if there is something nicole is famous for apart from her catchy and fiery lyrics is her knowledge for seemingly everything under the sun. a bit of an exaggeration but nicole did earned quite the high grades back when she was a student and could easily enter any university with her grades alone. despite studying abroad she has an extensive knowledge of south korea, earning amusement from her peers. nicole is full of charisma that she can easily catch one's attention no matter the age of the viewer. the fact that she's also confident enables her to excude her charm both on stage and off stage. nicole is optimistic but not that kind to randomly shout out cheers. she's more of the type to know and be certain that things will go her way because she believes in herself and the people around her.

on the 30th of march in 1998, nicole hwang was born in toronto, canada to second generation immigrants joanna kim, a housewife, and louie hwang, a doctor. nicole was the youngest of five siblings and no doubt the naughtiest. you'd think being the youngest nicole would be a sweet little girl, but it is quite the opposite. despite the between her siblings, she never went down without a fight.
as she grew up in an upper middle class family, nicole was enrolled to the best school in the city and had various after school classes to enchance her skills. nicole did like learning various stuff contrary to her rebelious personality, but she knew even back then that studying was not for her. even though she generally had good grades enough to get her to university, nicole was certain that she was not going to one. now the problem was how to tell her tiger mom and her image freak dad who managed to convince four out of five of their children to become doctors too.
nicole started working part time jobs since she knew that her parents would probably kick her out when she tells them her plans of not going to university so she might as well start saving up. it also helps the fact that she's probably going to have to work and start somewhere after high school. surprisingly she was allowed to work, with nicole reasoning that she wanted to have some experience and completely hiding the real reason. from working at a frozen yoghurt shop to a library she worked from one place to another despite being a rich kid. nicole has admitted to liking having part time jobs on her free time even though she didn't last very long on any of her jobs because she got bored very easily.
even if the hwangs have been staying in canada for a long time, they would still come and visit their relatives back in their motherland every two years. however in late 2014 their visit to south korea was of a different purpose. nicole's second oldest sibling, her eldest sister, was about to get married and decided to have it there as she was going to stay there anyways. while out and about with her cousins in seoul, nicole was scouted by a talent agent from pledis. nicole, not knowing how to continue and what to do after high school, decided to audition secretly but she didn't tell her family that she did so, only telling them that she got accepted after the wedding.
of course this enraged her family, her father most especially, though nicole didn't seem to care that much and even stated that she will come back to korea to train. after a brief stay in toronto nicole packed her bags and went back to korea for her training and this time permanently

• daniella is nicole's older sister who got married in south korea and has decided to settle down in the capital. they were not the closest growing up but due to the fact that they're in the same city they eventually grew closer to the point that they bully their siblings together. it wasn't until daniella's two year old son daeho was born when nicole realized that she actually likes kids and are her weaknesses. she'd often baby sit her nephew whenever she has her rare dayoffs and visits their place.

• as seventeen were already preparing to debut by the time nicole got to pledis, she never really got the chance to meet them properly and get close to them, except for maybe vernon and seungkwan who are both 98 liners as she is. nicole has once heard that some members of seventeen found her intimidating as she has this certain aura when she doesn't smile, and nicole made sure to take advantage of this. whenever the girls and seventeen crossed paths she made sure not to smile or giggle just to scare them. it wasn't until they started filming the program that the boys realized that nicole is actually kinda normal. now nicole can confidently say that she's close to jihoon, minghao, soonyoung, chan and the aforementioned 98 liners.

before being scouted by pledis, nicole actually had no prior knowledge about kpop and has only researched on her way back to korea. naturally she did not expect everything that had happened during her early months in pledis. she had a ty start to say the least, but of course she did not admit that out loud. there were even instances where she fought back against pledis staff about unfair things such as dieting. she found such things completely unnecessary and was even caught often times eating snacks when they were not allowed to. though she's not particularly proud of talking back to her superiors, nicole is also not shy about complaining about these things on interviews after debut.
frankly pledis would have kicked her out if only nicole did not show any potential on becoming a rapper. her love for poetry has came in handy as she used this to write up lyrics on her free time. even nicole herself was surprised by it. sure she did mainly listen to rap music, but she has never really thought of becoming a rapper. that, and nicole was annoyingly good with the cameras during her time in 16tv. she's very confident with her fanservice even though she's never done such things before and has natural charisma that she had been dubbed as the stan attractor back in the days. nicole would have quit not because she didn't enjoy the process of training but because it was too long for her impatient . if it wasn't because she wanted to prove to her family that she could debut, she would have done just that.

first meeting
vernon and nicole had a very bizarre and unique first meeting. back when nicole first arrived in pledis, seventeen were busy preparing for their debut so she never got to meet them properly and she didn't really mind. she knew there would be an appropiate time to meet her fellow trainees/sunbaes in the future.
nicole was just walking around the building, looking for the practice room she was supposed to be in when she heard her favourite song being blasted through the speakers. nicole being nicole got really excited and just bursted into the room. she didn't ever care that there was a guy who looked super confused upon seeing her because after some seconds they started vibing together.
that's how they'd often hang out. in a random corner in pledis talking about music or the places they were born in or some random restaurant vernon found near the company. vernon didn't mention that he was a part of that new boy group their company has just debuted until two months after seventeen released their first mini-album.
nicole didn't really care and acted as if he wasn't her sunbae. vernon didn't mind.
interactions
for two people with such opposite personalities, vernon and nicole really spend quite a lot of time together. whether it's just them vibing or eating somewhere, it's not surprising to see the two together on their day off.at the very start of their friendship (mid 2015), vernon showed her the music that he had been working on. nicole was greatly amused by his talent and she didn't shy away from complementing him. this has inspired her to do the same with the help of vernon guiding her and it proved very useful to her as she developed her skills in rapping and writing lyrics with his help.
vernon eventually drags her to the studio where her interest in music further expanded. it is also around this time when she becomes closer to jihoon who was impressed with her lyrics. because of their shared loved for the same kind of music, both vernon and nicole would get together just to compose and to produce music way before the program even started. they both agreed that this is why vernon was picked as her mentor later on.

ah maybe it's bc i'm a carat but i have a lot of ideas for this fic. i was even contemplating whether to resubmit aeri, but i just went with a new character instead. i hope you like her bc it was so fun to write her lol.
i was also soooo close to making vernon her love interest too cause i find their relationship kinda cute, but at the same time i don't think she's going to be very serious about her relationships and is the type to break up with her lovers just because she's bored of them lmao. either way i could imagine them together but i ultimately chose not to make them a couple.
one last thing, i know cheetah's not her rap twin but damn it was so hard to find things for female idol rappers. i hope it's okay that i used her for the future activities part.
