear. Her favorite look is a choker with a slightly oversized deep V black blazer.

Who I am

plotline — Main Rapper, Vocalist

traits — Blase, independent, quiet, uncertain, spontaenous, competitive, and protective.

personality —  Ji Hye comes off as very casual and blase. It seems as though she thinks that everything is fine and nothing is ever a really big issue. She's very diligent but comes off as independent and quiet to the point that she appears almost cold to other people. In truth, Ji Hye feels like an outsider and although at first, she tried very hard to make relationships with others, over time, she has simply accepted that she is a bit of a loner. She isn't particularly charismatic or pretty. Her rap and her tomboyishness have granted her some degree of stage presence, but she had to practice hard to gain that charisma- it isn't natural. As such, she's always a bit uncertain about her place in the industry and in the group. In a professional capacity, she just tends to listen to what other people say. In a personal capacity, she just tends to brush off everything like, "Eh. That's fine. Whatever." If you try to look at it positively, Ji Hye is independent and she respects other people's opinions and privacy, but in a group, this constant blase manner and distantness might prove to be a problem.

The positive part of her personality is her inner strength and also, her focus. When Ji Hye encounters a problem, she thinks about what she can do to fix it, rather than blame someoone else. Other people's choices don't really affect her. She'll wear whatever she's told to and focus only on making sure she dances and raps correctly. Her negative trait is her inability to express her consideration to others. She is also terrible with planning and doesn't think a lot about the future. She's spontaneous and a night owl. She loves going on random outings for food or sightseeing, but if you ask her to plan a trip, she wouldn't know how to schedule things properly. She gets lost pretty easily, too. She's a bit air-headed that way. Although she's a bit quiet, she tends to act first and then think afterwards. This sometimes frustrates the people around her. Another thing that frustrates people a lot is that she doesn't make eye contact very often. She does all of the correct mannerisms, such as bowing to sunbaes, but she tends not to look at people when they talk to her.

However, when it comes to what's happening in the now, Ji Hye is actually constantly overthinking and she takes things very seriously. She's always aware that her parents are disappointed in her and she is always thinking about the fact that she dropped out of college very late in the game to be here and that there are so many other younger and more talented trainees that could take her spot. Ji Hye is constantly torn between 1) the fact that music introduced her to a new way of life and a new form of happiness all those years ago and that she's 100% certain that she wants to rap and 2) the fact that her parents disapprove of her ambitions and that they might be right because the entertainment industry, with all these accomplished and beautiful and bubbly people, doesn't seem to be for people like her. Ji Hye doesn't know how to express these conflicting feelings, since she always felt pressured to stay silent so as to persuade her parents and the people around her that she was worthy of being a rapper. Honestly, the only thing that Ji Hye really knows about herself is that she loves rap. She comes alive when she raps and she is somehow able to say the things she is never able to say normally. She has ambition deep inside of her, but she hasn't claimed it for herself yet. Although she's not shy about her personality or her beliefs, she's shy about what she wants. The key for Ji Hye may be to get out of her own head and learn to consider others more and realize that 1) other people have the same insecurities, 2) she has the right to be there, and 3) the world is bigger than just her and her worries.

Other important personality traits include her sponatenous nature, as mentioned before. She also has a mischevious sense of humor. Although she doesn't really pull pranks, she thinks it's funny when other people do. Her laugh is like a snicker, which some people hate and some people find cute. Also, she pretends like she's not competitive, but she really is, to the point that sometimes she can be quite reckless. Similiarly, she's quite protective over her team members even though she acts nonchalant around them. She can be very defensive if she thinks other people are being rude or hurtful towards them. This is especially true of the younger members. Finally, she is very diligent and meticulous and it is probably this aspect in which the other team members and the staff can relate to her and trust her and understand that she is serious about being an artist.

background — Ji Hye is the only child of two very grounded and humble parents in Daegu. She grew up in a rural riverside village, playing soccer with a couple other boys who lived in her neighborhood and splashing around in the river. Her parents run a medicine store together. Her mom and dad have always been very sensible people, buying only what was needed and sharing whatever they could with the rest of the neighborhood. When Ji Hye fell in love with music, listening to CDs with her friends at school, they told Ji Hye about how the celebrity world was corrupt and anyways, it was a world far away from them. Ji Hye accepted what they said, but she never stopped dancing and she especially never stopped rapping. She used to sit by the river, plug in her headphones, and just rap for hours on end. Then, she went to college in Seoul. Living in the city by herself for the first time, Ji Hye suddenly realized that there was a whole world out there, waiting for her. She realized she could live on her own terms. She auditioned for as many agencies as she could, but failed the first time. She was accepted by BigHit just when before she started her sophomore year in college (2016/ age 20) and made the decision to drop out of college. Her parents were furious with her, not understanding why she would do such a thing. In the agency itself, Ji Hye found it hard to make friends because she was a "country kid" and also because she had entered the agency at such a late age, and most of the trainees had trained together for a long time. Ji Hye kept to herself, but she attended lessons (from language to dancing to rapping to modeling) very diligently even though the only place where stood out even a little bit was rapping. Her mentors always told her that even though she had good technique and rhythm, she needed to break out of her shell and to a certain extent, she learned to manifest her own stage presence, but there is still something lacking in her rapping.

likes

  • Lights (decorative lights and city lights)
  • Collecting jewelry, hoodies, jackets, blazers, and shoes

