Celebrity/Model/Ulzzang's Name: Grace

Personality:

Rational and responsible. Her judgments are rather objective and based more on her perception and logic rather than emotions. She’s been that way since she was born. She’s doesn’t let her feelings or beliefs get in the way of doing what she believes is right. The good side about this is that Hae Jin is always organized and learns things extremely quickly. It also makes her an incredibly dependable person who is able to help others by pointing them in the right direction. She is a wonderful listener and great at giving advice. The down side of always being so organized, rational, and responsible is that often times; she gets her priorities mixed up. She sometimes disrespects or disregards the feelings of those close to her because she is so busy fulfilling her “duties”. Because of this, Hae Jin has a hard time maintaining close personal relationships with people she truly cares about. This personality trait allows her to succeed in terms of a career, but it gives her a lot of regrets when it comes to friends, family, and relationships because she never follows her feelings and confesses or allows herself to have fun.

Totally different when practicing/on stage or when off stage. When practicing or on stage, Hae Jin is extremely strict and can be honest to the point where it may hurt someone’s feelings.  She’s hard-working and ambitious and although she will willingly stay up all night to help someone improve, she will also be the first one to harshly point out one’s mistakes and scold someone during practice. The positive side of this is that this allows her to be extremely charismatic on stage and always allows her and those around her to learn and grow quickly. She’s also very open to receiving criticism herself since she understands that the point is to help her improve. The negative side to this is, as you might imagine, group fights. Off stage or when she doesn’t have to be in leader-mode, Hae Jin is always bright and cheerful, as well as slightly childish. That’s why her nickname as a child is “Sun”. She naturally loves to smile and laugh (doesn’t everyone? :D) and enjoys being around people. She loves to watch and listen to people as much as she loves to perform and although she isn’t very talkative, she’s just very bright. She isn’t a mood-setter, isn’t the center of attention, doesn’t attract a crowd to her, but she warms the people right next to her and allows them to open up and talk to her freely and smile, carefree. Contrary to what you might think, she is also attracted to things like stuffed animals and fuzzy socks.

Confident. Maybe it’s because she is so hard-working, but Hae Jin is always confident. Confident when she is challenged, and confident when she is introducing herself. First meetings for her are never awkward and she is very easy to get along with even if you have just met her. Her goal as a leader would be to give others this same confidence anytime, anywhere.

Trainee History:

When Hae Jin was 17, just graduated from high school, Hae Jin was scouted by SM Entertainment for her looks while she posed as an extra while visiting Song Joong Ki during one of his movies. One of the actresses in that movie was an SM actress, and the SM agent asked Hae Jin to audition. Hae Jin, who had never dreamed of being an idol or model, but had always wanted to be a singer and composer, was a choir and music composition student at her school. She auditioned in freestyle modeling and sung “Someone Like You” by Adele. Hae Jin trained for one year total to debut as a magazine and catwalk model. Hae Jin trained for five more years after she expressed her desire to debut as a musician/idol. Hae Jin had to learn everything, including the basics, of dance and rap. Hae Jin also further developed her vocals and composition skill, studying instruments and lyrics as well. She gained the skills of writing lyrics and playing the guitar and piano during those five years. She also continued to model during these years.

Hae Jin had an easy first three years because her modeling has brought her to the top of the agency. But during her fourth year of training, Hae Jin began to struggle with the stress of balancing her modeling and her musical raining. She had to fight hard to convince SM to allow her to pursue both, instead of just pushing forward in modeling. SM really had no faith in her musical talents until the end of her fifth year, when she showed them her new dance and rap self. After one more year of training to develop herself, SM was convinced by her hard work and ambition and she was put into this girl group. :]

Partner: Yunho of DBSK (age 26)

Previous Relationship(s):

1. Se7en | Met each other at a photoshoot. | Broke up after a year because they just weren’t feeling the spark anymore, but they are still wonderful friends. | This was never released to the public. | This was when Hae Jin was 17-18.

