-Character-

Name: Kim Hae Jin

Nickname: Jin, Sun (Hae)

Age: 12/12/1992

Birthplace: Gyeonsando, Daegu, South Korea

Hometown: San Francisco, CA, USA

Languages: Fluent Korean, Fluent English, Semifluent Japanese

Height/Weight: 171cm / 49kg

Personality: Ha Jin is bright, charismatic, competitive, independent, tomboyish, and vivacious. She’s always busy somehow, busy trying to be the best. If she’s at an athletic competition, she’ll be attracting attention for her fierce athletic attitude and skills. If she’s at a musical competition, she’ll be the star for her give-it-all attitude. In short, she draws attraction. She finds it extremely easy to focus because she only does the things she likes and is good at. For example, you will always find her playing sports or practicing music, you will never see this girl with any book but a manga, sports magazine, or songbook. And those glasses will never be reading glasses. She is a natural-born leader, slightly rebellious when it comes to minor rules. She won’t drink underage or anything, but tell her not to break curfew, and she’ll break curfew. She’s reliable, loyal, and kind- but everything except family comes after her. Ask her to get you snacks, and she certainly will, but only after she’s gotten her own. She’s responsible for herself and a fun friend but sometimes people doubt how reliable and generous she is. She’s ambitious, not exactly selfish, but sometimes narrow-minded and self-centered. She respects major things, like people’s passions for different things, or religious or political views, but she can be very narrow-minded about people’s life situations. She doesn’t think that anyone has an advantage or disadvantage, but sometimes in life, people are born advantageously or not. For example, she thinks everyone can become a model if they want, but this isn’t always the truth in real life. She’s naïve about things like that. She doesn’t believe in excuses, which she good, but sometimes she doesn’t listen to reason. She would challenge anyone in any sport or musical field, even experienced sunbaenims, for her pride. When she wins, she really dominates, and when she crashes, she falls hard. An all or nothing kind of girl, which makes people love her and hate her seconds later. That’s why she is so charismatic, but also ultimately independent. She doesn’t lean on anyone, and rarely, rarely lets anyone lean on her. If you are her fan, she’s your biggest fan and supporter, but she won’t ever take excuses. She’s not judgmental, but she’s not very understanding either.

Good things about her include her sense of humor, her sense of making you belong, her great confidence (which she tries to give to her friends through pep talks and such), her ambition, and her aggressiveness (ability to confidently take bets and risks), and her belief in people’s ability to succeed (she believes you can always succeed, no matter who you are, as long as you’re not versing her ><).

Another negative thing about her is that because she always expects to be the best, she has a hot temper and will get frustrated rather quickly. It makes it hard for people to work with her. Furthermore, she doesn’t take criticism well. Despite her best attempts, she will continue to be sullen around that person for a long time and start bad-mouthing that person in her head. She loves to learn, but she gets impatient and wants to excel faster than she should or could. For example, if her guitar teacher tells her to practice for a week and come back, she stills expects to master it in a few hours and gets mad when she doesn’t. She can get very irritable, huffy, and teenager-like when things don’t go her way. Sometimes, although her words don’t indicate this, her actions indicate arrogance. She damn well works her off, and loves what she is doing, but when someone threatens her spotlight, be it friend or not, she automatically feels sullen and somewhat annoyed. She expects to be the best, always. It makes it hard for people to get close to her, and she gets bad-mouthed by a lot of jealous girls and also by wiser sunbaenims who know that she would learn more from just calming down and taking the time to really digest things.

Background:

Hae Jin was born in Daegu, Korea to a family of four- her grandfather, her parents, and her older sister. They were a normal household in terms of wealth and lifestyle. Hae Jin’s mother, who is a very stern, but caring mother, was a fashion designer and her father, an easy-going man always full of jokes, was the manager of a company. Because of her father’s job, Hae Jin and her family moved to San Francisco when Hae Jin was ten years old. Hae Jin’s grandfather stayed at home, and thus became responsible for taking care of the girls since Hae Jin’s parents were always working. Hae Jin feels closer to her grandfather than anyone else in her family. Hae Jin absolutely hates her sister. Hae Jin’s sister, Kim Chae Kyung, is two years older than her and a soccer star. Both sisters are extremely competitive and determined to win. But Chae Kyung was always stronger, smarter, and more popular than Hae Jin since she was two years older. And then, Chae Kyung decided to pursue a pro soccer player’s career. All expenses went to Chae Kyung, and Hae Jin’s parents took time off work to support Chae Kyung at her soccer games. But they never took Hae Jin’s request to be an idol seriously. They never went to an audition, recital, never took her to a concert, never bought her new sneakers. Her grandfather supported her all the way, though. He took her to auditions in San Francisco behind her parents’ back and paid for vocal and dance lessons out of his own pocket money. Hae Jin passed auditions at age fourteen and left for Korea without telling her parents or her sister anything. She still refuses to talk to her parents and her older sister, but kept in regular contact with her grandfather until he passed away when she was sixteen.

Friends:

Wooyoung from 2pm: Wooyoung is hilarious and shares the Saturi (Busan/Daegu) accent, instantly confirming them as friends.

Ailee: Bubbly, but doesn’t use aegyo or cling onto boys. Honestly kind and sweet, but at the same time, very competitive and prideful. Hae Jin and Ailee love to Internet-shop, eat sweets, and look at boys together. XD

Jay Park: Independent, always follows his own ideas and heart, strong-willed, an encouraging hyung who r&b music is soothing to the heart. Hae Jin admires his all-or-nothing attitude he throws into his music. They also share the same immature sense of humor.

Best Friends:

Tablo from Epik High: Her composition/lyrics mentor, Tablo clicks with Hae Jin in that they both throw their lives into music. They admire and respect each other, but they don’t really hang out all that often.

D.O. from Exo K: He also pokes fun at her and makes her annoyed, but is also the person who can spot Hae Jin’s insecurities when no one else can.

Yesung from Super Junior: Sarcastic, focused, and independent. Never complains, but always hard-working and responsible. Hae Jin always gets scolded by Yesung for being too bold, but at the same time, Yesung is Hae Jin’s firm supporter. He is always there for her when she needs someone. Like her older brother.

Rivals:

Eunhyuk of Super Junior- Eunhyuk is slightly arrogant himself and hates how Hae Jin is so confident she will beat him in dance and music.

Krystal of f(x)- Both of them have the same love interest and both are competitive as hell. XD

-Love-

His Name: Kim Myungsoo of Infinite (Idol)

His personality: Seems like a cold ice prince, but is really a dork. Shy, respectful, always calm, doesn’t use aegyo, but still cute. His ability to laugh at himself and move on with his life, plus his overwhelming charisma is attractive to Hae Jin. When you are sad, he always comes over to you and tries to cheer you up by stealing you from practice and taking you to buy stuffed animals or by just watching you practice and cheering you on. Whether he’s happy or sad, he tries to just hide it and look cold, but it shows. When he’s sad, he blanks out a lot. When he’s angry, he becomes very cold and distant. When he’s happy, he slowly smiles and his eyes brighten. He laughs a lot when he’s happy, and looks down a lot when he’s sad. He usually goes running when he is sad or angry. He gets jealous easily and is extremely shy about skinship. :] He always pretends to forget about anniversaries, birthdays, etc., but then makes it into a big event.

How you met/meet: Posed for a photoshoot together. Myungsoo was just respectful towards her as a co-worker and not interested in her at all. Hae Jin was totally star struck by Myungsoo. It was the first time she’s ever felt completely at a loss for how to act or what to say. Myungsoo at first hates Hae Jin’s competitive nature and thinks she’s a total show-off, but later discovers what music means to her (the last thing her grandfather gave to her) and how hard she works to be the best and slowly, slowly starts to like her.

Back up love: Yoo Shin Yoon (Actor)

Back up personality: Shin Yoon is short-tempered and extremely loyal. He gets impatient, nervous, and angry easily, but he is extremely protective and gives his all to those close to him. He wears his emotions on his heart, and is sometimes a little childish and over-sensitive about little things. A focused and disciplined hard worker, but also incredibly whiny.  Confident, loves to laugh, and loves skinship and isn’t shy about it. XD

How you met/meet: Variety Show Like Dream Team or Running Man. Hae Jin is startled by how aggressive and competitive he is, but keeps her head in the game and barely beats him. The two respect each other, and start to talk to each other.