  • Late-night trips of walking to the nearest street food stands and eating there
  • Walking on bridges or by rivers
  • Rain, mist, and snow
  • Trying out anything physical or adventurous (e.g. sports, sky diving, etc.)
  • Flowers, especially cherry blossoms and lotuses (i.e. always goes to the Yeuido Cherry Festival and wants a tattoo of a lotus on the back of her neck)

dislikes

  • Being told to smile or 'lighten up'
  • Having her accent pointed out
  • Having to sing ballads because she always feels her singing voice is super coarse
  • Having to do word games on variety shows because it stresses her out
  • People who think they have to fill every moment of silence with small talk
  • Intense heat and sunlight
  • Excessive travelling
  • Karaoke
  • Having to give speeches or explanations

hobbies

  • Running and sports
  • Arranging music/Learning how to electronically write music
  • Trying to figure out new ways to rhyme words or make wordplay in the lyrics
  • Learning new dances (She's not that quick at learning dance, though, but once she gets it, she has her own 'swag' style because she's good at hitting the beats/following the bass line.)
  • Street shopping and eating
  • Finding places to sit and think and do nothing (e.g. by rivers, on rooftops, on park swings, etc.)

habits

  • Playing with her rings, even when on camera
  • Not making eye contact
  • Always listening to music (when in the van, when sitting for make-up, when running, and even when in the dorms) and when listening, she mouths the word and moves her hand whenever she listens to rap and it looks weird when no one else can hear the music
  • Almost always slouches when sitting and also has a bad habit of sitting with her legs stretched out in front of her. (Leader sometimes has to poke her in the side to remind her to keep her posture!)
  • Prefers cold weather. If it gets too hot when she's sleeping, she tends to throw off blankets and even clothes.

trivias —

  • Her voice comes out a little flat sometimes because she's trying to downplay her accent, but she's only been in Seoul for a couple years. Her saturi slips out when she's nervous or angry. She also talks in a very understated manner, not really exaggerating stories but understating good and bad events and talking about them pretty neutrally.
  • She played soccer when she was in middle school, but hasn't really played since.
  • Her favorite street food is ddubboki, followed closely by red bean fish.
  • She's an incredibly light sleeper.
  • She wishes she was better at photoshoots, but she isn't very good. She hopes to be more comfortable with modeling soon. She also wants to be a better dancer and respects people who can dance well.
  • She doesn't really complain when there's a difficult schedule, but she can be extremely lazy on her days off and not move from her bed the whole day.
  • She takes the quickest showers, and only towel-dries her hair.
  • She feels bare without her trademark rings and necklace.

Family

— Lee Jin Soo| Father | 50 | Conservative, a bit strict, humble, thoughtful, non-talkative, and grounded | Very little as of now , maybe there will be more phone calls if the group does better or if Ji Hye apologizes

— Lee Hae Rin | Mother | 51 | Gentle, firm in her beliefs, a good listener, grounded, and believes in living a simple and grateful life | "Same as above"

Friends

— Kim Tae Kyung (Not a celebrity/ made-up person)| Old Friends/ Ex | 23 | Straightforward, sarcastic, loyal, intense, and spontaneous| He was an old friend from the same neighborhood. He let her play soccer with the other boys when nobody else would. They were very close friends and dated towards the end of high school, but broke up when Ji Hye became a trainee and became distant with him. They still text sometimes, but not too often. They are still good friends who would run to each other if needed, though.

- DEAN (K-R&B Singer-songwriter)| Friends/ Mentor  | 25 | Casual, laid-back, nonjudgmental, smiles a lot, but doesn't mind the silence | Ji Hye learned basic songwriting from a mentor at the agency, and her mentor set her up with Dean because Ji Hye had mentioned that she had liked his r&b vibes. They are similiar in their focus and taste in music and the fact that neither of them really mind silence. They are truly completely platonic friends, and Ji Hye admires him for the songs that he writes.

love interest — Daniel Kang (Wanna One). (Age 21).

backup love interest — Seo Kang Joon (5uprise). (Age 24).

personality — He's quite warm and friendly. When he talks or asks questions, it doesn't feel awkward because he's very friendly. Whenever things get awkward, he laughs or smiles and it eases the tension. He's also comfortable with skinship and approaches it like it's not a big deal. It makes Ji Hye feel attracted to him, but she also is really conflicted as to whether he likes her back or if he treats everyone like he behaves with her. He's from Busan, so he understands that whole 'accent' thing. He's  a fellow rapper and dancer and they also have similiar taste in jewellry. There are slightly young parts of his character that make Ji Hye laugh. For example, he's a bit naive and can be messy, not really caring about his appearance when he should or actually falling asleep on a variety show. Obviously, he takes his work seriously, but at the same time, he doesn't need the spotlight on him all the time. He balances giving and receiving well, especially on the emotional side, and that's sometimes that Ji Hye learns from him as well as her group members- how to lean on someone when you're having a hard time and when to be strong and open for others when they need you. Daniel is also someone who sees that she wants to do really well and cheers her on. He also realizes that she is super competitive and finds it cute.

relationship — They haven't met yet! That is up to you as you see fit (if you think there would be time for that because I know you said the girls' relationships are first and foremost!) But I would love it if they met through promoting or through a variety show and later on a photoshoot where he made her feel comfortable, and if they ended up dating.

Last Words

comments/suggestions — Thank you for taking the time to read my application. I can't wait for your story! I love your plotlines and can't wait to see how the girls interact! Please let me know if you need more information or if something is wrong, I'll fix it! Thanks again.

scene requests — A photoshoot with Daniel Kang ;D. And the girls keep setting them up and she gets frustrated with it but ultimately, she owes them. Also, maybe a scene where all the girls go together to the Cherry Blossom Festival or something like that? I would also love to have some uncomfortable scenes where some of the girl members tell her things she need to hear like : "It seems like you don't care" or "It's about all of us, not just one of us" and she gets her act together. I'd also like to see a scene where she is protective over a fellow member. But anyways, there are all requests and suggestions and this is completely your story, so please don't worry if you decide not to take any of these requests. I just want them to be helpful. <3