2. Yunho of DBSK | Hae Jin was hired as a back-up dancer for DBSK and then became the main girl in the MV they were shooting. Although Yunho was extremely cold the first few times, as Hae Jin kept running into him, they naturally just began to talk more and more. This developed into a strong friendship that eventually blossomed into feelings. They began dating and were extremely steady until the whole DBSK break-up. Throughout the break-up, Hae Jin was with Yunho, but Yunho decided to break up with her to focus on his group and career even though he still liked her. Furthermore, the SM President found out about their relationship around this time and banned them from contacting each other. Hae Jin was extremely hurt by the whole affair and avoids Yunho as much as she possibly can. Hae Jin is extremely hesitant to date after this. This was Hae Jin’s most serious and heartfelt relationship and it ended extremely badly. | This was when Hae Jin was 18-21.

3. Heechul of Super Junior | Met each other when Hae Jin first became a trainee and it was Heechul’s last year of training. Started dating after a few years and continued seeing each other until Heechul debuted as Super Junior and had a contract that banned them from dating. | Heechul did break up with her but apologized several times on public broadcasts to Hae Jin (without actually saying her name) and promised to work hard. | Although Hae Jin requested that Heechul stay away from her, they both often hang out now that Heechul has to leave for the army in a bit. This was when Hae Jin was 23-24.

Scandals:

1. Hae Jin, Modeling Queen, Got Into SM because of her cousin, Song Joong Ki? It has recently been reported that Hae Jin, a Korean supermodel under SM Entertainment, got into SM not because of her own merit, but because her cousin is Song Joong Ki. Rumor is that Hae Jin got in through family connections and did plastic surgery to attain such a beautiful face. Hae Jin released a statement through her company in response, stating that, “Saying that someone’s hard-earned skill is just pure luck is disrespectful and ignorant. Although family connections are advantageous in the entertainment industry, they are only one percent of what is needed to survive and succeed in this industry. I wish people would respect my hard work and dedication throughout the years, instead of degrading it to a family cousin and plastic surgery. I have never undergone plastic surgery, and signed with SM Entertainment because SM Entertainment recruited me. I did not smuggle into my cousin’s Entertainment or beg him for help to have me recruited. If I had, I would have been at a different agency since my cousin isn’t under SM Entertainment. Please stop making false accusations before they seriously hurt someone, unless you plan on taking responsibility for your words and showing up in court with a defense attorney. (June 2007)

2. Is Hae Jin responsible for DBSK’s break-up? Hae Jin has often been seen going in and out of the DBSK’s dorms. While this has been occuring for quite a while, both DBSK members and Hae Jin all say that they are strictly a “friendship” only. However, on a recent talk show where Hae Jin was being interviewed about her catwalk, a fan suddenly screamed from the crowd, “You broke up DBSK, huh, you bi*%^!?” Startled, Hae Jin looked on the verge of tears, which only seemed to confirm the truth. She never released a statement. (December 2009)

3. Hae Jin and Heechul dating? Hae Jin and Heechul were spotted at a movie theater together. Although the two never held hands or hugged, it was suspicious that the two of them were out alone. Are the two dating? Neither side released a statement to this claim. (March 2011)

Past Experience(s):

1. Walked the Catwalks/ Posed in Magazines for: Polo Ralph Lauren, Burberry, Chanel, Prada, Alexander McQueen, Benetton, Korean Vogue, Korean Elle, Seoul Fashion.

2. Helped to Compose and Write SHINee’s “Hello” and “Lucifer”

Trivia:

1. Hae Jin has never been sick since the age of eleven.

2. Hae Jin has synesthesia, which is where she sees color with music. Whenever she reads or composes music notes or lyrics, she often sees them in a color. Usually, the color depends on the pitch of the music. For example, the higher notes may be red while the lower notes are a more neutral gray. This is a part of why she loves composing. For her, it’s like arranging colors to make pretty patterns.

3. Hae Jin has a photographic memory. It takes her twenty seconds to memorize a full page or a view or frame.

4. Hae Jin’s favorite colors are: Glitter Black, Glitter White, and Baby Blue.

5. In high school, Hae Jin was a four-time varsity volleyball player, and Captain for two years. She played the spiker and was called “Ace”.
